I've had Navajo fry bread from several employees that worked for me in the past. From a few different families. The food was excellent, I had the Philly with side beans. My only concern was the frybread was a little undercooked in flavor, color and in comparison to what I've had in the past. My wife had the traditional frybread taco and said it was great. Not sure why the cashier/lobby person is constantly wearing headphones while working. They took them off when speaking to customers, however can't hear anyone if they're not directly in front of for customers to ask for something. We'll definitely go back. read more

Tried a couple- ground beef, bean and cheese but the green chili beef was the clear winner in my opinion! Shredded type beef in green sauce- almost puts you in the mind of chicken or pork chili verde in flavor but yummier! Disappointing Return to a Phoenix Classic I was born and raised in Phoenix and have been coming to The Fry Bread House since the old days. It used to be the place for a sopapilla or a good fry bread taco. I stopped by recently and ordered the Ultimate Taco with a small soda -- nearly $19! I was shocked. Worse, the taco was huge but completely mushy. The filling soaked through the fry bread, turning it into a soggy mess. My friend and I both ordered the ultimate taco (mine with green chili beef and his with red chili beef). Such a busy spot when we came for a late afternoon lunch! There was a line of people waiting to order when we arrived. It's a super casual place where you order at the counter and find a seat inside or outside while they call out your name and bring your meal to you. I got the ground beef fry bread taco. By far the BEST place to eat in Phoenix!! I was in Phoenix for the weekend and really wanted to try Native American cuisine. I also heard Guy Fieri came here on his show Diners, Drive Ins, and Dines so we had to try. I ordered the fry bread taco with red chili beef (not spicy at all imo) and the sweet fry bread dessert with powdered sugar and honey. The taco was HUGE. If you've never had fry bread, you'll never forget the moment you try it. It is fluffy, soft, and doughy. While I couldn't finish all of the taco's contents, I made sure to eat all of the bread. Big enough to share with a friend, but fun to try to eat alone too. As far as the sweet fry bread goes, it was much different! Crispy, crunchy, and so sweet like a funnel cake but better. As far as the restaurant, there is ample indoor and outdoor seating. Bathrooms on site. The prices are affordable and they take both cash and card. They also sell merch! Be sure to call ahead if you're coming on a holiday - we tried to go for dinner on Halloween but they were closed for trick or treating. But we made the trek back. Easy to get to with public transit from downtown Phoenix - take the train and then walk about 10 mins. Cheaper than an Uber if you're visiting from out of town! Such good food! The Fry Bread House is one local gem not to pass up. Their fry bread options are delicious, whether you want savory or sweet. I've had mine with green chili beef and beans and recently tried the taco salad and posole. This posole, let me tell you, is some of the BEST posole I've had in my life! The flavors were all there and I only wish the bowl was a bit bigger because it's hard to not eat it all at once! The taco salad was delicious but I kind of wish they offered more meat options and not just ground beef. They might but I don't ask. Me and my boyfriend came here for lunch the other day. We were craving fry bread for a while and found this spot on social media. Getting there isn't too bad. They have a small parking lot that could get full easy when they are busy, however, it wasn't packed when we went. The building itself is also smaller and had about 8 or so tables to sit at. The staff were friendly and took our order. We then seated ourselves and found a spot right away. There is also outside seating if you prefer that. My daughter got a kids meal bean and cheese fry bread. It was still pretty big for a kids meal. She really enjoyed it and ate it all. My boyfriend got the giant burrito with green chile meat. It was pretty big and stuffed really well. The meat was very flavorful and not too spicy. I got a taco salad which I wasn't a big fan of. The taco shell itself was chewy and had a weird texture to it. So I just ate the inside of my bowl. Lastly, me and my boyfriend shared a fry bread. They make them pretty big and serve them to you like a taco shape. The frybread itself was so good and soft. Overall, I would definitely return here. First time in Arizona and I did some research on food that's unique to Arizona culture. I have never heard of fry bread but throughout my road trip in this state, I saw tons of stalls on the side of the road that were selling fry bread. I was mentally hyped to have this dish! Ordering was simple as you order when you walk in, find a table and seat yourself. The staff will bring the food to you when it's ready. Red chili beef ultimate taco 8/10 - Delicious. Spicy. Filling. Powdered sugar fry bread 10/10 - We decided to try a sweet and savory fry bread as this was our last day in Arizona and we wanted to try it all. The powdered sugar was not overpowering and it kinda tasted like a funnel cake but healthier. Green chili beef stew 6/10 - I wish I had the stomach to order regular fry bread to dip into this stew but it was nonetheless still amazing. The green chili was a lot spicier. im not sure what to expect since I've never had fry bread before. What I had, I was disappointed since I drove from Goodyear to here after reading great reviews. I ordered the beef tacos with hatch chili on the side and fry bread dessert. The fry bread was soggy and oily. the taco meat itself was a bit bland. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. It tasted a little better with the side of salsa or sauce provided. The hatch chili was the best part of the taco. It would probably taste better if the fry bread was crunchy and not soggy. The dessert which was powdered sugar and honey had a good taste but because it was soggy, I would say it was Ok. If this is how it's supposed to taste, I would say fry bread is not my thing. I'll take it home and heat it in the oven to see if the taste improves. Oh they only accepted cash today because their bank machine was down. Nice people and good service. We dropped by late afternoon to order the beef taco (beef, cheese, lettuce) , the combo taco (beef, refried beans, cheese, lettuce) and the honey fry bread. We had a seat outside in the sun, they bought the fry bread to us when it was ready. Wow, definitely blown away. We have tried fry bread from a Navajo hotel years ago and a few times from various reservations. They're all delicious and authentic! What I love about this spot is the fluffiness of the bread, stuffed to the core with toppings. When you eat it fresh..it's the best feeling in the world. Went here Saturday for dinner after unveiling this restaurant from a scratch off Arizona activity game. I was really glad to visit this place as I would have never known about it otherwise. This restaurant has a small parking lot attached, as well as a patio to eat outside. The inside is small but does have a few tables to eat from as well. The menu is hung on the wall and has limited options but but enough to have to think about your decision. It seems that with the small menu, they're able to do what they do very well. The fry bread was so soft and perfect!! I could eat it every day. I do wish it came with more sauce, though as the small cups they give you is really not enough to cover how large those tacos are.
