We got one sweet & one savory dish because that's the best way to brunch! The Steak & Eggs was surprisingly good! The hanger steak was juicy, tender, and well-seasoned. I had asked for the eggs to be soft scrambled and I felt like they were a touch overcooked but still enjoyable and paired well with the steak. My boyfriend and I have been wanting to try brunch at Anthony David's for quite some time. We finally had a chance to pop in on an early Saturday afternoon. While we were seated inside almost immediately, we waited almost 20 minutes for a server to come check in with us. Ordered the nutella donuts, eggs any style, french toast and bacon benedict, along with the Jalisco Flower and Bloody Maria. The brunch cocktails were a highlight of our meal. Had things gone better, we would have had another round. The donuts came out shockingly fast. However, they were incredibly dense, and the nutella sauce was extremely watered down and more of a generic chocolate sauce. The french toast and bacon benedict was perplexing. Benedicts traditionally come with hollandaise sauce- none to be found here. There was also an overwhelming amount of coconut on the french toast, which was not disclosed in the entree description. Other french toast descriptions advertise a coconut butter - this was not a butter consistency, but rather a layer of mushy shredded coconut on top. The watered down nutella sauce ended up being a nice sauce for the french toast. It was pretty warm and cramped in the area we were sitting. Our server never came back to refill our water during our meal. For over $100 (including tip) for brunch for 2, there seem to be better places in Hoboken to have a boozy brunch. read more

Went to Anthony David's for brunch with my parents and had a really good experience. We had an outdoor reservation (definitely recommend one if you're going on a Sunday it was packed and I didn't see many open tables inside or out). Even though it was a hot day, the patio had plenty of shade and it's a nice spot right off Washington Street. Service was great, our server was super attentive. I started with a mimosa, which was good but had a ton of pulp (never seen that in a mimosa before). Not a dealbreaker, but I'm not a pulp person. The iced coffee was really solid though. For food, I got the Southwestern omelet with potatoes. The omelet itself was on the smaller side, so if you come hungry, maybe go for something more filling but the potatoes were excellent. They had a little spice to them, tossed in sauce, and weren't dry at all. Easily some of the best breakfast potatoes I've had. We also split the bourbon-glazed donuts, which were the highlight of the meal. Think munchkin-style, but with a strong bourbon kick in the glaze. Sweet, bold, and honestly the best thing we ordered. Been here twice now and the food has been pretty good both times. This time when we went I think we ordered the arancini which was good but needed more sauce to dip with it. Then we got the ricotta gnocchi in vodka sauce and that was soft delicate bites that melted in the mouth. It was quite tasty and was devoured. We also got the chicken scarpariello which we loved when we went last so we reordered it. It's simple and flavorful. For dessert we got the chocolate brownie with vanilla gelato it was decent. For a drink I got the smoke on hudson and enjoyed it. They serve it and light up to smoke it which gives an aesthetic. They have an outdoor sitting space and indoor space that is smaller. read more

It is not a trip to Hoboken without stopping at Anthony David's for brunch! This has been one of my favorite go to places for easily 6-7 years now. Reservations are a must even on weekdays! It is always packed and especially on weekends. Their service is always phenomenal making sure you have fresh drinks and a full glass of water. I highly recommend the mimosas as they are made with fresh orange juice which makes a huge difference in flavor! I highly recommend you get their bourbon glazed donuts to start. They are deliciously fluffy and packed with flavor. I always order the French toast with their famous coconut butter. The bread is perfectly crisp and fluffy making it delicious French toast! I always get a side of their crispy bacon and well done home fries as well. My friend ordered their egg platter and she was throughly impressed as the portion size and how good everything was. They have inside and outside seating. The indoor seating can be a bit cramped depending on where you are seated. Went to lunch at Anthony David's with my sister the other day. It was an interesting experience. We sat outside, and since tables are tight, we got lunch and a show. Unfortunately, the couple next to us seemed to be having some problems, and by the end of the soap opera of an argument, it seems like they'll be going their separate ways. I say all this to warn to be prepared to be neighbors with the tables next to you. However, now for the food! It's a cute little brunch/lunch spot. I wasn't really expecting much, but the sandwiches were pretty good! We definitely both finished our dishes. She got the burrata panini, which came with prosciutto, burrata, arugula, and I believe a balsamic dressing. I got the crabcake sandwich which came with some kind of aïoli and a brioche bun. Both were excellent. I will say, though they need to pull it back on the dressing on the salads. Or maybe put it on the side. I couldn't even eat my salad because the dressing tasted like straight vinegar. It was pungent lol. The fresh orange juice was great, however, if you intend to get the 5 ounce don't let them talk you into a 12 ounce haha. Fresh squeezed is so rich and sweet, that a 5 ounce would've been plenty. As long-time Hoboken residents (10+ years), we've always enjoyed Anthony David's for its food -- though the service has typically been just "okay." Unfortunately, our visit for brunch on Saturday, October 25th was the worst service experience we've ever had there. We were seated outside and had to ask five separate times for a small plate for our 1-year-old's meal. It took roughly 45 minutes just to place our order, and not with our original waiter. Then we waited over an hour for our food, only receiving it after asking where it was. By that point, our toddler's nap time was minutes away, and we had to rush through the meal. There was no apology from the staff, and to make matters worse, the tip was pre-charged, leaving no opportunity to reflect the poor service. We've supported this restaurant for years, but after this experience, we won't be returning for brunch again. Disappointing service can happen anywhere -- but indifference and lack of accountability shouldn't. read more

This has become my favorite casual spot in Hoboken for brunch and dinner. The service is always solid and the food is delicious. I really like the wild boar ragu with pappardelle for dinner, and the pistachio gelato is a great way to end the meal. For brunch I'd recommend the spicy chorizo eggs benedict. We came for the star of the show--the coconut butter French toast--and it did not disappoint. But the real surprise was the Bell & Evans Crispy Chicken Sandwich. The breading was perfectly golden, light, and crunchy, yet packed with flavor. It doesn't come with a sauce, but I added mayo and a side of chipotle aioli, which only took it to the next level (though honestly, it's fantastic even without--this is just coming from a self-proclaimed saucy girl). The restaurant itself is adorable, the service warm and attentive, and both the cappuccino and freshly squeezed OJ were excellent. The mimosa was good but definitely needed a bit more alcohol , tasted more like orange juice with a splash of Prosecco. Bathroom was ok but not the cleanest , specially at that one of the day . After a year and a half passing this place and always wanting to check it out--I finally did for brunch on a Monday morning. What a great experience. This space inside is super cozy and cute, the bar area definitely seems to have a great vibe for dinner time. For brunch, my friend and I shared the Chopped Kale, Pear & Gorgonzola Salad, Guacamole and Spicy Chorizo Benedict, and Nutella Donuts and my oh my! was it alllll delicious! The donuts were warm, little crisp on the outside with the perfect soft and fluffy texture inside with an incidbly delicious and smooth Nutella sauce that wasn't too sweet just perfect. The salad was also delicious and so refreshing, it was nicely dressed, the chicken breast was well cooked--a great overall salad. The Benedict was delicious as well! It says spicy chorizo but it was more mild than spicy which was fine with me! Overall, great experience with food and service. The young man was very attentive and friendly. The house whipped ricotta was a delicious appetizer and the Braised lamb shank, Pistachio crusted branzino, Scallops and Hangar steak, all received high compliments. The candle lit private back room (even your own bathroom) created a warm, intimate setting for our party. Add to this a responsive staff, friendly service and attention to dietary needs. To start I got an Irish coffee. I have to say. Definitely the best thing about the visit. How did I never have one of these before? Coffee, Jameson and whipped cream. Definitely gonna be adopting this on my own, especially at $11 cup. For sure, I'm grateful for this being introduced to me, but that's way high for a spiked cup of coffee pretty much. I got the Guacamole and Spicy Chorizo Benedict. Good not great. It was filling for sure. The chorizo and guac weren't bad but whew $20 again, way too high and way too many potatoes to pad the actual dish. It was decent, but surely isn't worth that menu price. So, my impressions of Anthony David are it's the same old Quasi NYC, Jersey City/Hoboken/Weehawken fare inflated Moreso by where it is and whose name is tacked on to the place making it more about being trendy then actually good and at a value for what you get. It's not bad but I've had similar fare for lower price and just as good or better. I also asked for over medium eggs and got a fully cooked yolk. Also, portion of fries could be a bit bigger since the bread isn't amazing? Just saying since I have brunch almost every weekend and for the price, I have definitely had bigger portions and higher quality. But if you like smaller portions, this place is pretty good. We had the Jalisco flower cocktail and you just can't go wrong the tequila with the sparkling wine makes this cocktail so subtle and tasty. Let's talk Benedicts!! They have mastered these dishes and the potatoes that come with them are just perfectly flavored! You have to love a group of friends that you can split your meal with because that's what we do. We all had different favorites. And ironically it was not what we ordered for ourselves. My favorite was the French toast croissant it's the perfect sweet and savory. The crab cake was also delicious though I wish the patty was a little bigger and for the guac and chorizo a little less guac for me. But you can't wrong with anything on the menu. It had 3 rooms each cuter then the next. We were in the middle room. They have outside seating but because of the movie there were restrictions for sitting out there and since we were doing a catch-up we ate inside. We started w a taste of the telligo cheese because we hadn't had it before. My new favorite Italian Cheese. Cream flavorful and so yummy.
