Ever been overwhelmed by too many beer options or given a quiz to find your best match? That's Flying Saucer's selling point. Flying Saucer in Garland was the location of my brother's rehearsal dinner. It wasn't the originally planned location since the first venue canceled, but I'm glad we ended up here instead. My girlfriend and I arrived shortly after the party started, looked at their beer list, and were both overwhelmed and impressed by the literally hundreds of options, from draft to canned and bottled selections. They also have a full bar with mixed drinks and wine options, which is great for my grandparents. I drank a La Fin du Monde, which is one of my favorite beers to ever exist, a Guinness, a NA Michelob, and a specialty blackberry cider drink that I was a huge fan of. I wish I remembered what they called it. We had a huge supply of food to choose from, including wings, tenders, quesadillas, and more. But what truly made the night was hanging around Lake Ray Hubbard and enjoying the breeze with our brews. The location truly makes the place what it is. This place is beer heaven. Everyone had a great time at the rehearsal dinner, and Flying Saucer's staff was super attentive the whole night. I was very impressed overall with the experience. Years ago I was a semi-regular at the FS Lake in pursuit of the coveted Saucer which I eventually earned. However, thereafter life got in the way and I didn't get back for a number of years. I loved the place then and I'm heartened to say that I loved it still. Of course it's the beer. Probably the best selection of beers on draft in DFW. With new beers added frequently. Always fresh and well presented. Add to that that the servers are well versed and helpful. The food isn't bad either. The menu is diverse enough so that most diners can find a number of tasty options. My favorite is the Saucer Burger. But I really don't go there for the food. Ambiance is casual. There's a lot of dark wood. Dart boards for the competitive. And seating? I recommend a table near the windows with a view of Lake Ray Hubbard. Or, weather permitting, a table on the deck. Met a few friends for late lunch and we had a wonderful time. First off, the scenery was gorgeous with view of Lake Ray Hubbard. Second, the service was excellent, kept checking on us if we needed anything, and lastly the food, which was excellent! Two of us had fish and chips which was hot and crispy. This place is a vibe. A good amount of outdoor seating that's completely shaded, loud music playing that any millennial would love, right on the water. The food was great too! The hot mama pizza is sooo good and the big pretzel was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Will def be back! The food was really good, but the service was horrible. It was around 4pm in the day and only a few tables to serve. We had a group of 7, but there was plenty of help. There were at least 6 servers. Three of them were hanging out talking behind the bar. I could go on and on. Once again great food and ambiance, bad service. read more

Can I recommend this business? Yes! Great beers, good burger menu and incredible patio dining right on the lake. If the weather is inclement you can belly up to the penny tiled bar, or better yet, pick a booth near the window so you can still get a view of the water. Flying Saucer has streamlined their menu recently, which I think is an improvement. There's a new kale salad, a veggie burger option and pizzas. The waitresses have started wearing short black pleated skirts (I guess to compete with Hooters next door?) Totally unnecessary. They're all very knowledgeable about the beers and can make recommendations. Treat yourself to a flight of beers - there are several options and it's fun to mix and match. This location meets those expectations about 80% of the time, which is why I've given it a solid 4-star rating. The service is pretty good, though not perfect. A perfect Sunday lunch overlooking the lake. Perfect temperature mid Sept so we ate outside right above the water. How nice! Tons of parking because it's in a shopping plaza. It's one of many restaurants lining the lake. They had 4 local ciders on draft. I requested the two sweetest ones--they gave me pineapple and passion fruit cider--both were awesome and not sour at all. The dips were great. The guacamole didn't have enough flavor and was too spicy. The Hot Mama pizza was great. Could definitely taste the honey which I love. Went today for this years fantasy draft. We try and pick a place each year that has a great beer selection. This place has it!!! We were a group of 8, was the 2nd table seated at 1130. Figured we would go early and get great service, as we had our DD. One person got thr steak frites, ordered medium rare, came out well done. We also had a couple of the chips and salsa/cueso, carne fries, chicken sandwich and wings. These all turned out with good flavor. The issue we had was our service from Vanessa R. Either she is new or she couldn't handle multiple tables. We ended up not even needing our DD, as we couldnt get drinks fast enough. First round took 10min. We were the 2nd table seated. It wasnt until noon, when the place started getting filled up. The 2nd round took well over 15min. Heck the DD only got one refill of tea. We were there over two hours. Very slow service from this waiter. We ended up ordering food and drinks from another waitress after our draft. In the end, we know she works for tips and we all gave good tips, but dang this place need either more waitresses or better trained waitresses. The point of going here is to drink a few beers and socialize. The people with the plates, the rate of todays service would take years. read more

I'm going to be quite honest and amid I was a bit timid about coming here. The reviews were mixed and the menu isn't large. We probably pass this place 100 times but tonight we decided to go for it. It was 8:00 and parking lot was packed so we were nervous about getting in. But we walked in and no wait whatsoever seat yourself. The fact that we could get in made me even more nervous. But we went out to the patio with a beautiful water. I'm not going to pretend like service was the best service we've ever had but right now in our current environment I think we just need to appreciate our servers for doing all they can especially when being short staffed. My husband loves good wings and we really have struggled with finding any in the area that doesn't require an extra 25 minutes drive that we love. So we decided to get that for an appetizer along with the tostadas. We also ordered two beers. My husband was shocked! The wings were hot, crispy and really large. Probably the best we've had in this area. The tostadas were crispy, great flavor and super surprising I would highly recommend. for actual meal we wanted to try a couple of different things and got one of their pizzas with sausage and honey. It was excellent The only thing I would do next time is add a little pepperoni. We also got the crispy chicken sandwich which was a huge piece of chicken and was cooked perfectly. They have been great hosts for our book club. The meat and cheese plate with the pretzel is a nice snack to go with a stout.

So here's the deal, we have been to this on 4 times and every time there is some issue, never the servers or food, but lousy Management. Three times we have been there and it was so hot inside we had to leave. Once we asked if the could turn on air and it's seemed to get hotter. Lol. The last two times we were there we have tried to order our beer just to find out they are out. Then take off menu if you aren't going to keep in stock or learn how to order correctly if it's a big seller. Funny every time the servers made comments about the bad management. I've been coming here for a long time. Every Monday is pint night so that means $4 pints. It's perfect to try different craft beers from all over the nation. If you like good beer and a good view come here. We at outside and overlooked the lake and it's beautiful. I always get the hippie hollow or the turkey meltdown to eat. Those two things are delicious. Come out here on a beautiful evening and sit outside and drink a beer you will love it. I also recommend the hummus. It does have a kick to it so just a heads up. Didn't realize we had these in the Dallas area, but found this on one the lake with amazing patio seating over looking the boats and water. I got the Suace Burger and it was amazing. Take that with a grain of salt as I hadn't eaten all day and was starving. But the burger was juicy, flavorful and hot! I think I ate the big ass burger in three bites. I'm going to start by letting you know I took off a star because the sit where you please and wait to be served service means, that you might get served later than people who arrived WAY after you if your waiter isn't attentive, which is what happened to us. Not ideal if you are coming HUNGRY. A manager eventually noticed us and got our orders in, got us waters and drinks, and eventually our waitress came by to say hello. The food was on point, yum. The parking is galore and free. I would come back, but not if I'm near that hangry point and cant wait a bit for service. It's a good hang out spot. Just had dinner with friends here. My wife and I are those people that sometimes get apps for entrees. She had the Bavarian pretzel. It was perfect! Big as a dinner plate, crisp on outside and doughy inside. Cheese sauce and mustard dips were spot on. I had the wings. I asked for spiciest possible and server recommended the hot buffalo with their spicy dry rub. The wings were 4 times the size of wing places and her recommendation was perfect. They were very spicy and totally enjoyable. Friend had fish and chips - only issue was fries were cold, which was corrected quickly. I'm not a beer guy (Paloma was excellent, I might have had two...), but beer menu had 200 beers on it. For sure would recommend. Staff was good and view of lake was nice. read more

They have been in business for over 14 years at this location (they have multiple locations in Texas and across the country). I had my three beers toward my plate (you MUST join the club). They have a great selection of beers (84 taps and bottles/cans over 150). Service was quick, friendly, and attentive (thanks Jordan). Full bar and food menu. TVs and room for large parties.
