El Taco Larry - My husband's burrito...it could have fed 3!

El Taco Larry? Yeah, we'll be back soon!!…read more Our Order: 1. Taco Appetizer. This comes with 5 tacos with meat of your choice. We ordered 2 asada, 2 carnitas, 1 tripa. We'll be ordering more tripa next time around as that was our favorite!!! 2. Quesadilla Loca. Hello? Just look at the picture and video. No regrets. 9/10. Would order again, again, and again. Would be 10/10 however, doesn't come with rice & beans. Easy fix though, we ordered it on the side. 3. Burrito de Carne Asada. The pico and guac typically goes inside however, i ordered on the side as a personal preference. Not the best i've had but pretty good overall. Honest rating 6.5/10. I'd like to try the other burrito options as this one was the most basic. 4. THE HORCHATA IS DELICIOUS!!!!! Not too sweet and just hit the spot. If i'm ever in the mood for some, this will be the go to spot. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and felt homey and welcoming. Enjoyed the atmosphere!! Hasta Luego Larry!!! (for now)

El Taco Larry is located on Pass Road just east of Debuys Road, in a location that has been a few…read moredifferent places over the years. It has an odd but memorable name, and they only have a social media presence and no website that I could find. I've been here a couple of times in the past several months and forgot to take photos, but their Facebook page is loaded with pictures of different dishes as well as their menu, so you can see what you're getting. They have an extensive menu with traditional offerings plus a lot of stuff you won't find in other Mexican restaurants. Last time I went, we were seated in a booth and it was very poorly made because you can feel every movement of the person behind you. The guy behind me was violently enjoying his meal because I was getting bumped around every time he moved. It was incredibly annoying and uncomfortable, like the back had become partially separated from the seat. I had the quesadilla combo, which was only $10.99, and it came with rice, beans, and salad. The "salad" was a small bit of lettuce with a dollop of sour cream and a few bits of tomato. It's not a side salad in case that's what you're expecting. The quesadilla actually had a good bit of chicken in it, but very little cheese, and everything was dry. It wasn't bad, but I don't think I'd order that again. If you're looking for a unique non-alcoholic drink, I highly recommend the Mangonada. It's a frozen blended fruit drink with lots of mango chunks and the straw is a tamarind candy stick. I really enjoyed mine but it does take a while to drink since it is completely frozen. Our server was great and friendly, and the food came out quickly, so this is a good place for lunch. It was packed last time I went, and I think it's helping to fill the void left by El Saltillo closing near the mall.

My partner had the carne asada tacos they said was a little dry in their opinion. Everything tasted pretty bland overall, nothing particularly special flavor-wise. The service, however, was great! The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere felt upbeat with a small bar inside, which gave it a fun vibe. Prices were reasonable, around $13 per plate, and the cleanliness was average. Overall, it was a fine experience, just not one I'd go back for the food.

It is a small place so wouldn't be great for large groups but there were plenty of space for our family or 6. The service was fast! Now let's get to food: the kids meals were excellent- amazing value !! Probably one of the best kids meals i have encountered lately- for the side of the kids meal, you can get either chips and queso or chips and salsa which my kids loved. It also comes with a drink. We got the 2 kid tacos for $8 and the steak quesadilla for $6! We were able to feed all 4 kids with that because of the size. The quesadilla was a good size too. My husband and i both got the 3 taco combo with rice- Our least favorite was the carne asada- that one needs some sort of sauce on it. Our favorite was the Belly of the Beast. Then next up was the black jack- that one was good too! I would easily get both of those again and then try another taco instead of the carne asada. It seems like the specialty tacos are the way to go! My husband i will say doesn't usually like taco places and he was a fan of this place! A definite win!! Wish we lived closer to one!

Sorry for the long review but this place deserves the time…read more This restaurant is in a blink and you will miss it location, which is a real shame. We received an enthusiastic greeting upon walking in the door which felt truly genuine, and not the forced feeling that usually accompanies the scripted entry greetings. They weren't busy so we were told to sit wherever suited us. Our server, Jairo was super friendly and eagerly answered any questions we had about both the food and the restaurant itself. I was interested in the panela lemonade, which I loved. It is a darker almost smokier version of lemonade made with brown sugar, which mellows out the acidity with more complex flavors. For an appetizer we had the empanada sampler which is now only 3 ground beef empanadas( my fault for not reading the description because it does clearly say it), it was explained to me that they used to be an actual sampler of flavors but that it is now just the ground beef. They are corn flour based empanadas. This gives the dough a slightly sweeter earthier taste which I personally preferred. They were perfectly filled and the sauces accompanying them were perfectly suited the them. For entrees we both ordered Picada platters. Usually when we go out we make sure not to order the same thing so we can try more things, but his time neither of us would budge. They come with grilled steak, chicken. cased chorizo, and rellena, fried pork belly, plantains, and yuca, served with roasted Colombian yellow potatoes and an arepa. DUDE! I'm glad I didn't give in and order something else. This was fantastic. The steak and chicken were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Sausages were all crispy. The only thing remotely negatively that was can come up with is that the fried foods did need a littl bit of salt. That being said I was more than happy with what was on the plate. I assure you the only reason everything didn't get smashed was I hadn't been awake long and it takes a bit to get my appetite, bit have no doubt I got the rest boxed. There is one key thing I want to say about something else that I ate here. Rellena, ie. Columbian black pudding/blood sausage. Just put it in your mouth, chew, and don't panic. It's amazing. I've had British black pudding and wasn't really a fan. This is different though. It has a much better texture to get off the bat. Crispy on the outside and a perfect density inside. The deep smokey seasonings elevate this to a piece of art. Just trust me on this one and don't descriminate against this sausage Find this little family owned restaurant and stuff your face, you won't regret it.
