It's surprisingly difficult to find decent biscuits and gravy anywhere, or at least, so I'm told. But the biscuits and gravy at Pancake House are actually very good! The gravy is hot, the biscuits are soft, and if you get it with an egg on top, they're even better. But biscuits and gravy are just one of the items you'll find on the breakfast menu here. (They serve breakfast all day.) Of course, they have pancakes: buttermilk pancakes, blueberry pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes, and even red velvet pancakes. We got an order of the buttermilk pancakes, which are a la carte, and then you can add on an egg or bacon or sausage for an additional fee. We got bacon on the side. Another sweet thing we got for our breakfast: a cinnamon roll, which was large and perfectly swirled. Apparently, it had the perfect amount of icing on it. I got the mushroom and Swiss omelet, which was not my favorite. Swiss cheese has such a mild flavor, as do eggs, and mushrooms have zero taste unless you add something to make them soak up that flavor, so this omelet tasted like ... butter? Or whatever they used to grease the pan. I had to add a lot of Cholula hot sauce to my omelet just to taste something. And I don't even particularly like Cholula. Omelets come with your choice of toast. The coffee was great, though, and was replenished quickly. The service was super quick, too. You can tell that these guys are used to dealing with a crush of people during the busy season, because everyone was very efficient. Pancake House also shares the same location as Ryba's Fudge Shop. You're actually sitting and eating breakfast in a fudge shop. (Or maybe people are buying fudge from a breakfast joint. Same-same.) read more

This may have been one of hubs' family standbys from years ago, since he remembered and wanted breakfast here while we were on the island last weekend. The food was good and service was friendly. They've got an interesting set up of using the tables in the fudge store before it opens, for more seating during breakfast time. I would've enjoyed our experience here had the front door not opened every 2 minutes to release cold air into the front of the restaurant. Even a warm stack of pancakes couldn't stop me from shivering. Husband's breakfast burrito was good, but on the smaller side for the price. Pancakes were great for $11 and a decent amount of food. We hit the island on the 9 am ferry so we were pumped to eat some breakfast. I saw the blueberry pancakes on another table and they looked really good. Spoiler alert: they weren't! Honestly the worst pancakes I've ever had. The blueberry topping was good but I didn't care for the pancakes at all. I really enjoyed my breakfast here! They serve delicious, fresh, buttery pancakes with a generously sized little pitcher of real maple syrup. Arrived at 8:10ish on Sat. morning. The place was pretty full. We were seated at an 8 topper with another couple. We were told to sit at the far end of the table. They tried to distance patrons as much as possible. It's a small place though so not much they could do. We ordered the eggs Benny and cinnamon French toast. Both were delicious. My family and I dined here for breakfast. They are getting 2 stars only because the wait time and service was fast. Food was mid especially for everything costing $20. They lost stars because of cleanliness, my bread had mold on it. They were cleaning the air filters directly over where they prepare food and during breakfast rush. They also don't have any bathroom even if you are a paying customer. Some of the hostess/waitress were also very rude and dismissive to people in my party when asking a question. Pancake lovers be aware that a tiny container with maybe two tablespoons of maple syrup will cost you $3.99 and if you ask for more you will be charged again. Busy but we were seated pretty quickly and the server was nice, however they charged us 2 whole entrees when all I asked for was a simple addition to an item charging us $24 when it should have been just a side. Now normally I would say okay it is what it is, but then they left off other items that were supposed to be included and when I pointed it out, all they said was "sorry" then walked away. My companion and I stopped in the Pancake House for breakfast. We were greeted immediately and waited only 10 minutes to be seated. Our server brought coffee very quickly and took our food order. On the day I left the island I got to the ferry an hour too early. Luckily this place opens at 7am so I had somewhere to go to get breakfast and kill time. Great little place - especially when I needed a breakfast fix! The restaurant always seemed busy when we were walking up and down the town. It was about lunch time but we were wanting breakfast - thankfully breakfast is served anytime. We were a bit confused on if it was seat yourself or wait to be seated? The entrance door butts right into tables, so I told my husband to just go in and see what we should do. We were then seated at a table, so it all got figured out! Our waiter was very friendly and attentive - I believe his name was Joseph (or I could be terribly wrong)? He was great and provided great service!! The decor is comfy and more like a diner but it was clean. I got the Banana Nut French Toast and it was ah-mazing. I could have done with just two pieces instead of three! But it was very filing, in a good way! My husband got a side of hash browns and meat omelet and was very happy. Hash browns were not soggy like some hash browns. Celiac people or people with digestive issues nightmare. NO BATHROOMS!!!! You've been warned. We were advised that you have to walk over a block to the public ferry bathroom which has all the charm (and cleanliness) of a bus depot bathroom. We asked to be seated in the front booth, and the woman told us she was saving it for a larger party. Of course no one else came in. The gluten free/allergy spiel on their website and menu is total BS also because if you actually have celiac, EVERYTHING is cooked on the same griddle. You can't say in writing how seriously you take food allergies and gluten issues if you make absolutely no provisions for it. Food tastes pretty good but there's no way I would ever go back. read more
