I felt like a kid in a candy store digging for treasure. Honestly adds to the enjoyment of the films I picked up. Because the experience wasn't solely reduced down to me clicking a button on a screen and having the movie shipped to me, which often has left me with buyer's remorse due to impulse purchases because of how little friction there is in that. But here, at Video Depot, I was transported to a time where life was simpler, slower, and my purchasing habits felt more deliberate. More restrained, selective, and meaningful. To be able to go in and be mesmerized by the shelves full of movies, CD's, comics, all the cool posters on the wall was extremely fun. I ended up getting some Scooby Doo DVD's and a sealed box set of VHS tapes that looked interesting and that I couldn't even find on eBay. Gina, the store owner, was an absolute sweetheart. Extremely warm and kind person. You can immediately feel her good energy and almost want to linger around in the store longer just to be around her. She reminded me so much of my grandmother :) She even gave me water and donuts. Overall, I left elevated. Which is in stark contrast to 80% of my online purchases where again, I'm left with buyer's remorse because I clicked a button thinking I wanted something and then it comes in the mail and I don't even want it anymore. The titles I picked up from Gina's store now have a story to them. A memory. Adds to the magic of the film.

Gina is a good person and will always greet you with kindness. Great selection of DVDs and VHS plus…read moreblueray.

A video store for all of us intellectual movie nerds!…read more Videotheque sells some new and used DVDs and Blu-Rays, but their main purpose of being is as a video rental store and it's like no other video store I've been too. Their videos are organized by how a cinema fan's mind works. By category, by country, by director. John Woo movies in the Hong Kong director's section. Hou Hsiao-Hsien in Taiwan. There's classic porn from the 70s, 80s and 90s. There are Criterion discs. There are John Huston movies, Godard movies, Wim Wenders and David Lynch. Dario Argento horror movies. Sci-fi. Pre Sci-fi. Post Sci-fi. Brazilian. African. Silent films... I could go on and on. If you are looking for an obscure out of print classic film that's not on streaming, there's an 80% chance that you can find it here to rent. There is street parking nearby. The problem? I live in OC and this place is in Mount Washington/Montecito Heights. So if I move down there, I'll be renting some unheard of movies, that's for sure!

And this place? It gets it. There's something about flipping through dusty records that just hits different. It's like walking into a thrift store and catching that mid-century smell--you either understand it or you don't. I do. I live in band tees 90% of the time, and this spot is basically my natural habitat. I've built up little collections over the years--certain genres, classics I refuse to let go of--and being here made me actually consider bringing some pieces back in. But also... you never know when the internet might betray you, and suddenly that random DVD becomes essential again. The vibe here is unmatched, super nostalgic without trying too hard. And the service? Genuinely great. Friendly, helpful, and not pushy at all. Also--fell completely in love with a Madonna T-shirt that I absolutely need in my life. Definitely coming back. Easy five stars.

The experience was fine and the sale of them went super smooth,. They were very fast checking them and having my money ready but the 2 guys behind the counter that were helping me were pretty rude and unwelcoming. Just the way they talked to me and seems very unfriendly. I've never brought items in to sell and don't know how fast they would go they them since it was a Saturday and I figured they would be busier then a weekday, I took a bunch of games to sell to GameDude a week previous and they took like 4 hours to go thru them. I literally had to drop them off and come back hours later. I didn't know if that was the norm or what. So i walked in with just my crate of CDs, because I figured I could always come back another day with the DVDs but i got called fast. Since it went quickly I figured I'd bring my DVDs in, and then I told one guy that I had a crate of DVDs to bring in also and he snapped an was like "Why didn't you bring them all in at one time?" I'm sorry I actually thought I was doing them a favor because maybe it was busy or they were short staffed. How the hell am I supposed to know? So then I brought the crate of DVDs in. I also lost my voice a few days prior and was just getting on back so my voice is pretty low at the moment l, so when I spoke to them, they were like "What? I can't hear you". Almost like I was annoying them with my low voice. I don't know if they were the owners or what, they were older guys and not some younger employee so I assume maybe owners or managers. So my point is the stores pretty cool and they have some great stuff, but the two guys in front were kinda dicks. Doubt I'll be back.

And while we didn't find the particular albums that we were looking for, we were blown away by the sheer ambiance and amount of product they do possess. Being a child of the 70's and '80s, we could have looked through their collection for four or five hours easy since I think those were the greatest decades of music with artist who not only achieved legendary status, but even one hit wonders that what have you going back into time. In fact, we were joking with the staff that we easily could have opened and closed the place down by doing an entire day shift right alongside them! The place really blows you away from a 5 senses standpoint as well. The sights, sounds, and smells all hit you at once-and in here and on this occasion, that was a great thing. If you follow a little hallway it leads you into a completely different section into what seems like a another small universe or at least galaxy. Once on the other side of this hallway which leads you to another portion of the building entirely, your met with even more records and additional musical and odd treasures. To top it off, a bar with alcohol awaits you! Lol You can't make this place up! Bottom line here folks is this is a really cool, cool place-especially for those who love classic music, a good beer, and the idea of hunting for what you want. I'd highly recommend this place....just be prepared to put in some serious time for research and for your senses to be able to take it all in.

We went to geeksquad first, which apparently no longer sends out consoles to Sony for repair. And then we went to GameStop, where we were told that they do not do repairs either. But the workers at GameStop highly recommended Videomen. That is how we came to know about this location. I came to Videomen with my husband after calling and explaining the issue that we were having with my husbands ps5 slim. My husbands first impression was very pessimistic, simply because the location looks like it hasn't been updated in years. We went in and met Tai. Tai is the only one working in the store. I believe it is his location. He explained he would try his best to fix the issue, and quoted us a price for the repair. He said if he wasn't able to fix the console, he would only charge $25 for his time, which we found very reasonable. Tai told us to give him a call in hour for a report on his progress. We left and my husband was still very doubtful, saying the store was empty, and outdated. I told my husband that it looked like Tai and the Videomen location had been there for more than 20 years, working to repair electronics. I told him, I put my faith in him much more than a kid working part time in a newer store. After an hour we called again at 5:00pm, well past the store closing time. But Tai answered the phone to let us know that he was still working to solve the issue and would need more time. We understood and agreed to give him another call back in an hour. Tai ended up giving us a call around 6:00pm letting us know the console was up and running perfectly again! He asked if we wanted to pick up tonight or tomorrow. I let Tai know we were about 25 minutes according to GPS and he agreed to wait for us to pick the console up from his store. When we arrived Tai was very communicative. He connected the ps5 for a monitor to show us that the console was up and running smoothly before he explained all he had done to repair the console, and the likely reason it failed to work in the first place. He told us he let the console run for about 45 minutes to make sure the issue didn't arise again. And literally explained everything we needed to know to prevent the issue from ever happening again. Now, My husband is in a much better mood since we have received the working PS5 back from Tai. And we 100% recommend him to anyone and everyone in need of an electronic repair. I definitely recommend calling beforehand to speak to Tai, verifying that he will be in the store. And to communicate the item you need repaired plus the issues you are having with it. It's very rare to see a mom and pop shop still standing, and I am happy I was able to support this gem in my community. We will definitely return for any future repairs our family may need, And will proudly refer Tai at Videomen to anyone looking to repair their gaming console.

First mistake was when he told me that he doesn't give receipts and that he has my name number. He later called and told me me he couldn't get any disc to read after cleaning it (I had just been playing kingdom hearts 2 literally an hour before going to his run down pos shop). He explained I should just get a new ps2 from Amazon and that the laser is completely broken. I tried to play when I came back home just for the ps2 not to work and read any of my games from my library. Dude charged me money just to break my console that I had since 2003. What a joke of a business and terrible customer service. Who gets bothered when a customer ask for a receipt of service. I can see why dude is a quack.
