I felt like a kid in a candy store digging for treasure. Honestly adds to the enjoyment of the films I picked up. Because the experience wasn't solely reduced down to me clicking a button on a screen and having the movie shipped to me, which often has left me with buyer's remorse due to impulse purchases because of how little friction there is in that. But here, at Video Depot, I was transported to a time where life was simpler, slower, and my purchasing habits felt more deliberate. More restrained, selective, and meaningful. To be able to go in and be mesmerized by the shelves full of movies, CD's, comics, all the cool posters on the wall was extremely fun. I ended up getting some Scooby Doo DVD's and a sealed box set of VHS tapes that looked interesting and that I couldn't even find on eBay. Gina, the store owner, was an absolute sweetheart. Extremely warm and kind person. You can immediately feel her good energy and almost want to linger around in the store longer just to be around her. She reminded me so much of my grandmother :) She even gave me water and donuts. Overall, I left elevated. Which is in stark contrast to 80% of my online purchases where again, I'm left with buyer's remorse because I clicked a button thinking I wanted something and then it comes in the mail and I don't even want it anymore. The titles I picked up from Gina's store now have a story to them. A memory. Adds to the magic of the film.

They sell some Pokemon figures and other figures as well but not Pokemon cards because another guest walked in with their kid to look for them. The man working behind the counter was trying to help them by calling other GameStop stores to check if they have them. I saw they have some expensive PlayStation 5 controllers here as well. I also saw some Star Wars lightsaber and helmet that they kept close to the ceiling.

I called and very politely asked a simple question of how much a ps5 repair typically costs for power issues. No glitchy, pixelated, or blank screen whatsoever. I always give them a cleaning with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol before inserting for the first time. And found this one to be pretty clean. The QTips usually look like I've dipped them in ink afterwards. Not here though. Wonder if they clean them beforehand? Yes, I could have possibly saved a few bucks buying online, but for various reasons I wanted to support this business. Which has been around for quite some time. Also I found the vibe here to be way more chill, compared to the recent GameStops I've been to. The music playing here was really cool as well.

I had a PS3 system with controllers and various games and was looking to sell it. As I recently bought a PS4 and could not play any PS3 games on the system and no longer needed it. I had this system for a couple years, and got my money's worth out of it and felt it could be sold for something higher than $100 and about an additional $50-$100 for the games. I began my research, looking into various game stores within a 15 mile distance and I also ventured into the online marketing/advertising websites. I personally didn't want to advertise my system on Amazon, Ebay, or Craigslist, etc. I understand that I could of possibly made a little more money, if I did advertise it online. With that in mind, take into consideration that there is a huge competitive market in selling used systems and games on those sites. I was just looking to sell them at what i thought to be a reasonable price (around $150-$200) for a quick buck. I didn't want to deal with making of multiple accounts, the shipping process, the waiting, and etc. I started out at my local neighborhood GameStop. I brought in my system and games to be determined for a price. A long story short, I was not impressed with there "buying/trade in program". They offer you a minimal cash output based on what their computer system says! Without giving any explanation as to why they are priced as such? It is nice to know the details, so the customer has a better understanding and can come to a consensus of a Yes or No. The employees and Management couldn't really give me a reason or any details. Clearly, the work force in that GameStop was mediocre and not fully knowledgable of their own program. Although, I can't say they didn't offer an alternative. I was offered store credit, and the value for my system and games was slightly higher than the cash output, but NOT significant enough to say," This is a good deal!" It is a real bummer that they would create such a program that is questionable and leaves you without any reasoning, details or knowledge as to why? If you like GameStop and you are pleased, I can respect that! I was not impressed, but to each their own. Finding GameStop to be a bust. I decided to check out the next nearest game shop; The Game Exchange. I have heard about there long history in Simi Valley, and saw positive reviews. Before venturing to the actual store, I wanted to call and make sure that they were able to buy systems and games, and that someone would be there to analyze the system and games, and be able to authorize and determine a cash/check form of payment. I called, and had a young gentleman by the name of Joseph pick up. I asked my questions and stated what I want. He answered very kindly, promptly and professionally. He told me he is the owner of the store, and from my questions, he was clear and direct in what he was willing to buy. I had just what he was looking for, and he welcomed me to stop by the store to determine a price. He then gave me a time period on his availability. Two hours later and traveling less than one mile from my house, I stop by. I come in holding everything, and he was currently informing two customers and processing their purchases . He politely excuses himself for a brief amount of time, and tells me he will be with me in a moment. Then suggests, that I may put down everything on a nearby table, as he could see my hands were full. After servicing the customers ahead of me, he kindly greeted and introduced himself, and shook my hand. He even remembered and recognized my phone call, that I made 2 hours ago. Already, I was in a positive mood and found him to be very trustworthy, friendly and self-motivated. He looked at my system and games and checked their condition. He asked, what price I would like for them and asked if I have checked out any other places. I replied with a $150-$200 range, and I visited GameStop and various online marketing sites, along with my reasoning for not going with those options. He clearly understood, and told me NOT to tell him the quoted prices those other places gave. As he wanted to make a reasonable and non comparable price. He also gave a buyer priced percentage in comparison to what he tries to sell it for in his shop. Adding up the totals it hit my goal of $150-$200. He asked me if that was reasonable. I considered all the factors, and service and came to an agreement. We concluded our business and parted ways with a hand shake and smile each. My overall experience with The Game Exchange is very high. The owner is motivated, understanding, knowledgable, and wants to build an excellent customer relationship. He also understands, what it means to create a win-win situation. This business knows customer service, and how to address/help their customer's needs. As a plus, the store is clean and organized, making it easy to find and locate your desired game or system. Needless to say, they have earned my respect. I'm in Simi Valley because of a job so looked up "Simi Valley retro video games" online and Game Exchange popped up. I was greeted at the door by Joe(owner/operator/technician/one man show) who gave me a tour around his store. He asked me what I was interested in and I told him Sega Genesis games. He went into the back of the store(he has run out of room in the front so ask for what you want if you don't see it) and brought out a box of Genesis games that were still not priced. I found a game I had been looking for and asked him how much? I knew the value of the game and that the price always gets jacked up by games stores so I was expecting him to tell me something crazy like $40. He didn't. He told me that he would beat the price I had from a rarity guide website since I was a first time customer(I carry around a price guide cheat sheet in my wallet for the games I'm after). I'm from out of town so it was great to be able to test the game in store before I bought it since a return would have been out of the question. Now I know this review might sound like I have some personal investment in the store but I don't. I just appreciate amazing customer service. It's a great place to shop. I haven't found a business that is genuinely interested in customer service in a long time! Finally found one! Joseph is a pleasure to do business with! We found the game exchange when my daughter came home from college to visit with a broken screen on her iphone. Being a student on a budget we took her phone to the game exchange. Best price in town, we were reluctant but couldn't be happier with the quality of the repair. Joseph went out of his way to get the phone fixed quickly as she had to catch a bus. We just called to see if they might know where to take our computer hard drive for repair, and what do you know, they do that as well! If you are into gaming, go check the store out they have lots. If you need your phone or computer repaired, check them out you will be glad you did! Great resource! read more

I am beyond happy with the service here, I had cracked my Iphone 6s plus screen July this year. The staff and Brandon quoted me a really good price (better than Ubreak Ifix) & (and better than Apple). What I liked most is the level of professionalism and having the option to choose original parts or aftermarket for my Iphone. Also no appointments like Apple, I just walked in and had my phone fixed in 30 minutes flat in & out, quick, reliable, and trustworthy. Along with that Brandon provided a warranty, fast forward to 10/01/2016 I take my Iphone back due to some LCD issues. Brandon again to the rescue fixed it in no time. Fantastic place for any video gaming needs. Consoles, controllers, games, you name it, this place has got it. I've probably spent more money here than I should have but I sure don't mind it! The owner and the employees are very accommodating for your needs, and will try to help you in any way. The guys working here are so nice!!!!!! They have all the old games and even new ones. Gamestop refused to take back my copy of The Order 1886 (the game that is a movie"). They said they will take it for $5. Its literally worthless. They said they could fix my Wii too Update: I brought in my ps4 controller to get the buttons fixed. The guy fixed it pretty fast and did some extra fixing for FREE. Gamestop and Sony said I needed another controller, not these guys! read more

Also a lot of them smell really bad, it's becoming a serious issue at larger events. The 40K community is fantastic, though and so is the D&D and other misc games. Great store, highly recommend.

My wife and I were on our way home to San Diego and we were impressed with the selection compared to the many LCS's we have back home. They really have it all: TCG, sports, boxes, packs, tables for ripping, supplies, bulk boxes, binders to go through, SUPER cool art and murals hanging around, and as a bonus, a whole separate room where they have a golf simulator, basketball hoop, and more collectibles. Oday, one of the managers, gave us a quick tour of the whole shop since it was our first time. He was dope to talk to and willing to help out with any questions I had. I know they host streamers and trade nights here occasionally from their IG, but it was a chill Monday morning when we came. Saw some military guys rip the chase they were hoping for from a recent Pokemon pack. What a cool place to hit your chase! Most people will probably comment on the pricing being somewhat above market, but for a card shop of this caliber, with this much selection, it's honestly reasonable. They are a business after all. If I lived closer I'd probably be here weekly lol. They also buy cards and have a lot of bins/binders to go through so there's still plenty of goodies to spend hours digging through, no matter what you're hunting for. Right up front in the sports section there's a super cool octagon setup where they run live breaks, which immediately gives the store a fun, high-energy vibe. As you move further inside, you get to the TCG and tabletop section--and honestly, it has one of the largest selections of products I've ever seen in a retail card store & prices are great! Every time I visit, the Magic: The Gathering selection keeps getting better and better too. Then in the back, the space somehow keeps going... there's a basketball hoop and even a full six-digit golf simulator with multi-sport options. It's not just a shop--it's an experience. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Sometimes you'll see them on their phones, but it's actually because they're looking up card values for customers on the spot, which is awesome service. I refuse to go into tool debt, and Snap-On isn't in the budget, especially new. They actually have used Snap-On stuff and since it's used, it's in great shape and not as crazy expensive. Like I had an airsoft gun that I wanted to pawn off and they were like, "It's really not worth much, better off just keeping it". I've bought many tools here, most are old and really well built. The most memorable find was a massive ancient Japanese pipe wrench, this thing is all cast iron and super heavy for serious work. This pawn shop is a huge step up from many places that just sell tools in sets so they're actually kinda expensive, whereas here you can buy a drill one trip, then some batteries & a charger the next time and not have to drop tons of money in one fell swoop.

Instead of offering flexibility, I was told the reservation would be canceled if I didn't come in that same day and that no refund would be issued. To me, this shows a lack of respect for customers' needs and circumstances, especially when those needs are based on faith. A reasonable business would provide at least a basic window of time or accommodation. Because of this rigid and dismissive policy, I will not be returning, and I strongly recommend that anyone considering a reservation carefully confirm the store's pickup terms in advance. I originally posted this review some time ago, and I stand by my experience. Rather than pressuring to have negative reviews removed, businesses should focus on improving how they treat their customers. My experience was real, and I believe it's important to share it so others can make an informed choice.
