I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. We started with an Arnold Palmer, and the lemonade was extremely sour--and not in a good way. My sister ordered the chicken sandwich, and the chicken did not taste fresh at all. Overall, the food was simply disappointing. The service also needs some attention. After we finished eating, our plates and food remained on the table and were never cleared. I don't necessarily want to blame the staff, because it appeared to be a very young team, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, I do think they may benefit from additional training on basic restaurant service and how to properly attend to guests throughout their meal. I genuinely wanted to have a positive experience here, which is what makes this review disappointing to write. I'm sure there are other good things on the menu, but why would you order them when you could get perfectly seasoned fried chicken on top of a delicious waffle? Just trust me on this. What a cute restaurant! It Was empty on a very rainy day when we came in the afternoon but then later on filled up. Started with the espresso and arancini - espresso was very strong. The arancini was delicious crispy on the outside, perfectly creamy on the inside. I was underwhelmed with my short rib ravioli - it honestly was more like a soups than a pasta dish with the broth. It was just ok. The tiramisu was very creamy and I loved the crunchy milk chocolate pearls on top, it gave it great texture. This evening we attended my company's holiday party. The venue was The Franklin in Secaucus. It was closed for this private event. The service was excellent. The 3 young women I saw most of the evening were professional and helpful. They checked our coats with a smile. The food and cocktails were delicious. I'd overall give this place a 3.5/5. My fiancé and I went for dinner on a Friday night. The restaurant is located in the middle of a neighborhood and it's all street parking. When you walk in there's a bar section but when you walk towards the back, there's more seating. Our waitress was great and friendly. We started off with cocktails and ordered the cacio e Pepe arancini as an app. The sauce was more on the heavier and creamy side but tasted good. My fiancé ordered the vodka pasta as his entree and I ordered the chicken francese special. The chicken was okay, more on the blander side and the pasta was just okay. I came here on a Sunday for a lunch date around 2:30 pm ish and I ordered a peach iced tea and I ordered a pasta dish as my main entree. I ordered the cacio e pepe pasta dish. I like the texture of the pasta and it tasted absolutely phenomenal! I would definitely want to come back here and try their cocktails and other food options from their menu. We also shared an appetizer an octopus appetizer and it was so flavorful with the garlic and lime juice. I cut up pieces of the octopus and dipped it into the remaining juice on the plate. As a local, I've been coming to this restaurant since it opened and have recommended it to countless friends and family. It used to be one of my favorite spots. I've been here dozens of times, celebrated special occasions, and even encouraged my sister to host her daughter's graduation dinner here earlier this year. When they first opened, bread was brought to the table automatically. That later changed to bread only being served if you asked for it, which was fine. But during our most recent visit, a large group dinner with a bill over $900, we were surprised to see a $3 charge for each bread basket. It's not about the $3. It's about the principle. It felt petty, especially considering the size of our bill and the fact that bread was never charged in the past. What made things worse was when I asked our server how a certain drink tasted. She brought me a small sample in a shot glass, which I thought was just a courtesy, and I later saw I was charged $5 for it with no warning. Again, it's not the money, it's the lack of transparency that was disappointing. I suspect there has been a change in management. The food quality has slipped too. What once felt like a neighborhood gem now feels like a place cutting corners and chasing profits instead of taking care of its customers. You didn't just lose one customer over a $3 bread basket. You lost several. I won't be recommending this place anymore. They did refund the $5 for the drink sample but told me the bread has always been charged. That's just not true. But go ahead and keep the $6 for the bread. I'll keep the thousands I would have continued spending here. Really unfortunate to see how far this place has fallen. read more

Mother's Day dinner was disappointing. There was a limited menu, portions were small, wait staff was young and inattentive. Service was slow. They don't put bread on the table, you have to ask for it and then they charge you for it. Some of our utensils were dirty as well as one of our water glasses. They had no decaf coffee made and the regular coffee was burnt and tasted like it was from the day before. The bill was expensive and not worth it. It was disappointing because we usually get a good meal here and overlook the silly bread thing but this meal wasn't the usual good meal we have come to expect. Disappointed! On a Thursday evening, the bartender Cindy was completely disengaged, spending most of her time sitting in the back on her phone rather than attending to customers. The bistro has a potentially charming interior, but the lack of attentive staff completely undermined any positive ambiance. We shared the Octopus for appetizer, was pretty good. Too bad we didn't get any service after that to explore the menu further We ultimately left after our first round of drinks and appetizer due to the inattentive service. The Franklin in Seacaucus is such a cute brunch spot! My cousin had made a reservation for large group of 16 and they were able to accommodate which was great. The restaurant is decorated for the holidays and they had a beautiful Christmas tree right in the dining room. Their brunch menu has a good variety of foods- the usual eggs platters, omelettes, salads, and sandwiches. And also a good menu of specialty drinks and wine. It was recommended to get the skirt steak and that is what I had ordered. Unfortunately it was a bit overcooked for my taste. But the other people in our group had enjoyed their food. I haven't visited their Jersey City location yet but was excited to visit their newer location in Secaucus. The Franklin is beautiful! I loved the ambiance. Perfect for a date night. My girls and I started with their margarita, a classic. It was SOOOO GOOD. I love margaritas that are made with fresh ingredients. For our app, we decided on the antipasto platter. It was a good variety of meats and cheeses my friends loved it. Now for the star, our entrees. I had to order the salmon which was cooked to perfection. Hollandaise was broken and was almost foamy not sure if they blended with emulsifier or something but not visually appealing. I love this place (the food, and service) but i can't give it 5 star because takeout is a bust. They use those boxes that make the food soggy. Today I ordered take out. I ordered the quacamole burger and my husband ordered the scallops with corn. My husbands order was in a plastic container and came intact and looked great. My burger buns had to be tossed because they were soggy. The quacamole was water by the time the soggy. Its an expensive meal to have to toss half of it. This is not the first time they used the boxes which they use as doggy bags. Eachtime depending on the food left over or order for take out the food is not the same. Just to be clear the on-site service is wonderful and this is a great place to eat in but until they get rid of those boxes i will not order take-out or bring home any doggy bags. read more

I sat at the bar and Brittney was our bartender and she was nice. I caught the tail end of the happy hour and ordered the pinot nior and it was tasty. This past weekend was the second time I was here for dinner and once again it was stellar. My friend and I enjoyed the burrata crostini appetizer which was delicious. I had the chipotle shrimp and pasta and it was also delicious - pasta and shrimp were cooked perfectly and it was very cheesy and loved the sauce which was not very spicy at all. My friend had the burger with burrata and avocado with sweet potato fries and she loved it. We each had a great cup of coffee and a nice big slice of yummy bread pudding with ice cream on top for dessert. Great service and good food. We came into this place after work and being it is new I town. We wanted to give it a try. This place is fairly a descent size with a large bar. A great place for a date night or just to have a few glass of wine/beer with friends. The food is good. I ordered the medium prime rib, but it came out well done. Without any heistation the staff took my steak back and fired up anew one cooked to medium as I ordered. That is what I called service. My wife ordered the salmon with risotto. The salmone was cooked to perfection but the risotto was a bit on the salty side. So word of advice, if you ordered the risotto, ask for less salt. We got the mussels and crab cakes for appetizers. The creamy tomato sauce was great, but wish they gave a few more mussels and pieces of toasts. Since the shell typically take up most of the bowel, after removing the shell there really wasn't that much. And being the sauce was great I hope they had give a pieces or two more of the toast to really get that sauce into my stomach. The crab cake was great and do recommend getting it. The salad that came with the crab cake would do a bit better if it was dress some some light tangy vinegrett to accompany the richness of the crab cake. But all in all it was a great meal. The wife and I will definitely head back to try other items on the menu. The staff again was extremely friendly and attentive. Being very hungry, we took a chance going off the known path and 'yelped' our way to The Franklin. What a pleasant surprise on such an unassuming neighborhood corner! Upon walking in, we were hopeful that we'd made a good decision. I've never ordered octopus before, but wanted to be adventurous. Very nice char, and the brown butter made for a nice light sauce to dip in. I was immediately drawn to the hanger steak, but found myself torn between that and the lamb. My lunchmate got the steak, so I got the lamb, an easy split decision. While very happy with my choice, I am confident I'll be getting the steak next time! Brittney was definitely memorable, making recommendations and being both patient and attentive. One thing I enjoyed was the variety of the menu, many different flavors, different proteins, fresh produce prepared in a thoughtful way, and yet, in such an expeditious manner!
