The place is small and cannot accommodate large groups. We had 2 adults and 1 child. From the time we walked in to the time we didn't get our food, was 21/2 hours. We finally told the waitress to cancel our order. We ordered chicken nuggets for our granddaughter and chicken for ourself. We took the chicken nuggets to go and our dinner still wasn't ready! Food was OK, nothing special. Waited a long time for food even though there were only two other parties there when we arrived, it was an early dinner around 5PM on a Friday. Cooks were NOT wearing masks during this COVID pandemic. The server was wearing a mask sometimes but she kept pulling it down under her nose, then under her chin and while it was pulled down with her mouth uncovered she was bantering/yelling/laughing across the restaurant with other guests. Went to this place just looking for something different. That is exactly what my lady and I found. I had a burger called the count burger and it was one of the best I have ever had. The staff was all very sweet and kind and nice enough to let us in as they were just minutes from them closing. The food in general tasted very fresh and cooked to order. We were okay with waiting but after we were seated it took 55 minutes for our food to get out to us. The devils bread was very good as well as the cheese curds. The service was good as well! I'm not gonna lie. I was looking down my nose at this place. It was late and I was hungry. Got seated. Waitress was very nice. Menu has some interesting items. Ordered white fish bites for an appetizer. They were really good. I got the bison burger with sweet potato wedges. It was unbelievably good. Burger had fresh cucumber slices, lettuce and wine sautéed onions. I devoured it. The sweet potato wedges came out with a dill sauce. Delicious. We always make sure to stop at The Gangplank when in town. We had some fish tacos (which the salsa and flakiness of the fish was excellent), whitefish sandwiches (again, perfectly cooked fish but could have used more of that dill mayo sauce) The Count burger (tons of yummy garlic with a kick of spice) and of course their homemade fries (always my personal favorite!). We were only in town for one night this place is amazing they were really busy but it's definitely worth the wait they make their fries fresh I got the Mac attack it was huge and delicious the meat was fresh it didn't taste like it was a frozen patty my wife got a chicken and waffles sandwich it was so good they have something for everyone my daughter is super picky and she got chicken tenders and she loved them they make their ranch dressing at the restaurant. Randomly walked into this place and couldn't be happier with the decision! The food was fresh and delicious! Our waitress Kaitlin was great!

The wait is extremely long and miscalculated. It also took over an hour for our food to arrive with no explanation. The food was decent but nothing special or worth a wait like we had. I would not recommend. I hate leaving bad reviews but we went due to all the good ones, not again. read more

First. Great staff. Very prompt, courteous, and willing to assist as much as possible. As others stated, they only have outside seating as of this review and limited to 12 tables or so - so be prepared to wait a bit and don't knock the place due to limited seating (saw some stupid comments about the wait which I've waited more for fast food these days). Second the food. Family of four and ordered boneless wings, Cuban, Cheeseburger, and shrimp tacos. Wings were pretty good (sampled), I got the Cuban and it was okay but would have preferred it to be pressed in a panini style but again okay. Cheeseburger was okay from the other person and nothing to write home and feedback on the Shrimp Taco was pretty good (7/10). Oh we did start out with the Vampire Bread which was cheesy style bread with some garlic sauce and tomatoes. Nearly solid place but had to knock it down a notch. I never eat fish tacos, but had heard these were to die for. So I ordered the white fish tacos. They were out of this world! The sauce and onion relish gave it a fresh and unique taste. So good! My husband ordered the Two Ton Tess Burger. He always orders burgers so has had many in all different restaurants. He was very impressed with this one. Double patties, tons of cheese and lots of bacon with a soft egg on top. Lots of other toppings too. It was amazing! The seating is on a tent covered patio and is limited. Even if there are no empty tables, still order and take to go. There is a beautiful marina across the street with picnic tables. The food is THAT good. read more

Good food but be prepared for a lengthy wait whether they have a full deck or empty one. Make sure to ask for your order to be repeated or you will end up missing drinks or an appetizer. Half the servers are attentive, polite and helpful the other half makes you feel like you are a burden. If you hit the gang plank on a day with great servers, it's a good experience even with the wait. Definitely not the place to stop if you are wanting to eat within 20 to 30 minutes. We haven't been big fans of the burgers, they seem to have an odd taste to us but we are a fan of the rest of the sandwiches, wings and fish tacos. Not sure why this is the top-rated restaurant in town, must be the prices. We had the buffalo burgers, which were very good. The french fries were good, but the sweet potato wedges were thin shaved and greasy. I would have gotten the whitefish tacos, but they are made with flour tortillas, not masa. Stopped at this casual little lake side eatery in Saint Ignace. and we were not disappointed we were waited on immediate even though they were busy (Drew was our server and she was great). The grandkids had the clucking waffle and raved about it ate it all and it was huge portion (this is a must try). My daughter and son in law had the fish tacos and they said the were perfect, crispy, great salsa. I had the captions choice white fish salad and it was fantastic! We stopped here on our way through on a week-long UP trip. Parking was super easy and the view is great! It's essentially a patio with a great view. It IS small, so be prepared to wait for a table. Service is GREAT--we were checked on many times and never waited for a drink. Good list of beers, wines and cocktails. We were sad that they were out of whitefish, as that is what we both planned to have. And food takes a LONG time to come out. However, the wait is worth it! You can tell that the food was JUST MADE. We stopped at The Gangplank based upon the other reviews. We were extremely disappointed. We waited for our food for 25 minutes with no apologies or explanation. Once the food arrived, again extremely disappointed. My wife's sweet potato fries were almost burnt and tasted terrible. My burger was very well done and fries were mediocre. When we mentioned the well done burger, we were told all burgers are made well done. The waitress asked me if she could get me anything else, but based upon what we already received, we weren't going to order more food and wait another 25 minutes. We thought given our complaints, the restaurant would have subtracted the extra cost for the sweet potato fries, as a goodwill gesture. This restaurant will be off our list for any future visits to this area. read more
