Another amazing lunch at the kitchen! I got Timmy turkey panini special and nice spring cocktail.

Kinda disappointed... This place had all the makings of being a really cool homegrown restaurant. I love to support the small restaurants and avoid chains. The interior screams upscale dinner and is really cool. The service was slow, cold, and lacked the attention you would expect. The food experience was not great, although it was all plated very nicely. I had the meatball sub and coleslaw, which was OK - the coleslaw is definitely not going to win any prizes. Wifie has a blue cheese burger on greens, which was also OK but not memorable. Babygirl had the Italian sub, which was bland and dry. I was a little surprised that they charge you for refills on unsweetened iced tea especially when it comes in a small mason jar. All in all, there are a lot of other restaurants in Portsmouth with better attention to detall.

Our first visit here and I'm sure we will get back. This is a small spot that serves a casual menu, and looks like they also have full bar service (will have to come back and try that). The Spudsters for a started are a real treat. Not quite tater tots, but mashed potato in a crispy coating and deep fried. They offer several seasonings (I tried garlic parmesan) and several dipping sauces. I chose truffle ketchup. Really great combo! What we really liked about The Kitchen was that they offered half sandwiches. We find that most sandwiches are just too big for lunch, and who wants to take home a sandwich with soggy bread? A half sandwich is just perfect, less wasteful and more economical. I tried the curry turkey sandwich which I thought was quite tasty. We will be back to work a little deeper into this menu

The Spiced Sweet Potato Veggie Burger was not very hot but it was tasty. And stacked sky high! I think the sweet potato has not been heated up. The cole slaw was excellent. Hope people support them during the road construction.

Food was very good. Lots of interesting items included in the menu as well as some classics. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice place that can accommodate a date or a crowd.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We stopped at The Kitchen for a early dinner, 5:00pm. There were a few parking spots right in front of the restaurant and we got one. The waiter treated us immediately and we took a seat at the long high top table between the bar and the tables. We started with the fried brussels which were so good. The honey Dijon dipping sauce was a nice compliment of tastes. I had the spicy pineapple cocktail which was sooooo very good. To eat I got the "Going Back to Cali" which was a turkey burger with asparagus and avocado. It was really good. I think they used a premade turkey burger patty - wish they made their own patty. It was tasty. My husband got the Apu Nahasapeemapetilon which was absolutely delicious! I had food envy. Definitely recommend this place. I will be back. They have a great outdoor area to eat too. I wonder if you can bring your dog?

The meal was very expensive for what it was--served on very thin bread that wasn't properly browned or crispy. Plus, having to pay extra just for tomatoes felt like a nickel-and-dime move. While the menu choices look tempting, after my experience, I wouldn't waste money trying other high-end items like the lobster grilled cheese. The space inside is extremely tight, and the tables are squished so close together you feel crammed in. The restaurant was also kinda dirty, with crumbs scattered across the tables and floor. I actually had to clean off my own table before sitting down. The one bright spot was the service--the staff was good, friendly, and welcoming. Great staff, but between the lackluster, overpriced food and the dirty, cramped space, I left feeling honestly disappointed. Save your money and make your own at home.

I happened to be talking to my Mom before heading into town about this place & had wondered if it was still in business, she told me it was. Yippie! She also asked me to get her a popover. My friend's & I stopped in here so I could grab my Mom a popover. Since it was MSD it was busy & there was a small line but it moved quickly. I ordered a plan Popover for my Mom that came with a maple butter that Sand (took my order @ the register) told me that it was really good. My Mom enjoyed it. It was a good size & looked yummy! I also picked up a sugar cookie for myself that I carried around all day & due to the heat the frosting melted and my cookie got smushed but it was still pretty tasty. It was sweet but not too sweet. I'd love to go back for another one & eat it before I ruin it! LOL I also got a funfeti cupcake & found it to be very small & kinda dry. The frosting wasn't very sweet. I wouldn't get another cupcake as it's not worth the price ($3.46) or the taste. I used one of the unisex bathroom's while I was here which wasn't too bad for a busy MSD, but they had signs on the door that "bathrooms are for customers only" but I doubt they had any way to control the bathroom traffic. I still have $$$ left on my GC & will definitely be back to try something else & maybe even a popover! :-)

I found them on Yelp, and highly rated, so that was enough for me !! Not a huge menu, but we easily found what we wanted. The burgers were on the slightly smallish side (compared to others I've had), but they were delicious, and with the accompanying fries for me and onion rings for him, we certainly didn't walk away hungry. The "classic" burgers that we ordered were well represented with the ingredients we like (beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle with some "hush" sauce - essentially thousand island dressing). We loved every bite !! We'd return here in a heartbeat, so if ever we're up in that area, we'll be getting those burgers again. Yummm.
