I arrived to pick up my order, only to find the coffee I had purchased was missing. I had to double-check my order and the printed chit before asking about it. The employee seemed confused and asked, "There is supposed to be a drink?" I pointed out that it was clearly listed on the chit. A supervisor stepped in and explained that my coffee had a modification that cost an extra $0.60. The problem? Their online ordering system offers no way to charge for, or even notify the customer of, this extra cost. I mentioned i had change in my car, I was then told, "We need that" for the drink. So I spent 5 minutes retrieving $1 from my car which isn't parked adjacent to their building because of their parking arrangement, handed it over, and then waited while the coffee was finally made... something that should have already been prepared. As someone who managed a Panera Bread for 3 years, I can confidently say that inconveniencing a customer over $0.60 would never have been acceptable. If the system doesn't allow for the upcharge, that's a business cost you absorb not a problem you shift onto the customer. I heard yelling in the back and heard some movements while I was eating food. Seeing the service and how it was, the management still needs help finding cooks. I like the food but to hear that while eating is not it and bad service. 3/10 the food was good but don't sit inside unless you wanting some fight to happened. Our table is too small. If we had ordered anything else it would be in our lap. (Poorly designed space) Instead of cleaning the syrup off the table that stuck my husband's menu to the table, the waitress just put a jar of syrup back in the same spot of tackiness. I mean why clean it up, right? It's just going to get dirty again. Service- okay. That's all. In today's society we are slowly losing expectations to be served and instead be treated as someone to work for a better tip from with doing the minimal. Food- overpriced. Dairy-free people should avoid the biscuits and grits. Otherwise the food is okay. The potatoes (home fries) were a bit dry and not flavored despite "moon dust" addition of rosemary and garlic. Mostly it is a very loud place as the hard walls echo sound back and forth. I will go again but not often. We pted for the flying biscuit due the convenience of it being really close to our Sunday mass. The restaurant has a lot of potential but the pricing versus what they dish out doesn't match. The food was good but the reason for 2 stars were, today the host walked each and every customer to their table, my husband and I, a black couple, were POINTED in the direction we needed to go in. Seating was directly next to the fire hydrant by the exit door and we were told that's the only table available while passing 4empty tables on our way there. Wow! This place is great! It's located in downtown Columbus in a converted building that was once a car dealership. So, right off the bat, it gets points for preservation. The food was wonderful and nicely plated. Options include vegetarian and vegan dishes as well as meat options. I had the garden veggie scramble served with grits (cooked the old fashioned way with milk and cheddar cheese) and a biscuit. Food is prepared when ordered so not a place to grab a quick bite. It's hard to say what was better the food or the service! The chicken sausage was the best I've had at a restaurant. The grits were rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Even the fruit on my waffle was ripe to perfection. And the service....you ever had a waitress that thought of everything you needed or wanted before you even asked for it? Overall, the food and service were pretty good. The 35 minute wait is typical of a new location in a small town. However, I am moved to write this review after my interaction with the owner. When I asked to chat with him, his facial expression was one of anticipated disgust. Almost as if he assumed that we were going to complain. However, we were visiting from Houston, and wanted to know more about how they selected Columbus as a location for Flying Biscuit. I also referenced his brother who owns the locations in Houston, and at that point, his demeanor seemed to shift, because he gave a half smile. His brother is opposite, he is very engaged with his Houston customers each time we visit, and greets everyone with a smile and warm welcome. Even if the food isn't the best on the day you visit (note that consistency is a challenge and should probably be added to their list of development opportunities for the brand), you would be more apt to return because of how he runs his locations. The owner at this location could glean from his brother's approach for sure. Not many options in Columbus, but when I return for a visit, I'll be sure to find a different restaurant to patronize. read more

The floor layout is rather strange, and most of the windows are towards the high ceiling so when you're sitting at your table my only view was rooftops of buildings around us, giving me a feeling that I was sitting in a basement. The staff was nice enough even though some of them had heavy facial piercings and strange haircuts. The one huge complaint I have is that my biscuit was very dry and crunchy. After the second bite the entire biscuit just cracked and fell to pieces in my hand. Also, the quality of the sausage patty seemed like something that would come off of a golden corral breakfast buffet. I realize they are a new restaurant in town and probably having growing pains and that being said, I will probably go back and give them another shot at some point but I have never in my life just had a piece of dry biscuit just crumble and fall to pieces in my hand. read more

Came here for breakfast, and during the giveaway deals very disappointed in the fact that we were seated and six other people behind us got mugs and we did not when we asked about the mugs they informed us that they didn't have anymore, but we overheard another part of the staff saying all they have are the ones for sale, so we never even got mugs but people behind us did. We both ordered coffees and waters. The water was crisp and clean and just amount of ice, and the coffee was robust and had flavor, we both ordered the free Byrd breakfast is one of us had grits and the other one had potatoes the potatoes that came with it had no flavor seasonings or butter. It was pretty dry tasting. The grits were creamy and delicious and would definitely live off of those my biscuit had a hard crust on the bottom unfortunately but the right amount of gravy and my eggs were cooked perfectly. The chicken was spot on, which is very difficult to do, highly impressed by the flavor and cook this of the chicken besides the crusty bottom of the biscuit. The rest of the biscuit was fluffy and had good flavor. it was a very groovy place with uplifting vibes, but some of the staff was very monotone. Did not seem excited to be there. Overall would come back to this establishment just not during any deals, and maybe after staff has been used to the busy area that this establishment resides in. read more

I had the eggs Benedict they were complete crap nothing special about them I had to heavily salt them and use a lot of hot sauce just to make them palatable. The Hollandaise sauce had way too much butter for the egg yolk to hold so it looked like liquid butter on a plate. The Canadian bacon was just cheap crappy discs of flavorlessness. The English muffin tasted like cheap Costco muffins. I had a side biscuit and gravy. The biscuit kind of looked like it was from scratch but I'm pretty sure it was just a "fancy" Sisco biscuit. Which is odd "flying biscuit" I think I would have tried to knock that one out of the park. The gravy was really bad.. I can't really say anything more about the biscuits and gravy.
