    The Native Taco!
    Ramon F.

I hadn't stopped at The Fry Bread House in a very long time. I have been a customer of theirs for years. I even remember the other two locations before the current location. The menu evidently has changed as I was looking forward to a chorizo and beans which they no longer have on their menu. So I went with the Native Taco which still made my tummy feel good. As Summer comes I am pretty sure that most of the orders will be takeout. The place is kept clean but can't accommodate a large crowd. Their service is still impeccable and they do it with a smile. I still miss the chorizo with beans, but customers are important what can I say.

Closed on holidays, even though you can place DoorDash orders

I was really excited to try the food here for the first time, but unfortunately I wasn't able to and don't think I'll be back based on my experience. The restaurant was closed for Memorial Day, but their DoorDash was left on, so I didn't know they were closed when I placed and paid for a pickup order. I was surprised to get to the restaurant and see a closed sign when so many other restaurants were open that day. Because DoorDash automatically marks these orders as 'completed,' it turned into a multi-day hassle to get a refund, and I ultimately had to dispute the charge to get my money back. I left my name and number for a Fry Bread House manager to call but they never did. Just a friendly heads-up to management to please turn off the apps on holidays so future customers don't have to fight for refunds (I wasn't the only confused person pulling up to their parking lot), and a note to diners to not order on any holidays.

So good we had to come back again before we flew back home. This time we got Birria Taco, ultimate taco with Birria meat, red beef tamale, pazole & Honey & powdered sugar dessert fry bread. The staff is so friendly and attentive. We wish we could take this place back with us! We will be back on our next adventure to this area! They also have native american vendors selling jewelry and other items out front.

It was my turn to pick a place to eat. I told the girls, "Let's go. You are in for a treat". I did not know that they had never had fry bread. I could not let them go back east without trying some traditional Native food. They were so excited. I told them I like eating fry bread with honey and jalapenos. Nice little place with indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit outside as it was not too hot. Two of us ordered the traditional Native taco with ground beef. The other ordered a fry bread taco salad. We all ordered a sweet fry bread as well. I think we all got the honey fry bread. I asked for jalapenos, but they did not have picked jalapenos. One of us found a hair in the taco and was worried about taking it back. I told her not to worry, our people will not do anything to your food if you take it back. So, she took it back, and they made her another one. These tacos were so big! I could only eat half (after I had eaten 3 slices of sweet fry bread. . . lol. . .). I ate the other half the next day for lunch, and it was just as good. I will definitely be back.

Amazing! Great value for the amount of food! Everything had amazing flavor! Easy order and sit down and the team brought out the food. Space is small but outdoor seating helps! Fast casual space for food. Green chili tamale 100/10 My only feedback is for myself that next time I should get a sweet Frybread! Will be back!

Fry Bread House in Phoenix, Arizona, offers a delightful and unique dining experience with its delicious and innovative Native American cuisine. My manager, who highly recommended this place, was thrilled to introduce it to me. It's a popular spot among locals and even featured on Guy Fieri's TV show, "Diner's, Drive-Ins and Dives." The restaurant attracts a steady stream of customers eager to savor its fun and creative Native American dishes. Frye Bread holds a special place in culinary history as the first Native American restaurant in the United States to receive the prestigious James Beard Foundation's "America's Classics" award in 2012. Their signature Fry Bread is incredibly chewy and flavorful. During my visit, I joined my coworkers, manager, and a few friends for lunch. One of the unique features of Frye Bread is its outdoor mini farmers market, where native American vendors sell jewelry, cultural gifts, and all things Native American. It was a great opportunity to immerse myself in the local culture and experience one of the restaurant's beloved dishes. While Frye Bread offers a variety of savory protein options to accompany their Fry Bread, I personally preferred mine simply drizzled with butter and powdered sugar. The combination of flavors was simply irresistible. Frye Bread is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an authentic and flavorful Native American dining experience. The restaurant's commitment to preserving and showcasing Native American culture, combined with its delectable Fry Bread and batter, makes it a memorable dining experience.

I stopped by yesterday with my mom to get some fry bread, we have been coming to this location for such a LONG time! They never disappoint. They are always busy as well. Inside is not so spacious as a heads up and you may need to just get the food togo unless you go early! The service is good and quick! The staff were friendly. They have some many different options to choose from, they have savory fry-bread and sweet! I got the ultimate taco which is my favorite go too! My mom got the same. We loved it. Always comes out delicious! Then for sweets I tried their chocolate and butter one for the first time and wow! So yummy!! The chocolate is so good!!! If you have not been here before I highly recommend it!! Guy Fieri has also been here and loved it! They also sell merchandise now! I saw they had shirts, hoodies, hats, and beanies. Very cool!

Outside seating in the shade with our pup under the table. One native and one red chile beef taco for lunch. Only had to drive 750 miles for lunch. Totally worth it! Fry bread was warm and soft with mild red chile beef plus lettuce and tomato. Seriously one of the best taste sensations on this giant blue ball we live on. Don't get to Phoenix too often but Fry Bread House is and always will be a must visit. If it wasn't so solar flare hot here we might visit more often. Order online or at the counter, dine inside or out. Inside is a mosh pit of servers, dine in and take away folks, dashers, bicycles (really go see for yourself) and wall art. T-shirts too. Got one this visit. Show your colors old man, yeah. Small parking lot and street parking. Shady seating for you and your pup. Enjoy!

We liked the green chili ultimate taco. The fry bread was really good warm and chewy. Never had anything like it before. It's a huge portion so I would just order 1 taco per adult person. You order at the counter and they bring food to your table. Service is very friendly. Indoor seating is limited but they have outdoor seating. Overall a good place to swing by for lunch or visiting Arizona.

This was a bucket list item I got to check off. I brought my daughter to Phoenix to see Madison Beer, I told her my only requirement was to eat at Fry Bread House on Saturday. We arrived to town a little early and waited in the truck for them to open. Close to opening time, there was already a line to get in. Luckily we were one of the first people in and we got to have a table inside. I ordered the Ultimate Taco with red Chile beef. Wow, incredible. It definitely lived up to the hype. So good. If I lived in Phoenix, I would eat here all the time. My daughter for a cinnamon and sugar fry bread with butter and she enjoyed hers as well. We ate quickly and as we were leaving there were others calling dibs on our table and we noticed the line was very long by that time. I read a tip somewhere that said to come at opening to beat the rush and they were right. I look forward to my next trip to Phoenix solely for this meal again. Regrets- I didn't inquire if they had menudo, which the website says they have on Fridays and Saturdays only. Service was good and the food came out very fast too.

This was our first visit to The Fry Bread House. It was small inside, but we immediately found a seat after ordering. The person who took our order was distracted and provided poor customer service. We had to each repeat our orders, no eye contact, etc. We both ordered the Ultimate Taco, my wife chose Birria beef and I chose Green Chili beef. We ordered the Vegetable Beef soup to share. The food was delivered promptly. The food needed salt, but was otherwise delicious. The side red and green salsas provided were flavorful and provided the right amount of heat. Despite the poor ordering process we enjoyed our visit (based on the food alone). We will likely return.

    Yes. 2 picnic tables

Will The Fry Bread House reopen and if yes any dates?

    It's open now.

Is indoor dining an option as of July 2021? Tried calling but the number seems not in operation?

    Do you have indoor dining?

Yes they have seating indoors and outdoors

Are the beans (refried) cooked in lard too? Sounds like nothing vegetarian :-( or made more healthy? Thanks Sandra! Will come to try with friends!

Our Beans are vegetarian. Our Fry Bread is vegetarian. Fry Bread is unhealthy if you eat it…

    Any vegetarian entrees?

I’m sorry, but I don’t know why folks say that our Frybread is cooked in lard. It is not. Our Fry Bread and our beans are vegetarian.

Hmmm...the service was pretty good since the restaurant wasn't too busy and we were seated right away. The ambiance was very nice and upscale all clean and shiny! Used to eat at that same corner when it was Lunt Avenue Marble Club many years ago! On to the food. We ordered a roast turkey French dip. Great chewy sourdough bread with melted cheese and what was excellent roasted sliced turkey. Great sandwich with a nice light ai jus for dipping. We had a choice of three side: French fries, slaw or small salad. The salad was a disaster. Nothing more than a handful of spring mix- that's it nothing else! The house dressing was a red wine vinegar which was not tossed on the salad. Just a handful of spring mix with no dressing whatsoever. Okay, the waitress quickly took care of that problem with a small ramekin of the dressing. All in all the turkey French dip for $19 was a good choice other than a cheap salad. (How about a couple of heirloom cherry tomatoes to at least provide some color.) Now on to the big disappointment- the Wagyu hamburger! There was so much stuff (lettuce?or possibly another handful of spring mix, tomato, some kind of sauce) piled on top of a thin little wagyu beef patty, my wife could not taste the beef at all. She shared a piece of the burger with me and I'll have to say- not at all impressed. Her fries were excellent, however, but when one pays $23 for burger, it should be an allstar. For $12, Chilis makes one of the best burgers in town and you can dress it how you want.
