My last ten stays in Key West have been at the Garden House which is a few blocks off of the busy Duval Street. The rates are excellent during the summer months and ask for Sammy the host who makes my stay each time enjoyable. Waffles topped with fresh fruit is complementary every morning. The rooms are not modern but clean and cute and a small pool is on property. Parking is available and also bicycles for cheap.

Stayed at this bed and breakfast hotel several times and love the hospitality and location, which is a couple blocks from the heart of Duval Street which boasts tons of great restaurants and legendary bars. We wake up in the morning to a fresh stack of waffles with fruit and whip cream on top, with a bowl of cut fruit and OJ. We sit in the center common area at two small tables overlooking a small tropical pool. My favorite part of this hotel is the FREE unlimited beer and yogurt in a small fridge on the counter top next to the hot coffee. The staff here is friendly, but the best guy is Sammy who in my opinion runs the show here and makes sure your stay is entertaining and enjoyable. Prices are high like everywhere else in the Keys until April, so reccommend summer months for decent rates.

Our stay at the Garden House was an absolute great experience. The fresh made waffles and fruit in the mornings to the comfortable relaxing atmosphere as a whole made our stay great.

The Garden House was perfect and conveniently located within walking distance from the Key West Express and Duval Street. The rooms were clean and comfortable, breakfast was delish and Sammy and his staff were the best....extremely friendly and made you feel at home! A member of our party slipped and fell and Sammy was right there to assist with whatever she needed! Highly recommend this quaint little place! Thank you, Sammy, for everything, including the many laughs!!

Booked this hotel last minute because we needed to stay the night in Key West before our flight the next day. Booking was super easy and quick. The Staff was helpful and courteous! This is the cutest little B&B with beautiful plants and foliage, ambrosial smells from all the Jasmine, it's adorably decorated, has nice clean rooms, and tasty breakfasts! We took advantage of the clothing optional pool which was a very comfortable temperature and private! Super easy walk to Duval St. and Mallory Square! Can't wait to come back to Key West and book this charming B&B again!

Excellent stay! Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Would stay again!

The rooms are comfortable and full of personality, with small details that make them feel lived-in rather than staged. Outside, the gardens are the star -- leafy, quiet and perfect for lingering. Our room had a wraparound porch and a hammock. Breakfast isn't an afterthought. It's fresh fruit, homemade dishes and good coffee served outdoors, slow and unrushed. And because it's independently owned, the hospitality feels real -- warm, attentive and low-key in the best way. You come to Key West for the energy. You stay here for the calm. And you leave wishing you'd planned to stay longer.

The Mermaid & The Alligator is hands-down the best bed-and-breakfast in Key West, and honestly, you'll wish you never had to leave. Housed in a 1904 Victorian mansion right in the heart of Old Town, this independently owned gem has the kind of charm chain hotels only pretend to have. Think wraparound porches, lush tropical gardens, orchids dangling from banyan trees, and a vibe so tranquil you half expect Hemingway to stroll through with a daiquiri. The rooms? Gorgeous. Each one feels personal, with Caribbean-inspired decor, canopy beds, and soft linens that make it way too easy to "accidentally" sleep through your Duval Street plans. Outside, the gardens are pure Key West magic: fountains trickle, palms sway, and yes -- the occasional rooster might strut by like it owns the place. Breakfast here is its own event: fresh tropical fruit, homemade pastries, quiches, and strong coffee served in the garden. It's the kind of peaceful start that makes you consider selling everything, moving here, and writing your memoirs. And because it's independently owned, the hospitality feels personal -- warm, genuine, and full of little touches that make you feel less like a guest and more like a friend who lucked into paradise. The Mermaid & The Alligator isn't just a stay; it's a love letter to Key West itself. Come for the charm, stay for the breakfast, and leave plotting how to "accidentally" extend your trip.
