It was my wife's birthday today and she decided she wanted the Foxtail for dinner. We had gotten the community card earlier and previously had the brick chicken dinner which was delicious. Shout out to Pierce Tavern and Skuddlebutts as well! The lemon vinaigrette for the salad was particularly delicious. For the bday dinner my wife really wanted the Lemon Tree Bowl of Good Stuff but it was only offered as a family meal. When I called and asked, the chef graciously made it a individual meal (which was big enough to give my healthcare working bday girl enough leftovers for lunch for the next 2 days. I mentioned how it was her birthday and they asked for her name to put a card in our order which was awesome. I got the chicken and waffles and it was awesome. I now place it as crave worthy as a Mojos cheesesteak. The chicken was super crispy, and the waffle leaned towards more savory but was excellent all together with the blue cheese sauce and honey. My daughter really enjoyed her cheeseburger as well! As a special aside, not only did they put a card in our order, they also gave us a free dessert which was also truly delicious. It really helped make my wife's birthday extra special which I'm so appreciative of. We'll be back many times and look forward to dining in for a date night hopefully soon. read more

The Foxtail just opened in the past few days. My friend and I went for dinner. While everyone was very nice, menu was limited and pricey and didn't go with the ambiance. We ordered burgers "red" and they came out "brown" (the restaurant's terms). Burger's were good; however two burgers and two glasses of wine were $63 before tip. Servers were dressed more like a country-western theme. Brunch, lunch, dinner, raw bar, craft cocktails and live music. We didn't hear live music. NOT VEGETARIAN OR VEGAN FRIENDLY! I went to The Foxtail for a party last weekend. I made it clear to our server that I am a vegetarian and ordered the mac n cheese. The mac n cheese is not very flavorful, though it was a large serving. We were in a large party that had ordered 3 mac n cheese dishes, two with meat (chicken and shrimp.) Somehow I ended up being served the shrimp mac and someone else got my just cheese mac. Not having eaten any meat or seafood for over a decade, I thought the chunks were cheese curds until I had my partner try it. He confirmed it was shrimp. Unfortunately I had already eaten quite a bit of it and no staff realized the mistake before giving it me. We made them aware of the mistake after we had figured it out, they were very apologetic and the general manager even came to speak with me. They wanted to know what they could do to make it right, unfortunately there was nothing to be done at that point, so they just comped the meal at my request. They have about two vegan options and said you could make changes to the dishes to suit you, but it seems you cannot be sure that your food will be meat free! Also in my opinion they should work on their organization in reservations, specifically not booking them back to back. It is one of those places where every detail is laid down to a tee, but for as well-off as it is, everyone here is SUPER friendly! Third time I've been here. The ambience is very nice. It was a Friday night and packed for dinner. Server was very pleasant but had too many tables it seemed so we didn't see her as much as we would have liked. Food was good but not great. They actually brought out dirty plates with our appetizers. Lavender haze martini was very good and so was key lime cheesecake for dessert. Halibut and pork chop entrees were served in too much sauce. I've been for brunch and thought that was better. read more

Great spot - more of a date night or treat-yourself occasion though because it can be pricey depending on what you order. The vibe is very classy and sophisticated inside, while the patio is more chill outside. I absolutely LOVE the taleggio flatbread - omg, it is a game changer. The cheese is baked on the inside of the pita-like crust... then topped with arugula, truffle, and honeycomb... to die for good!!! We've had to pick it up on occasion just because I was craving it. The lobster dynamite and grilled octopus were both decadent and craveable, just really well done. The wings were also super interesting - a unique take for sure with herbs, garlic and lemon, another must-try. We started with the lamb and beef Kefka..fabulous..we shared the watermelon and feta salad it was enough for two and it was also fabulous my husband couldn't stop talking about it lol.. my husband had the bacon wrap pork chop and I had the black bass.. everything was delicious . I don't want to sound overly poetic but this is not just a restaurant with a cook who knows what they are doing. Chef Maya has skillfully integrated her passion and her life into a menu. This unpretentious but beautiful restaurant is a treasure hidden in the Western suburbs of Chicago. Expertly run on the frontend, the kitchen is home to a chef that brings her world of knowledge and experience to life. Sometimes you go out to eat and all you expect is a decent meal but this place is on a different level - like Michelin star level. It would not do anyone justice to merely say that the food here is delicious (which it is), the staff is great (excellent, in fact), and the place is beautiful (instagram worthy). But it's more than that. And I think you just need to go there to taste what I'm talking about. read more

I hosted my bridal shower at The Foxtail a couple of weeks ago, and had to write a review to say how spectacular the entire experience was from start to finish. I also want to put at the beginning of my review how INCREDIBLE the food and drinks were (my guests still cannot stop talking about it!). Starting with the planning process, the managers were not only incredibly enthusiastic about hosting my shower (which was SO appreciated, especially in the times we are in) but also very responsive to any questions I had and open to my ideas. They were transparent about pricing and that we would have to select food for our pre-selected menu closer to the date, as they have a seasonal menu. They even sent me multiple pictures of their event room from all different angles so I/my planner could work on decor! A couple of days before the shower, they sat down and reviewed everything with my family and I so that we felt certain that our event would run as planned. On the day of the shower, the entire staff at the Foxtail was truly incredible. There was plenty of waitstaff available to quickly and promptly place appetizers as guests arrived, keep our mimosa bar fully stocked, and take orders/deliver food to guests. Multiple people checked in on us throughout the event, including one of the managers. She was so thoughtful and kind in all of her interactions with me, and made me feel very special. The food was honestly unbelievable and mimosas were absolutely delicious. Their event room was absolutely beautiful, and had lots of natural light from the big windows which allowed for gorgeous photos. To say everything was perfect would be an understatement. If you are looking for a new favorite restaurant with the best ambiance, drinks, and food- this will be it! We had a great experience at the foxtail! The ambiance is cozy and clean. As far as drinks, we ordered bloody Mary's and mimosas and both were fantastic. The food was off the charts, we had a big group and ordered the octopus, the pork chops, tuna poke bowl, avocado toast and Mediterranean omelette. Everyone was very satisfied with their orders. Our first time at the Fox Tail in Downers Grove. Love the decor of this place and the openness of the restaurant. The drinks were excellent! I recommend the Big Wood if you are a bourbon drinker. The Maine Lobster Dynamite appetizer was outstanding. We had the Black Bass and Bacon Wrapped Pork Chop. One of the servers kept showing us the food as they brought it out to other customers. Had a very great dinner with my boyfriend here. Highly recommend! The interior design is absolutely gorgeous and has a wonderful atmosphere. The staff is very very nice and welcoming. We were immediately greeted by multiple staff the moment we walked in. Javier was our server. He had an extensive knowledge of everything on the menu as well as a giving us a nice background of the chef and the way she prepares her food. The food was out in a more than timely manner and was absolutely delicious. Was a great experience all around from start to finish and would definitely recommend to anyone who has not tried it yet! 10/10 would recommend. This place is a standing example of how restaurants should be in the area. I hope all the restaurants in the area and those in the future learn something from foxtail. There are only a couple other restaurants like this in the area, unless you drive to the city. The chef is great, always adding new items to the menu. I have tried everything except for 3-4 times on this menu and everything has been pretty solid. There is a wide variety of drinks, I would suggest trying them all. My favorite is "I would do anything for rum". The first time I got it, I did not like it. It's actually really good. The service is great. The servers are very attentive and always take care of you. Management is on top of the game. Claudia has a grip on the entire team. The atmosphere is solid, indoor and outdoor. Perfect table placement with umbrella's to shade from the sun. Indoor seating has a variety of seating arrangements. Small booth, couch with seat, and regular tables. A single bar seat to a large party. Covering Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Group of 28 in the side room. Nice place. First timer. Good old fashions, I would rate the Bloody Mary flavor a 2, probably the worst I have had. Over all our group probably ordered 8-10 of them and I didn't see a single one finished. The lobster appetizer was good but it was served Luke warm at best. The wings were amazing but there do not serve any side sauce with them, the only option was a garlic aioli, which came 1/2 later and was $1.50 for about a tablespoon of it. The flat bread was very good, but it's more of a stuffed flat bread almost like a quesadilla. Burger and fries were good. The bacon with the scrambled eggs was very good. read more

They were delicious but the octopus portion was too small for the price. The grilled shrimp was super flavorful and we loved the paella. My son even loved the grilled chicken kids dish. Bright and airy venue. Food was excellent for everyone in my party. The waiter was knowledgeable and the service was excellent.

The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was good but our food took forever to get to us. Everything tasted great once we got it, but we waited over 20 min for our appetizer and 40 min for the entrees. I guess I'd recommend this place, but don't be in a hurry.
