I like Gaetano's more than I thought I would. A solid 3.5 stars, if half stars were allowed. There's something homey and comforting about the food here. I've only ever got my food to go, so I can't speak much about the in-house dining or what it looks like inside because I've never picked up the food myself. From what I've heard, the food is always prepared quickly and ready in time, which is a definite plus. First off, their cheesesteaks are HUGE. They're basically a 2-foot long log that's 4-6 inches wide. MASSIVE. One cheesesteak could easily feed 3 people. The meat is finely chopped up, not sliced (I know my Philly peeps have strong opinions on this). The cheesesteak is really good-- melty and oozing with cheese, delicious soft bread, and perfect with some added jalapeño peppers. Highly recommend! We also ordered a pizza with sausage and mushrooms which was just okay. Nothing really stood out about it, but it was satisfying. A little oily for my liking, but not necessarily a bad thing LOL. Everything here is consistently delicious and fresh. Their salads are massive and packed with all the fixins (as we say in Texas). I kid you not, the Chef Salad I recently ordered to-go must have weighed 3 pounds and was enough for TWO lunches! It was piled high with cheese, meat, veggies, and a hard boiled egg. Incredible hidden hole in the wall spot in an otherwise run down shopping center along a busy stretch of highway outside of Camden New Jersey. The pizza is good but they're really known for their cheesesteaks! Had a friend visit from out of state and we got Gaetano's. I recommend getting the sharp provolone instead of American on your cheesesteak. The Jersey steak (FF, green peppers, A1) is another favorite. read more

I don't know about the rest of the food at Gaetanos, but they certainly have one of the best eggplant parm sandwiches that I've ever eaten. I was in South Jersey for an evening and we ran a Grubhub search to find a pizza place that would deliver to us. I would have been happy with any eggplant parm sandwich at that point, but an amazing one happened to show up at the door. Feeling glutinous, I decided to order the large for myself. It was huge! It was enough for dinner and then breakfast the next morning. The bread was Gaetanos signature sesame roll, which added a nice little something extra to my Italian sandwich. It was stuffed to the gills with lightly breaded eggplant, mozzarella cheese and sauce. The eggplant was cooked to perfection. It was still soft but the breading gave it a nice crispness. I doubt they'd deliver to Philly, but I will keep them in mind when I'm ever in South Jersey craving an eggplant parm. read more

Let me just say my husband absolutely loves this place. It's on his way home from work and we usually order out on Friday's and if he is in the mood for a cheese steak he starts talking about this pls e on Monday lol. He loves their chicken steak with fried onions. He says they are so good he doesn't need cheese just the fried onions. They are served on a seeded bun which he also says is awesome. I ha e had their regular beef cheese steak and while it was good quality I ordered the one with cheese whiz which I wouldn't do again. Next time I want one I will try regular American cheese or provolone and I may even do the chicken cheese steak since he raves over it so much. Their Jersey steaks remind me of the overstuffed steak, pepper, onion steak sauce and french fry sandwiches we used the get off the trucks at Rutgers on the early 70's. The pizza is delicious.
