Everyone in Bayside is in this store. Despite the quiet streets, this little bakery was jam packed and busy, with a line wrapping along the display cases. Their Creme Brulee Cheesecake ($6.95) was answered by the worker as the most popular item. I am surprised by this news, because it wasn't anything special at all. The name is a bit of false advertising as I did not taste any custard in this. Instead, it was a fruity raspberry top. I wish I got the non-cheesecake version. And very unfortunately, I picked the La Mure ($6.95), which was another raspberry theme. If Barbie was a dessert, it would be this. It was very sweet, in an artificial tasting way. And it left a weird aftertaste. At least eating with the fruits helped in masking that. It was my first time trying an Iced Pumpkin Spiced Latte ($5) w/ Oat Milk (+$0.95). They only offered the Medium size. The drink took forever to prepare, due to how crowded the drinks area is as well, but the latte itself was not bad. The oat milk creaminess and ice aids the otherwise stronger flavor of the spice, if you're not as big a fan of that aspect. I can see why this is the annual fall drink! I'm curious what everyone's go-to patisserie is for the store to be so popular, because I think I missed it. I'd pass on coming again, but they do offer a variety of options, from savory to sweet. read more

Why haven't anyone talked about the Praline Crunch? It's so delicious! Not too sweet, loved the cake part that kind of tasted like a brownie. The mouse was light and not too sweet. I loved the crunch. It was just perfect! I forgot how much it cost since I purchased two cakes. The other cake being the Crunchy and also a whole cake. It was either $48 or $45. It's been awhile since I had the Crunchy but I would prefer the Praline Crunch. If you love chocolate get this cake! I went in on New Years Eve. It was quite hectic and overwhelming trying to decide on a cake. But the process was very fast. They also ask if you want any writings on the cake. read more

Starting with location: this store is in such a good spot as it's right after the hustle and bustle of the main section of Bell Boulevard; parking wasn't an issue since we parked far but it seemed like parking was reasonable The store is absolutely amazing from inside and out! It is so clean and has such a nice aesthetic. The seating arrangement didn't feel crowded, even on a Friday night and there was the option for outdoor seating. They have plenty of options for food, desserts, and drinks. I got the tiramisu and it was so tasty. I definitely think that compared to other nearby bakeries, I'd much rather sit in this store. Personally I'm not a huge fan of sit down desserts (where you're served) so I loved this setting. The tiramisu was about $8 which, again, for the area was worth it. If you're in the area, definitely stop by. Godwillingly, I'll be back for sure! read more

My friend and I came here post dinner to find something light and sweet to satiate our sweet tooth. My first impression upon entering was how aesthetically pleasing and clean this dessert shop was. The desserts are beautifully & professionally laid out under the glass, with workers behind the booths in black uniform. it seemed like an organized place. Also an ideal place to lounge around, work on my laptop, or have a coffee date. I got the creme brulee cheesecake, which I would rate 4/5, very soft and smooth, but I couldn't bear the berry seeds that were in the topping. The hot chocolate was also a 4/5, a little thinner than I would have liked but perfect amount of sweet, "not too sweet" as I would say. Almost as good as in France! The crem brûlée was a huge hit with my daughter. Coffee was strong and flavorful. Dark chocolate chip cookie, rich and sumptuous. The chicken pesto sandwich was hearty. Served on crusty French bread. Solid piece of lean chicken. Satisfying and pesto with seasoning was tasty. Pricey. But definitely not an average run of the mill bakery. A treat on vacation, the way I look at it. If I lived in the area, I'd go there on occasion, not often. The smoked salmon sandwich, however had minuscule, next to nothing, pieces of salmon. It was more like a cucumber, tomato, a mayonnaise based spread on crusty French bread sandwich. Not terrible but truly not enough salmon to be legitimately called a "smoked salmon sandwich." Overall, a very nice upscale French bakery with a nice vibe. You are served on a "silver" tray - classy touch. Outdoor seating available. We enjoyed our table under the shade of a tree. I am a bit late to chime in on this place that my fellow Yelp Elites have been raving on and on about for years now. The French Workshop is FANCY. The whole establishment--everything from its decor, pricing, and ambiance--is a bit out of place in a strip that's chock-full of boba shops, dive bars, and hole-in-the-wall salons and fast food joints. It's just so peculiar to me that such a place has been thriving among a mixed bag of different demographics that the other businesses are catering to. Then again, this is NYC. I've been here about 3 times now and I've got to say...I would find being at Martha's much more enjoyable for myself. I am obsessed with pastries and TFW is nice, but I wouldn't say that there are any pastries that truly excite me and have me wanting to get again--not the way Martha's layered red velvet cheesecake does to me. I've had their creme brulee cheesecake and was surprised to find that there wasn't the "crackly" texture as I would've expected but rather a just a raspberry jam layer. Their butter cookies are just okay, but don't blow me away the way that my childhood Italian butter cookies do. I do like their mille-feuille and have bought this for my mom in the last two times that I've been here and it is really flaky and has a good balance of the cream, but I'm not crazy about paying the $7 price tag for a few bites. Definitely a lovely place with a great ambiance to get coffee and a pastry but I prefer my no-frills Italian bakery...and Martha's, of course :) read more

I've tried a few different things from here, definitely for those who have a sweet tooth! My favorite thing here is definitely the raspberry cheese cake. I've had this multiple times for friend's birthdays. The fruit tart is also good! Two things I'll continue to get here Forgot what it was called, but I got a pistachio slice which I didn't love. The French Workshop is an upscale bakery on the corner of Bell Blvd and 39th Ave. The inside is very well done: fancy, sleek and all their desserts have a sincere artisan appeal. There is also ample outdoor seating. It's almost always busy (even in the evening) but if there is a line, it moves really quickly. I come here every week or two for at least a french baguette. There are so many delicious treats to try and I've never really been disappointed. They have the usual cookies/breads, as well as extravagant things like tarts and pastries, and sandwiches. Also a great bakery to pick something up before going to someone's house because everything is presented and packaged so nicely. read more

I usually don't have any issues with what I order from French Workshop however, today was a different story. I asked for an iced caramel macchiato with oat milk, so when I saw the barista making my drink with regular milk I spoke up and reminded her it was supposed to be made with oat milk. The barista seemed very annoyed and starting remaking the drink with oat milk but there wasn't enough in the carton, so instead of opening a new carton of oat milk and filling up the cup, she just angrily shoved it towards me. I decided it wasn't worth speaking up again and left with what she gave me. The only thing that redeemed this poor service was the amazing almond cake. read more

I been hanging out by Bell Blvd for this long and I have never realized that this amazing place exists. I came here once and I discovered the great variety of pastries that this place offered. I was in heaven. I believe this place is even better than its competitor couple of blocks down named Martha's I hung out in here and I got super motivated with my coffee injection. The crowd was very lively and great. But the place can get quite crowded from time as this place is popular. It may become quite hard to get some seats. Can I just say that the Iced Nutella Latte is simply de-li-cious?! I always have to order that drink every time I visit. It doesn't matter if it's freezing outside! They have cakes, tarts, sandwiches, pies, bread, and so much more. I'm sure there is something for everyone here that they will enjoy. I've already brought a bunch of friends and my family here. I do have to say that their tarts are on the harder side so it makes it difficult to eat. I love ordering the carrot cake! I've also been able to try the Creme Brulee, Tiramisu, Opera Cake, and the other goodies they offer here. The line moves pretty quickly because there are multiple staff taking care of everyone. I came her after dinner and it was delicious. I purchased a Madeline, Oreo cheesecake and two mini cookies. The place is beautiful inside and great lighting. The mini cookies were ok; a bit hard for my taste. I ate the Madeline the next day and it was soft and buttery. It was not the best Madeline; I had but it was good. The star of the show was the Oreo cheesecake. It was so delicious and fresh. I regret only getting one slice of cake. The place has a lot of lighting and I look forward to returning. read more

I come here often, and every time I have a pleasant experience. The atmosphere is really nice, and especially during the holiday season, it is nicely decorated and always clean. Whether sitting outside or inside, the atmosphere is nice. The drinks are delicious, I never had a drink there that was bad, and the pastries are delectable. My personal favorite is the cinnamon roll. The staff is super nice, and the drinks come out quickly. Definitely one of my favorite spots, would definitely recommend. read more

One not happy with an xtra box request. Its also noisy so its hard to hear. The prices reflect the changing neighborhood. One big no no- the packaging of items. Way too much of it. They could tone it down and use greener packaging, and paper bags for items and not boxes. Alot of waste. While they were setting up for the opening (the day before) they were making sandwiches-hmmm not freshnot made the same day. So far thats the thats the only big complaint. Had the chance of coming here tonight. Had the oreo, birthday cake, and salted caramel macaroons along with the chocolate noir cake. The young lady couldn't describe some of the flavors such as the rose macaroon so i opted for flavors i was familiar with. The macaroons barely tasted like the descriptions of them. We arrived around 9 pm on a Saturday night. We bought Duke, pistachio layered dessert (similar to a napoleon), an Oreo cheesecake. Items were drag and delicious. I ordered a chai latte. The chai latte tasted like egg nog... so much so that we were sure they gave me the wrong drink. I went back to the counter to inquire if I was given the wrong drink.
