I ordered the vegan biscuits and they were delicious. They are scratch made vegan biscuits topped with vegan country gravy, two vegan sausage patties, roasted tomatoes and collard greens. I love the feel of a neighborhood breakfast shop and this restaurant has that vibe. It is only open for breakfast and lunch. We visited on a Wednesday morning and there was plenty of seating. We reviewed the large wall-length menu board and then placed our orders at the register. The attendant was very friendly and was able to suggest a deconstructed breakfast burrito in a bowl. That was the perfect option. The restaurant was clean and welcoming, our meals were delivered to our tables in a very reasonable amount of time, and the food was well prepared and tasty. The French Press is a very popular breakfast/brunch spot. I think the line almost reached the door when I arrived. You are not able to reserve/save a table when you arrive, you can only get a table once you've ordered your food and paid. There are paper menus located at the register, but the whole side wall is an enormous menu, so hopefully, you don't get overwhelmed by the amount of people and menu size. I am a sucker for corned beef hash and will always give it a try when a restaurant states their version is home-made. The French Press' version definitely tasted like it was stewed in Guinness and was very good. The cons is that I should have ordered my eggs soft or a bit runny to provide the corned beef with some moisture because the meat was dry; the other downside was that although I was offered toast and chose an English muffin, I was only given half of the muffin. Is it standard to just get one side and not both? Anyhow, minor gaffes aside, the food here is good. The restaurant is very lively and every table was occupied. It can get very loud here, so if you want something more intimate, the French Press is not for you during peak dining times. read more

Great coffee and breakfast joint with quick turnaround times and friendly service. I thought I'd be disappointed with only one vegan item on the menu but it was good enough I'd order it every visit. The biscuits and gravy come with home fries, sautéed tomatoes and house vegan sausage patties. The biscuits are soft and the gravy is rich and peppery. This is an adorable breakfast spot in Denver! There's actually plenty of parking on the street since it's in a neighborhood, which is a nice change from a lot of other places in the city. I've been on a 30 year global search for the best Eggs Benedict. This morning the French Press took the lead from Diane's in Milwaukee, Wisconsin which has had the lead since the late 90's. A long run for an eatery now operating as a bar at last visit. While being a devout carnivore, I confess a tendency towards the various versions of veggie heavy benies. Good customer service but mid food. I've never been more disappointed with corned beef hash. Anyone who really knows how to make corned beef hash knows that it shouldn't be served shredded. It was really just thrown together which was disappointing because I was really looking forward to having it. I also had to send my first plate back to the kitchen because it was SO salty that it made my ears tingle. Again, any cook who actually knows corned beef should know that it's not to have salt added, as it's cured in salt. The kitchen needs a lesson in cooking with corned beef. The coffee was way too strong to even enjoy. The avocado toast was good but then again, how can you mess up something so simple. Went on a Saturday around noon and it wasn't terribly busy like everywhere else which was great because it meant there was seating. I ordered the cheddar chipotle biscuits and gravy and my bf ordered the steak and eggs. He said his steak was cooked perfectly (MR) and that the eggs and potatoes were delicious. Mine was incredible. I wasn't sure what to expect and this was definitely a different take on biscuits and gravy but wow was it good. We also ordered the regular black coffee which was a little bitter for my taste but improved with cream. The music wasn't too loud which I also appreciated. This was such a cute joint! I liked the look of it as soon as I walked in. The menu was huge and I loved that it was on the blackboard on the wall instead of paper menus. So you place your order at the counter and they give you a number. Then they bring out the order to you. The hubby got the BLAT and he was over the moon happy with it as it came with a lot of bacon! I hate it when you get a BLT or a BLAT and it has like 2 measly slices of bacon. -_- It was also the crispy type of bacon and the avocado was the perfect texture. I got the Egg in a hole and it was covered in gravy and it was yummy!! I did not want the house potatoes as the egg in a hole was enough carbs for a diabetic like me. What had me come to The French Press was the multiple French toast options and that they came with a meat (sausage or bacon or ham) and 2 eggs. Order at the front and if it is "for here" you'll get a number to place on the stand at your table. What I loved: coffee options included light and dark! For some reason I keep running into places in Denver that only have dark roast or medium. Groooooss. So so happy this place has light roast. It tastes pretty good, too - very smooth. I got the regular French toast and it was very good. I grew up with more egg-y French toast but no restaurant makes it like that, so when I say "very good" I mean only because "best" would be like something back home. The eggs and Turkey sausage were also great. I love paying at the start so you can leave whenever, without having to wait for a server. Good amount of seating options, too. I dropped in for coffee yesterday morning. The employee at the register was efficient but not friendly or helpful. The cappuccino tasted like gas station coffee and I threw it away as soon as I left. Had a disappointing experience recently when I returned my iced tea because it tasted a little off. When the cashier told her coworker my reason he said "That customer is off" loud enough for me to hear. I wasn't trying to insult anyone's character, just tasted like the machine hadn't been cleaned in a while and thought the business might want to know. I didn't even ask for a refund!
