Good strong black coffee. A year ago, I had the cappuccino and it was nice. Yesterday, Thursday May 16, 2024, I enjoyed a Spinach Pie, called something like Spinach Baugtista (?)--very nice. I did ask for it to be heated, and altho they said yes, it was cold, but I ate it, and it was very good even cold LOL. I enjoyed my chocolate fudge brownie with walnuts. It was rich and delicious. I actually cut it in half and enjoyed half and then later that evening had the other half what a great deal it was yummy. Today, Friday, May 17, I enjoyed a ham & cheese croissant, heated up, and it was delicious. Also had a small black hot coffee. The small size is maybe 6 ounces, but it's a strong coffee, IMHO (In my humble opinion) so that size is fine for me. I always enjoy a visit here when I visit Bayside. Nice establishment a width variety of cakes cookies and pastries. They have chairs to sit in the back. Very clean, neat, and organized. I ordered a medium cold brew ice coffee for $3.00. I asked for liquid sugar. I was told it would be on the side it wasn't. The barista was very nice he apologized and prepared for me some liquid sugar. The coffee it was not strong, tasted like regular ice coffee, and it was not sweet. I was a little disappointed. read more

The coffee is really good I do enjoy coming to the French Workshop for my drink. However, the man who was making the coffees gave attitude when I changed my order from a honey hazelnut to just hazelnut. Like I was incompetent for changing the order. He made a face and input himself into the conversation when I was talking to a different lady taking my order. It was unnecessary and rude. Would most likely not come back to this location because of the interaction. read more

It have been a while since I been here so I figure I give it another go. Wanted to order the cake in advance but they don't take orders. The counter people at every nice and service was good but not able to place an order for what you want in advance is frustrating. I had to go really early since my daughter wanted to try La Mure. Suppose to be vanilla sponge cake with mousse and ganache. All the fuss and and we were very disappointed. The mousse and ganache in the cake was almost non existent. All you taste was the vanilla sponge cake which was very dense and dry. For $45. I feel some kind of way. Guess I can skip this place for good now. read more

I love coming here for pastries and desserts whenever I am in the area. The melody cake is to die for, with its decadent layers and crunch from the hazelnut. I have tried a variety of their desserts and pastries and have yet to be disappointed. Cakes are such a steal at ~$45 per cake for their level of quality and skill. I think I might have poisoning here - meringue was not fully baked (still eggy in the middle) and the dessert was a bit frozen. They gladly replaced it but I am still worried I have a sneaking suspicion that this place might not be "fresh" I do sort of wish that I went with Martha County Bakery but if we don't try, we never know. Wow. I've heard such great things about The French Workshop but finally got a chance to experience them for myself last Sunday. As soon as I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer size of the store, which boasted plenty of indoor seating and outdoor sitting. They have quite the incredible selection of delectable treats, pastries, cakes and sandwiches. I had the almond croissant and a hot coffee, which to me, is always the nice, simple and delicious combo. The chocolate was rich and creamy and the dough was flaky and fresh. I've never been to France myself but the vibe and decor here definitely feels like I've been transported outside of New York and the states. read more

Line wasn't too long and there was quite a few free seating at Saturday afternoon. We tried: Cream bougatsa: it was alright but not necessarily something I'd get again. Confirmed that I'm not the biggest fan of this. The pastry was as crispy and the custard as sweet as I've seen this dessert be, but not crispy or sweet enough for me. Madeleine: this was surprisingly a highlight. Would get again for the sponginess and there is no fruit taste which I don't like in my Madeleines. Crunchy: 10 year anniversary so it was only $5. Full of layers and good textures. I can see the hype. Creme brulee cheesecake: as all the reviews said, no creme brulee coating but it might be referring to the cheesecake itself? Much more of a vanilla flavor rather than cream cheese. I'm more of a purist though so wouldn't get this again. Fruit tart: Another highlight - flaky tart and good vanilla custard. I've been here a few times and I love the wide variety of amazing pastries and baked goods they offer. The baked goods haven't disappointed me. We got Chocolate Eclair and it exceeded my expectation. The other pros about this place is that the open late so, if you're looking for a late night dessert around the area with a nice sit down setting, this is definitely a place to consider. The service was great as well. The only drawback was that it was very not and no AC on this day. They use to have this chocolate tart that used exceptional quality chocolate. It was chocolatey and rich. This time the chocolate tart tasted like a blob of sugar that was colored dark brown. It literally hurt my teeth when I bit into it. It tasted nothing like chocolate. It was awful. And their apricot tart tasted nothing like apricot just a syrupy mess. It seems like they're skimping out on quality ingredients these days. I'd rather pay more and have amazing food. I really hate it when businesses do this to start recouping costs. read more

I went back to The French Workshop a few days after my first visit there. I tried the breakfast burrito, chicken pesto sandwich, the chocolate pretzel, and the freddo cappuccino. The breakfast burrito was simple and tastes great. Although I liked it, I would try another breakfast item next time. The chicken pesto sandwich was delicious. The grilled chicken was in thin topped with Gruyère cheese, tomatoes, and pesto on a baguette. The chocolate pretzel was similar to a croissant texture with a little bit of flakey crust, but mostly soft pastry and it was filled with rich chocolate. The freddo cappucino was an iced cappuccino that was exactly what I've been searching for in a coffee drink. The espresso flavor is strong, which I prefer, but there's also a creamy thick foam to balance out the strong coffee flavor. SO good! I would get the pesto sandwich, chocolate pretzel, and cappuccino again. I love this place! read more

5/5 spot!! I started getting my drinks and pastries here starting a couple months ago and I recommend this spot to everyone. I can't get drinks from anywhere else. Their iced matcha latte with oat milk is incredible! As well as their iced white mocha latte with oat milk. I highly recommend trying most of their pastries. The quality of the coffee brew and the pastries are incredible! For pasties I recommend their Nutella Madeline, Nutella croissant, pumpkin spice danish (doesn't take too much like pumpkin spice) their milk chocolate cookie (warmed up) and their pistachio ganache dessert. My family has been getting pastries from here a few times and this time I finally got to go into the shop myself. I'm surprised they have so many different types of pastries, sweets and even bread and sandwiches. The staff is very attentive and seems ready to serve. The store has a nice vibe and pretty crowd with customers. I got Almond Crunch ($7.50) and Mille Feuille ($6.95) to try. Personally I like Almond Crunch more because it gives a nice texture of chocolate and almond flavor mousse. They also have rewards program that allows you to get points back on purchases. You just need to download the app. Unfortunately I think the price is too high and I can't afford to go there too often. read more

This has been my go-to place for french pastries especially when I need to bring something for a family event. They have a lot of seating options and the lines move pretty fast. I loved the raspberry tart. It had the perfect amount of sweetness and no aspect of the dessert was too overpowering. This bakery has a ton of selection and once I saw the bougatsa (greek pastry) I had to try. Not many places make it. It was so good. The cookie however was ok. I found it kind of stale. The egg sandwich was cold. They said they heated it up but not enough. They do have one bathroom that was clean and plenty of tables. I enjoyed my time here. Would come back! read more

After standing at the counter for like 10 minutes, I ended up getting a fruit tarte (3/5, crust was a little too hard); crème brûlée (4/5); a chocolate eclair (3/5); and another chocolate pastry (3/5). We're been going since they opened and have seen many new items added over the years. Some of our favorites are the Crunchy, lemon meringue tart, crème brûlée and tiramisu. They also have a wide selection of sandwiches, breads and cookies. The place is lovely inside and feels elegant. A great deal of attention has been placed in the details, down to the boxes and carry out bags. The staff are also friendly and attentive. It does get crowded, but that's to be expected. read more
