We chose this location for the fair pricing and for the complete freedom to choose your own decor and express your own flair and personality. The new owner Priya was very accommodating with us and answered all our questions. She made the transition from the previous owner to herself very smooth for us and also their renovations added a fresh, beautiful, and modern look to the venue. But I have to say the star of the show was our day of coordinator Alyssa. She made our entire experience so seamless and organized. She helped us every single step of the way from the moment we first talked to her a few weeks leading up to the wedding. She answered all our questions and went out of her way to make sure we were happy which was a challenge when you have a village putting together your incredible wedding. She handled everything with such kindness, patience, and had amazingly positive energy from beginning to end. I truly couldn't have done this without her! You can almost forget that you're in the middle of a high traffic area. This venue has plenty of space to hold different size gatherings. The wedding I was part of had a capacity of about 50 people. The front yard was used for the ceremony. The back area hosted the reception. Concrete floor, but, not too bad for dancing the night away. There is a grassy area where pictures were taken. There is a bride's room to get ready in, and was located inside the house. The groom's room, which I was able to venture in, was just off the garage area. Small, but, it included a restroom so that was convenient. Overall, a great option for an urban oasis style wedding. read more

As a wedding planner, I've had the pleasure of collaborating with numerous venues, and I must say, my experience with the venue coordinator Alyssa was absolutely wonderful. They just changed ownership the day before my client's wedding, but the staff is all the same. Alyssa's attention to detail, and responsiveness were great and she was easy to work with. Her proactive approach truly set her apart as one of the best venue coordinators I've had the pleasure of working with. Just a few tips for those looking at this venue: - The wedding has to be done by 9pm, so it's not for late night partiers - This venue is open for DIY and has some light decor of their own that you can use - It is cheaper than many other venues (prices are on their website) - if weather looks like it might rain, make sure RENT A TENT which my client had to do. This is a venue with a variety of backgrounds, textures, and lighting. The house is full of charm and character. The lush greenery provides a nice contrast while the market lights are a nice accent at night. Given that it is in a residential area, parking is limited (but there's a shuttle) and end time is earlier than at most venues (something to keep in mind if you want to party hard and long). My client did not hire the onsite coordinator, but Karen was present and she was very helpful and accommodating to my photo team and I. If you are hosting a summer wedding (June-August), I recommend considering setting up garden umbrellas or providing parasols to your guests for the ceremony portion as it does get hot. We came here for a wedding - it's a beautiful location with a nice grassy area with wedding trellis for the ceremony and a large patio with twinkly lights for the reception. The wedding couple had booked a traditional taco cart with handmade tortillas to order - absolutely delicious! On the negative side, there was not a lot of organization in the service. For instance, no trash cans to be found in the vicinity. No staff to assist at the bar, just one poor frazzled woman who made a valiant effort in keeping up with our voracious drinking. Very light table service so we ended up getting up and grabbing our own water pitchers from a side bar. I think it's somebody's home that they rent out so every event coordinator is kind of left to figure it out. The last thing is the parking - The French Estate is located in a residential neighborhood so they ask that you don't park there. Instead park at a nearby parking lot and take a shuttle. It worked out okay and the shuttle driver was very friendly. read more

We aren't really DJ people and didn't care so much about whether people danced at our wedding, but we were a little sad that the sound system blew out from the wedding the night before ours. First of all, Sarah was so sweet and personable. We had a destination wedding and just wanted to have a small in-town celebration for our closest friends and family that were unable to attend our wedding. This was the perfect place! Sarah helped us find the best package to fit our needs. She was accommodating and not pushy at all. The place was so perfect for what we wanted. We wanted to be able to bring in our own vendors and this place allowed us to do just that. There weren't any minimums or additional fees hidden. Everything was straight forward. The backyard was beautiful and my family had the best time! I also want to add, we had problem with the event coordinator we had personally hired and had to fire her 2 weeks before the wedding. I had nothing done, so last minute we took Sarah's suggestion and hired Susan as our wedding coordinator. To say Susan was a blessing is an understatement!!!! Susan stepped right in and basically planned the whole thing in less than 2 weeks. Susan not only did a remarkable job decorating and coordinating, she was just an angel when it came to calming down my nerves. She has such a pleasant way about her that relieved my anxiety. Went to a wedding here recently and the place is super cute! I feel like with a bit more effort put toward up-keep it could be a great place. Pros: -Very charming and rustic. Everything a Pinterest wedding needs. -Has a good sized front yard, and a spacious back yard so it allows for people to have some options. -Bartender was really kind and sweet. -They had an adorable couch/lounge chair seating area in the backyard that made pictures amazing. Cons: -The chairs were literally falling apart. They are wooden frames with a cushion that is meant to fit in the frame, but continuously kept falling out. At one point, an older gentleman actually fell because the cushion just fell through the chair. Also, they were white, so you could tell they are not very clean. -The bathroom was pretty disgusting. I went to the bathroom before the event even started and it was already gross. -The woman who was running the event looked pretty miserable to be there. I understand that she does weddings all the time and they probably aren't super exciting to her, but this is somebody's biggest and most exciting day of their lives. A little more enthusiasm would have been appreciated. read more

My wife and I booked the French Estate to host our reception in June of 2020. Unfortunately, we weren't able to move forward with our party due to the Pandemic. The owner Sarah was kind enough to less us reschedule our date to January 2021 without any penalties. When the time came around, we were still not out of the Pandemic weeds, and the numbers were still on the rise. After much consideration, my wife and I thought it was our best interest and our guest's interest to not move forward with our reception. We spoke to Sarah about canceling the event and came to a resolution of our refund. She was kind enough to give 50% of our initial deposit. I've lived two minutes away from The French Estate for the past five years, always passing by to admire it from afar and see it's shimmering lights as I drive by. When I decided I wanted to do a BIG birthday for my daughters first birthday, this was the first place I went to. I met Sarah who helped with booking the venue and gave me a tour of the beautiful property. I booked five months in advance and a week before the event I get a text from a woman named Edith, informing me she would be my personal hostess for the day of the party. Throughout the week I texted her random questions about the venue, measurements, table sizes, which she was always incredibly helpful and prompt with. But what really sold it for me, was when we showed up 1.5 hour prior to the start of the party with A LOT of stuff to set up, Edith went to town and was always coming up to me asking, "okay now what can I help with? What next?". The stuff she was helping me and my family set up for my daughters first birthday was 100% beyond her job requirement and I appreciated her so much so for that. This is the most beautiful, quaint, whimsical, sweet and serene setting for your next event. I booked The French Estate for my son's wedding rehearsal luncheon on October 11, 2019. The venue is so perfect for an outdoor party or wedding. The garden is really lovely. Sarah was so nice. We experienced Santa Ana winds the day before our party and in the morning of. Sarah and her crew were busy sweeping up the debris when I arrived to set up. Tables and linens were already set up for us. Umbrellas were put out and Sarah was very helpful in suggesting where things should be set up. Items in the back shed were at our disposal to use during the party. We used the venue's corn hole game, wood slices for the tables, drink tubs and easels. We booked Taco Bar Catering (I left an awesome review of them too) to cook onsite. The French Estate had the perfect location to set that up. Our guests just loved the relaxed atmosphere of the venue. It is really quite unique and such a find. It was so nice to be able to wander around, play games, enjoy good food and good wine. It was so much better than a rehearsal dinner stuck in a banquet room of a restaurant. I would highly recommend booking The French Estate for any party. The French Estate is a perfect wedding venue for those who are looking for a serene and gorgeous secret-garden wedding. There is so much natural beauty already that hardly any additional decorations are needed. During our wedding venue search, my husband and I were looking for a natural outdoor setting that wouldn't require building the reception from the ground up. The French Estate was the perfect place, with a garden water fountain in the front and great vintage French-themed touches throughout the venue. We had about 85 guests, and everyone fit comfortably in the ceremony and reception areas. The French Estate catering and cake package is a great bonus because the vendors are professional, are already familiar with the site, and provide quality service...and the food and cake were delicious! Plus, the venue package included a private shuttle service since the parking is off-site. Our guests had a blast riding on the adorable San Francisco-style trolley. Sarah, the venue owner and wedding planner, is very accommodating and great to work with. Her wedding planning experience made the whole process straightforward. The only drawback is that music must end at 9pm since the venue is in a residential area. However, we planned an after-party at a nearby restaurant so the celebration could continue. One suggestion is to get the Market Umbrellas for the ceremony and reception areas. We got married in July, and the umbrellas provided great relief from the sun. read more

This is possibly the BEST place to have your wedding in Orange County. I had passed by this place too many times to count and decided when I got engaged, this is where the wedding would be. Sarah was wonderful to work with, the whole discussion and planning was smooth, our date was wide open (hint, book really early), and everything we were hoping to do was fine by her. The only challenge for people who are more partiers than we are is that the venue does have you turn off the music at 9pm because it is in a neighborhood (but tbh, I was so ready for bed by about that time). The day of the wedding setup was easy and Susan is an amazing day-of coordinator (she honestly saved the day when my florist really messed up our bouquets). Everything looked beautiful and you can really tell Sarah and Susan care about each wedding and making it perfect. I've told any bride or groom looking for a place to go here first, you cannot find a better price where you can also book any vendors you would like (most places around have a required caterer/bartender). My Wife and I got married here the evening of June 1st, 2018 We really only started planning the wedding 90 days out and jumped at the opportunity to have it at The French Estate as soon as we found out they had our ideal day open. Susan, our day-of coordinator, was so amazing and was instrumental in making sure things went smoothly. We had the ceremony in the front and reception in the back. The building provided plenty of natural shade and no one was uncomfortable. We were receiving compliments the whole time about how beautiful the space was. Friends who lived in Orange for years had no idea there was a place like this in their neighborhood, truly a hidden gem. Word to the wise: this place is ideal for those who want a small to moderate size wedding and intend on planning it themselves or hiring a coordinator. They'll provide the space, tables, chairs, bar area and a few odds and ends but other then that it's up to you to piece it together. Your event needs to be over and quite by 9:00pm and everything broken down and out by 10:00pm. Just make sure your guests know so there aren't surprises. At night with all the lights and character of this home is just stunning and honestly for the venue itself I would do it again ! And I would give this place itself 5 stars for just the venue itself ! My only complaint would be the coordinator.. the first obvious thing that disappointed me was being told I owed 1200 2 days prior to my event for her services . I met with her 3 times to go over the plans and was never disclosed I was paying anything extra. It was never disclosed or written or had I signed anything . After talking to the owner, and then she talking to Susan it got sorted out . But honestly the BIG thing was her comments .. My DJ and emcee are Hispanics and came to the rehearsal and when I introduced them she said " these gangsters " now sure this could have been funny to her but honestly no one their felt it was humerus. The wedding went on and we had mariachi , we knew it could not be too loud due to being in a resident area. However , she came to my cousin after not being able to communicate with my dad who does not speak a lot of English , to let her know that if not SHE would call the cops and let them give us a warning ... Last she kept saying " burrito " and calling guest as burritos ... and was heard by multiple people! Specially saying " burrito burrito stay in the corner " to my father ! And honestly lucky I did not hear that because I would have not tolerated that. but one of my good friends did decide to tell me until after it was over to not ruin my mood My guest (multiple ) telling me after how uncomfy they felt with those comments . idk about you but to me these comments were all so rude and disrespectful. And for most my Hispanic guest felt super racist .. MY PERFECT WEDDING!!!! I swear I could probably write a book on how amazing this property is, as well as it's staff! First of all, the property has its own history and character, its almost like another guest at your wedding! For me it felt like home, a place where many magical and special things had happened and where a lot of people started their lives. Susan and Sarah were just incredible, every single question I had they answered and kept assuring me oh anything I was anxious about. I went to the venue at least 15 times before my wedding and they were always welcoming. Day of the wedding, it was seriously perfect! The weather did deiced to be about 90 which posed a bit of a problem having all my guest completely hot and sweaty! Susan handled it without evening having to come to me! She put out water for everyone and umbrellas over everyones head. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. Not even one star is deserved here. I am highly disappointed in the service my best friend received from Sarah. This review is solely based on the in-compassion, lack of understanding and greed someone can have as a business owner. My friend was scheduled to have her wedding there in November and shortly after she put down her deposit she as diagnosed with breast cancer. Stage 3, aggressive cancer requiring aggressive chemo, radiation and double mastectomy following. Knowing all that she will be going through, she wanted to move her date to next year because we all know as a bride it is after all the most important day of your life. Fearing the chemo treatments, radiation, surgeries she will have to go through she knew she would not be well enough to proceed in November. If postponing her wedding wasn't bad enough already, Sarah was not willing to move her date without taking 20% of her deposit. Her response, business is business. Why proceed with a wedding there if the deposit will be taken away? My friend cancelled her wedding and then received an email stating she was willing to move the date after the fact that she cancelled! I would definitely not ever recommend anyone to deal with a business owner such as Sarah. Business is business but have a heart! Tragic things happen to everyone, imagine if something happened to you or anyone else considering this venue. My friend has two little girls that worry everyday if their mommy is going to have hair or if she can get out of bed or how sick she will be today, the last thing she wanted was to be sick on her wedding day from cancer and be looked at and judge on how cancer took over. She wanted to fight cancer, recover and change a date and not have to worry about feeling pretty or having hair or boobs to fill her dress. Sarah took the vision of her wedding away from her all for 20% of a deposit because BUSINESS IS BUSINESS. **As of 2018 in the US alone there has been an estimate of 266,120 invasive breast cancer diagnosed in women, 2,550 in men and an estimated 41,400 breast cancer deaths will occur** Women - get your exam early! **check your boobies** spread the word. read more
