I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich, loaded with lightly chopped steak and served on perfectly toasted bread that really made each bite stand out. The piney style sauce was not too spicy, had a slightly sweet flavor, and worked beautifully with the sandwich.I even had to stop myself from finishing it all just so I could enjoy some tasty leftovers later. The eggrolls and chicken sammy somehow managed to be even better than on our previous visit, which says a lot for their efforts to continually get better. If you haven't been to Garnett Grill in Barrington yet, you are seriously missing out. We've been there three times now, and every single visit has been phenomenal. We always order the cheesesteak, chicken cheesesteak, fries, chicken fingers, and the Gouda mac and cheese bites -- and every single thing is outstanding. The chicken fingers are beer battered, huge, and honestly some of the best we've ever had. And the piney sauce... I don't even know how to describe it other than it's the kind of sauce you dream about later. It's that good. The portions are gigantic, the place is clean, the atmosphere is relaxed, and they always have great music playing. You can tell they really care about what they're doing because the chef is also the owner, and it shows in the quality of the food. We absolutely love this place and somehow haven't even made it through the rest of the menu yet -- but we will. If you're anywhere near Barrington, do yourself a favor and go to Garnett Grill. Was really hoping to like it more after the various great reviews, proximity, type of sandwich they make, etc., but was just OK. Tried the the Camden style sandwich aka Donkey's style poppy seed roll, as well as another regular style cheese steak. The Camden style was just OK but I think Donkey's is better. Also tried the fries and they were OK but not great. Great location next to Tonewood and plenty of take out parking, but had higher hopes. read more

This place is great. The owners are super nice!!!! We came here because we found them on Instagram and let me tell you.... Forget about Donkey's Cheesesteaks. This place makes a "Camden Style" steak that is to die for. They make it with a Cooper Sharp cheese and onions that just bring all the flavors together. First time going here. Had a taste for a burger. Found this on google. Good rating. Ordered a double Smashburger, Onion Rings, and a chicken Sammy. Chicken Sammy was our least favorite. Brioche bun some chicken tenders( good chicken tenders) and a unmelted slice of cooper sharp cheese. Just wasn't worth the $10 to me. But it was okay. But the Burger and the Onion Rings were cooked to perfection. Only request I'll make sure to add next time is a little more seasoning. If not for that this would be an easy 10. The joint is across from Tonewood brewery, making it a great match. Inside has plenty of seats with a simple vibe. Tiny spot with limited parking. Stopped in to try their burger and fries. The burger was amazing! So fresh, juicy and flavorful. I just love crinkle fries so these were tasty. I just thought the serving portion of fries was small for the price. We had 1 order of fries and the serving portion didn't even reach the top of the container. My brother in law was craving a good burger and we'd heard lots of good comments about this place in Barrington. Plenty of open seating inside. Seat yourself, pick out what you want, then go up to the counter and order. I ordered a single smash burger and it was really, really good. Juicy, flavorful, seasoned well. Unfortunately, they forgot my fries that I had also ordered. They immediately put it on as soon as I went up to check on the missing fries and they had it out to me shortly. In fact, they tried to comp the crinkle fries, but honestly, it was a simple mistake that they corrected immediately, so I wasn't going to punish them. I insisted on paying for them. Let me tell you. I don't know what they did, but those were the best dang crinkle cut fries I've ever had! It's been a month since I've been there and I'm still thinking about those crinkle fries. SWOON. read more

Different Cheesesteak #1221. Special guest eater Ed drove all the way from Virginia to eat this cheesesteak. We got their 'Camden Style' cheesesteak and took it to the Courtyard Marriott Navy Yard. I feel dirty for how much I like this cheesesteak. I am a huge Donkey's fan, and I feel like I am cheating on Rob. Some meat was hanging out of the side of the cheesesteak. I thought it was going to be dry, but it wasn't. The onions have that wonderful old hot dog vendor flavor. There was a very good amount of cheese. Can there be too much cheese? I saw online today that you pick a non-seeded round roll. Nice clean place. Very nice people running the counter. Not being from the area, we had the GOS directing us to a local diner when my wife spotted this little place out the corner of her eye. One illegal u-turn later, and we were in the parking lot. Remarkably clean, cool atmosphere. Small menu, but they put a lot of effort into what's to there. Forgot what my wife got, but I had the double western burger with onion, bacon, and BBQ sauce. What got delivered was an eight inch high monolith of a burger with the most heavily breaded and delicious onion ring ever! This place is Amazing!!! Went in for the first time today because I've heard so many good things about the food. Upon entering I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and decor, it felt really homey and warm. As I moseyed up to the counter I was met by who I later learned to be one half of the married couple who owned this place and revived it from a dilapidated mess into a beautiful cozy nook perfect for any occasion from date night to family dinner. I had a really nice conversation with the Patrick the proprietor while my food was cooked expertly by Claudio. During our conversation Patrick showed me pictures of the struggles he and his wife had taking this place from a zero to a hero and I was really surprised. Now onto the food: I ordered the Camden style cheesesteak with fries on the side. The cheesesteak was HUGE and sooooo delicious!!! I shared with my sons as it was big enough for all of us. The fries were amazing too reminding me of the kind of fries you would make fresh at home but better lol!!!
