    zucchini sticks
    Cindy L.

I was really craving soup on a rainy night so I ordered the French onion soup and zucchini sticks for takeout. I am not from around the area so when I went to pick it up, I was confused on where to go as the building is huge with multiple entry points. I picked a door and I was told to go around through the restaurant towards the attached bake shop and what a great money making strategy. I bought candy and two pastries while I was waiting for my food. When I got home, I saw that I was given a pretty healthy portion of cheese and bread for the top of my French onion soup which was nice but by that point it was not hot enough anymore to melt despite being less than 10 min away. It was a bit disappointing but that's on me for getting French onion soup as takeout. The fried zucchini also traveled pretty badly. There was a dipping sauce that was ranch (think?) but put in a plastic container within the box that melted and made it so that the sauce got all over the fried zucchini and made everything very soggy. I just didn't like the flavor either. I would definitely not order that again even in the restaurant. It seemed like a pretty popular restaurant so I'd be willing to give it another shot inside the restaurant but wouldn't recommend ordering for pick up. Love the bakery though! I heard the fruit tart was good and my profiterole was perfectly baked, though lacking flavor on the filling which was supposed to be mango but just tasted like a plain vanilla cream.

After going to the GH for years this is my opinion: 1. Great family atmosphere & local hangout place. 2. Awesome bartenders...especially Donna! 3. Great drinks & appetizers...prime rib is the best around. 4. Reasonable prices. The GH is a definitely a must for anyone in the seacoast area. I give a solid 4 stars so give it a try and Enjoy!

Stopped in for father's day! Seated right away! Very nice waitress, ordered drinks & looked over menu! They had some dad day specials as well! Husband had some clam chowder , it was amazing ! I had the prime rib , rice & broccoli! The rice was great! And the rib was pretty decent as well very tasty! Husband had the baked seafood platter , he said it was very good we will defiantly go back!

Happy they had Prime Rib during lunch hours. Was absolutely delicious. Wonderful dining experience, service was exceptional.

We landed in the room to the left, which was a total bonus because this restaurant had a cruise ship vibe going on. We swung by for a late drink and lunch because, priorities. We both went all in on the sweet summertime cherry lemonade, aka the drunkin delight. We kicked things off with the French onion soup, which was a total hit. I mean, absolutely delicious. For lunch, I opted for the California sandwich, because turkey, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and cheese with fries is the answer to all of life's questions. Hubby, on the other hand, went with the streak and cheese sandwich, also with fries, because he's a man of simple yet excellent taste. Both were very good, because of course they were.

Have driven by this place for years & years and I honestly thought it was a new place taken over recently only to find out its been the same & they just changed somethings around (sign out front, and a slight reno) Whenever Mom and I are out driving around looking for food we always end up at the same spots, so we decided this time to just pull in, I didnt even tell her where we were going I just pulled in. Confused at first where to go but then we found it, Walked in & its soo much nicer inside than the outside leads you to believe it is going to be. I might have slightly felt underdressed (I had on mom sweats that day - not house ones, but just casual ones) The place is nice, the atmosphere is nice, It was around 2-3 when we got there & everyone there was slightly of the older generation! Menu had many options, was torn on what to do, were we there for apps & drinks, did we want a full meal, what to do?! We got a bunch of apps, a pizza and some drinks, and bread (Im all about unnecessary carbs) Apps were ok, Mussels were TINY - no fault of theirs, just might have been better if there was something to them. Calamari was good. The pizza although hesitant at first (Shrimp with Red sauce) was rather tasty I put my card down on the table & expected the bill, instead he ran the bill and then gave me back the CC receipt, we paid $98 for 2 apps, 2 drinks & Pizza, I have since gone back in & tried to do the math based on the menu and that is WAY OFF, Unless the drinks were $25 each, I didnt realize until after we had walked out, So for $98 it wasnt somewhere I would run back to, However it was good, Next time I might just pay closer attention, but writing this has me back in the 'What the hell was $98" zone!!

Not a great experience. For the high price I expected much more. The fish and fries were cold and lacked taste.

This place is absurdly consistent. The portions are always generous, the quality is never caught lacking, and the dining room is spotless in that reassuring someone actually cares way. The staff (and it's always the same people that are there, which is cool in itself that there's no noticeable turnover in the staff) is friendly without being fake about it... efficient, pleasant, and clearly proud of what they're serving from fryers behind the soda fountains. Let's talk food, because wow. That's why you're reading this. The fried shrimp are so good that my wife (who does not like seafood) actively loves them. That alone should be printed on the menu. I've only known her to eat fried shrimp when the breading weighs more than the shrimp itself (which is not the case here). The tartar sauce is the best in North America. It's my crack. If I drank it through a straw (a bit too thick), that straw would be called a crack pipe. I literally smile writing about this tartar sauce. I will not be taking questions at this time. The "regular" fries are exactly what fries should be: crisp, fluffy, salty perfection. And the onion rings? Peak "fried seafood place" onion rings... golden, crunchy, and unapologetically doing their job, not tempura style, but old school Weathervane "fried seafood style" onion rings that you can sub in instead of fries on plates/boats for a small upcharge. Even the bathrooms are clean, which sounds like a throwaway detail until you realize how rare that is and how much it says about the place. We love it so much that we'll happily drive 40 minutes each way to eat there - in winter - because that's what you do when a place never lets you down. And despite the sign saying Al's Seafood, we tell everyone it's called "Big Al's Seafood" Not because that's the name, but because that's the energy this place has... It's not trendy. It's not trying to reinvent anything. It's just awesome, every single time and honestly, that's harder to pull off than any gimmick. Signing off... keep it up, Big Al.

This was a nice changeup with casual comfort food. Think pizza, burgers and the like. The dining room is nice, open air out front with outside tables, a big bar and a fun surfer/beach theme. The hostess first tried to bring us to the far back corner of the restaurant and I knew we would not like feeling so isolated from the rest of the diners, so we asked if we could sit elsewhere, and she was quite agreeable. I had my eye on their Mai Tai with a honey foam top, which brought me right back to Hawaii where MonkeyPod restaurant does a similar rendition with a lilikoi foam topping. Point Break served a tasty and potent version. We didn't order apps, but my Mac & Cheese was very good. Seemed that everybody was very happy with their food as well. Fried haddock, pulled pork and a nice salad. Our server was great, and quickly handled one mistake (a full dinner was served instead of a sandwich, and so he brought out the fries which came with the sandwich). Perhaps the only real negative is parking, which is tricky at the south end of Hampton Beach. There is plenty of resident parking nearby, but otherwise you might have to walk a bit to get to a paid parking spot or lot. Give them a try! We don't visit this part of the beach often and rarely for dinner, but we might make an exception to try this spot again.

The Parker House rolls were savory warm perfection and a great way to start the meal. My entree, the gnocchi with duck confit was one of the best things I've ever tasted (though very rich--I had to bring half home). And I tasted my dining companion's duck breast an it was also delicious (which they concurred in thinking). The dessert special was a sticky toffee pudding with bananas foster ice cream and peanut butter magic shell and I wish I could eat it every day. The only downsides were that (1) I didn't love the dessert cocktail (which was also absent a garnish), but it could also very well be personal preference and it was only $7, (2) it was freaking freezing in the restaurant. We were seated in a corner that didn't seem to have any baseboard heaters, and even though we weren't far from the fireplace, there was so little insulation on the windows we were all egregiously uncomfortable. The service was great, with the waitress very helpfully answering all our questions and brining each course with perfect timing. The food itself is on the expensive side, though I thought the drinks were normal for a nice restaurant (my other drink, which I enjoyed, was $13). But for the quality of the food, it's hard to complain.
