FLIP NIGHTS WIN = FREE DRINKS! But its crowded and everyone is drunk, so everyone is bumping into each other and it's rude of them not to excuse themselves. Such dumbness. The full bar is pretty cool, nice drinks. We got there major early, so we had the couch to ourselves. There are some tables and corners to sit by, but it's generally a standing bar. There are stairs so beware if you're wearing high heels like us. The bathrooms get crowded fast, and there are people fighting frig-git for it. I did not want to stay there late, so we left. Located right next door to Roosevelt, this place won my business on a Friday night around 10. The Front Porch was more happening, but the ambiances are similar. This place had good music and bar service. No room to dance really, so head to the club if that's what your goal is. This is just a chill bar with no cover. I'm also a fan of the open window concept to help manage the temperature in the event it gets too hot and crowded. read more

I met up some coworkers here last Saturday. It is in Larimer Square, which is young, cool, hip area. On Wednesdays they have Flip Night and all the other nights they have name days where they pick 3 common names and if your name is 1 of those, you get free well drinks for the whole night. I know some people complain about well drinks, but it is free after all! We had a lot of fun getting drinks here, it was a nice lounge with a really good atmosphere. The bartenders were really responsive and were always ready to pour a drink even though it was busy. It gets really crowded here though, sometimes it may get a little annoying, because you are constantly getting bumped. I really liked my Moscow Mule, but my Old Fashion was poured with crushed ice and not an ice cube. Not trying to be an Old Fashion snob, but the ice melts way too fast if it is not an ice cube. A very misleading experience... While the venue itself is a beautiful little bar off of the main strip of 16th street, the bartenders seem very distracted and aren't aware of the correct policies. I went on the night for Tyler's to drink free, and my name is Ty, and they wouldn't take my name. The website talks about how even abbreviations were exceptable, and it sucked to have to pay for a $9 drink when I thought it would be $0. I even tried to explain that the website said it should be accepted, and it was so loud that the woman didn't bother listening. Very unfortunate experience. My girlfriend also ordered a drink which was then made completely wrong, with the wrong type of alcohol. A very regrettable experience. read more

This place used to be decent, but I'm not sure anymore. They constantly put the same names AND multiple times in the month. Steve and Steven can both be the same and it's on the calendar THREE times this month. Samantha is on twice, Ryan is twice IN THE SAME WEEK. I'm starting to think it has nothing to do with the board in the bar, rather, they play favorites and put up their friends' names. I asked a bartender kindly, if possible, to have my friend's name put up on her birthday in February. Think it ever made it? Her name isn't even uncommon, but apparently "Orrapan" is much more common (I've seen it multiple times now). Also, their happy hour prices went up, making them not so happy and pretty much what a beer or drink should cost. Over $9 for a 5oz drink is just plain disrespectful. Congrats Front Porch! Besides name day (which isn't even that great considering you only give out wells and beer bottles) you've become like every other overly priced bar downtown! read more

Fun decor, good music, "meh" drink options. Date of Visit: 8/1/15 Front Porch has to be one of the cooler-looking bars I've been to, I'll give it that. Dressed up in wood, leather, and wrought iron, it feels more like a ski lodge than a drinkery, which is a nice change from the tried-and-true look of many bars in downtown Denver. While their drink list isn't very impressive from a beer or cocktail standpoint, they always seem to deliver a fun crowd with great music. I also have to jokingly give a demerit for lack of inclusion in their "Name Night" promo, wherein each night, select names get to drink for free. Show the Colters some love already! read more

We got there and had nice strong drinks made for ourselves and hung out in a front window seat till enough friends arrived to snag 1/2 of the long table. Everyone enjoyed them selves. The waiters & bartenders were great and on top of our orders. This bar was very lively and great spot for Friday night. No cover. The bartenders were quick and helpful. The music was great throwbacks for ages 25-35. We were lured in to Front Porch when "Dana" was one of the names of the day, so she got to drink free all night! Zane was taking care of us, and we enjoyed a few rounds of cocktails (which I happily paid for my half of each round). The vibe is dark and rustic - there was no loud music or DJ or anything, probably because it was midweek and we were just on vacation, but the relaxing atmosphere was perfect for us after a day of sightseeing. read more

Nothing like showing up to a bar at 12:30 in the morning after a wedding. This place had a good front with windows that opened and you descend stairs into the pit with the bar and a lot of tables. They also had a couch with some chairs. A good atmosphere but the crowd was interesting. Just a lot of drunk frat types and not much else. Maybe if I go back and get a better feel for the atmosphere, I would give a better rating. But for now it was alright. read more

The Front Porch is particularly retrospective for me, because as the name suggests, the bar is themed. Inside, you'll find wooden logs, Edison bulbs hanging from 'trees', photos of homes with large yards, and a particularly reminiscent photo of sailboats out in a bay. Some were calling it modern mountain; I thought it was more of a southern-esque vibe. Either way, all of this adds up to a very relaxed feel, that would likely call me back - even without their special drink nights. We went in on a Wednesday, which happens to be flip night. On this night, after 7:30 pm, you are able to flip a coin for a particular purchase from the bar. If you called correctly, you get that round for free. If not, you pay. Well there were four of us, and we liked those odds, so we all flipped on rounds. Two of us lost, and two of us won. I can see how this is lucrative for the bar, as I imagine several high rollers come in every week and lackadaisically flip a coin on a $250 round. Nevertheless, it added greatly to the spirit of the bar. Furthermore, they have a calendar, in which they imprint 3-4 names for every night of the month, with the exception of Wednesdays. If your name is on the calendar for a particular night, then you drink for free that night. That's right. Actually, it's more like you get to drink bottles and wells all night, but still - no complaints here. The only real complaint I have was with how much ice was in my drink. I'm pretty sure I finished it in 4 solid sips. read more

Front porch is one of my favorite places to grab a cocktail. I only come downtown about once a month and come up from lone tree to terminal bar and front porch specifically. Last night my girlfriend and I came in for my name night. Ordered mules as we always do and I was told name night did not include Mules. I mentioned to the bartender eden that was funny because my girl and multiple other friends have always recieved mules on name night- but ok. She proceeded to give me a smug look and said " she must have got lucky" Now not 5 minutes later a man named Jason- who also was on name night last night- walked up to my girlfriend and I and offered us 2 mules. We were all taling and he stated he got all 3- at one time- free for his name night. Honestly it was just disappointing being treated differently. Why? Cause we are women and I ordered from a women? Honestly- I couldn't tell you. But either way - it wasn't right and her attitude sucked. Usually I love the bartenders here. I was drawn into this place because of the name board outside because I thought my husband's name was on the board, but I confused Alexandria for Alexander (lol). But this bar was so cool, and we're glad we went inside! They played a good mix of early-ish 2000s and modern day hip hop, which we loved, and even though it was pretty packed, the layout didn't make it seem that way! We both got Moscow mules, and they were perfect! The bartender kept our IDs until we returned the mugs, which is to be expected. The atmosphere in The Front Porch was welcoming, and good vibes were all around. My only complaint is that I checked their website to see what names (for free drinks) are coming up, and Madison is nowhere to be found. ‍ I'd still 100% recommend this place to anyone! Well, my name was up at the Porch the other night, so I, like any good broke college student, went to go drink the kind of booze I can never afford. I ordered a Grey Goose and Red Bull, and was told, flatly, by the bartender that if I wanted another, it would be ten bucks, as top shelf liquor was ineligible now. WELL ISN'T THAT THE POINT?! My friends convinced me that the white things around the candles in the vases were Mentos. Yeah, I tried one. They are not Mentos people. They are rocks. HARD WHITE ROCKS. Just an FYI. There's really nothing special about this place. I came in with a group because my brother and his girlfriend both had their names on the "drink free" calendar, so we decided to check it out. First of all, it's a tiny space. That means on a Saturday night it's a total circus and you're really fighting your way to the bar. Second of all, no taps. Really?! A beer in downtown with no taps? Only bottled beers. Big points off for me personally. Third, it attracts a weird crowd. A lot of bros, but also a lot of women in skimpy dresses and absurd high heels. I was in jeans and a t shirt and felt very oddly under-dressed. I will admit I kind of like the "wood" aesthetic and the bartenders were really nice. Overall, though, it was a pretty "meh" experience. It's sad when employees can ruin an entire establishment but the last 2 times I've been here, everything has been great until I have to interact with employees. The place closes at 2. An employee tried to rudely kick us out 8 minutes prior. Yes, this isn't a lot but we were also finishing our drinks and were on our way out. My friend said, we have 8 minutes (not the best thing she could have said, I admit) but we were not drunk and the employee got beyond rude. I came here for a "free drink night" and it wasn't half bad but didn't blow my mind either! They essentially offer free beers (no draft, sorry guys-- but it included some craft brews like New Belgium, ect..) and wells. Where they get you is with the overpriced drinks that your friends are forced to buy when they're there with you. I liked the decor and we went earlier (around 7) so it wasn't busy at all. They only problem is that it was hard getting my drinks while sitting at the bar because the bar tenders were just hanging out on the side and chatting/playing on their phones. I happened into The Front Porch last Sunday eve. By buddy and I were headed to another spot just down the street but saw the sign out front with his name on it. In a brilliant marketing ploy- Front Porch randomly chooses three names who get FREE DRINKS all night and posts them on a small A-Frame folding chalkboard sign on the sidewalk. Well...it worked. Not overly crowded on a Sunday- maybe a few dozen folks all gathered around the flat wall style bar. The walls feature a beautifully finished wooden interior. Drinks- well.. affordable for me- FREE for my buddy. Service was good- how could you bitch about slow service for free drinks?? Would I return-- maybe. Stay classy Front Porch. By the crew ever-present outside the door getting their nicotine fix, I figured I would be walking in to a typical dive bar. Candles everywhere, a large communal table, and tree trunks jutting out of one wall let you get your Charlie Sheen on while still feeling more like George Clooney. Wednesday night is flip night. Order your drinks. The bartender spins a quarter. You call heads or tails, and the bartender slaps the quarter down on the bar. Get it right and you walk away in blissful victory with whatever you ordered. Get it wrong and pay the reasonable price for your drinks. Please, please, please do not forget to tip the bartender. I saw a lot of rude and inconsiderate people just walk away from the bar with their winnings. It's fun to watch everyone grow more bold as the night goes on. At the beginning of the night I won two PBRs and we ended the night when my buddy lost buying a round of Patron for the five of us.
