We were visiting from Nola, and a local recommended the Gas house. We were skeptical when we saw the place, but it was surprisingly good! The service was excellent. We sat on the back patio area, which was very pleasant. Quite an interesting selection of wild game choices. We had a Bison ribeye and some appetizers. Everything was really good. read more

Here for relaxation time . From Texas , Dallas. Went to Gashouse upon recommendation from. Hotel. We arrived , the place was nice rustic restaurant. We ordered the Game Sampler and Crab cakes. The sampler platter was ok! Elk was cooked Rare I asked for medium. Very tough but tasty. The Baked Potatoe was cold Quail was tasty and Bison Sausage was good. Service was not really what I call great but was a young lady that seemed to be more concerned with happenings in the restaurant. Food was served from the Kitchen I guess. Other tables were getting Bread and butter before out meal? The Crab cakes well was told they are the best it Colorado???// HMMMMMM? LOL. Overall rating I would just say ok. Was confused about the wide variance in ratings about this restaurant so I thought I'd have to check it out myself. After reading the negative reviews and experiencing the food, I think I have it figured out. If you're a Karen and the site of taxidermy offends your tender vegan sensibilities... don't eat here. If you're a normal omnivorous human being, you need to eat here. Excellent variety of domesticated and wild natural protein sources done well. Apps were great, especially the Atlantic oysters. All 6 entries were great as were the 3 desserts we had. Cannot understand the negative reviews of service. It was excellent without being obtrusive. I stopped in here for dinner with my fiance after reading about the game meat they have on the menu. We ordered the game platter to share and we're so excited to have quail, elk, jackalope and bison sausage. We sat outside on their patio and enjoyed their nice shade and quick refills on water. Our waitress was so friendly and quick to help is which was fantastic. The food was also well done and tasty. Our elk did come out a bit rare for us, however they took it back and quickly seared it a bit more for us which we greatly appreciated. Definitely recommend a stop in! read more

We had lunch. What a great surprise to have fresh oysters on the half shell for appetizers in Colorado. Service was fantastic. Oysters were unbelievably tasty. The only complaint is, I had the Maryland crab cakes but unfortunately it only comes one per order at $19.99. I would increase that to $25.99, but have two to an order. If that was my only complaint that this is a great restaurant to stop and eat at. And in the summertime I definitely recommend sitting on the patio. read more

We canceled our reservation 7 hours ahead of time, but they felt entitled enough to call us and let us know that they were "disappointed" in our actions... they should have a better solution for understanding when clients need to cancel. I had called to make a reservation because there were going to potentially be more than 6 of us and I wasn't sure if the other two that were going to join our party were going to make it or not. When I called Cindy answered the phone and was anything but pleasing. I told her I was calling to make a reservation, explained the situation and she abruptly says she's needs to know exactly how many people were going to be there because they were really limited on seating capacity. I explained the situation to her again and she "agh'd" and than said "I'll just put you down for 8. When we got their we still weren't sure if the other 2 were going to show up, but they did after we ordered. When we sat down we were 1 of 3 tables. 3! In the whole restaurant that were there! It took 20 minutes for our server to get our drink order and then another 20 to bring our drinks. We realized with how long he was taking that we needed to order as soon as we brought our drinks or our food might never come. Once we got our food he never came back until after we were done. One of my kids got sick right after eating his meal and another got sick 10 minutes after we left, they both had the kids burgers. The rest of us all have had stomach aches. I understand COVID, but when you only have 3 tables in the whole restaurant at the time that we were there you better be on your A+++ game and this place was on their F--- game. read more

We were exactly 11 min late to our 5:30 reservation because we missed the turn. We had confirmed our reservations 2 hrs prior. When we arrived the hostess had an exceptionally rude tone and said "we cancelled your reservations because you were 15 min late". I pointed out that it was not yet 15 min and only 5:41. she said "I can have Adam or Andy explain it to you". We waited for 4 min for him to say "we cancelled your reservations because you were 15 min late." I pointed out that it was NOW 15 min after our reservation because we had waited for him and he points to the clock and says"looks like 15 min to me. I suggest next time you arrive on time." They were incredibly rude and unprofessional. Unforgiving and unaccommodating. There was no one waiting. Let's support other local restaurants who treat people with respect. read more

The hand breaded chicken is really good. The staff are very polite. The atmosphere is very earthy. There are so many mounted animal heads that some of the stuffed animal heads hang over the dining table. read more

Ordered the 8 oz wagyu steak, chicken alfredo, and cajun shrimp to-go. The steak was cooked perfectly, the alfredo seems like a reliable bet, and the shrimp was flavorful and juicy. They forgot our side order of fries, but other than that I enjoyed my meal - even the small side of vegetables that came with the entrees was tasty! I can't give it the full five-stars because of our missing item, but if you have a little extra cash to spare, the Gashouse is certainly worth it. read more

I have never written a negative restaurant review before but unfortunately must do one for our experience tonight which is the worst experience I have ever had. I want to start by saying our family of six with our grownup children had cocktails, appetizers, main courses dessert and a bottle of wine. We spent $450. Despite the fact that our food was overcooked and not good quality, we did not send anything back and did not complain about anything the entire evening. We had a waitress who was lovely and did not rush us in any way. In fact, when we tried to order our main courses at the same time as our appetizers she said she wanted to come back to take that order and after our dinner, she asked if we wanted dessert and brought us menus and took our order. However, when we were finishing up our dessert and wine after being at the restarant for just an hour and forty-five minutes another waitress came over and demanded that we pay our bill immediately and informed us that we had been making the wait staff stay because we were lingering over our dinner and that we needed to pay and leave. We informed her that our cab was coming to pick us up in about twenty minutes and we did not want to stand out in 20 degree weather. She said the restaurant had been closed since 9:00 and it was now 9:45. We informed her no one had ever mentioned to us the restaurant closed at 9:00 and we were so sorry to keep them but we had no idea and they should have told us when they took the reservation for 8:00pm that the restaurant closed at 9. At that point she exploded saying that an hour is standard for a meal and that we were taking much longer than normal. When we disagreed that an hour was standard for a dinner with three courses, cocktails and wine especially one that cost $450, she started verbally attacking us with personal insults. She absolutely crossed a line even if we had been customers who complained and sent items back which we did not. Unbelievable to have such an upsetting experience at a restaurant, especially one for which we had to pay so much money. To sum it up, if you want a good dining experience, definitely DO NOT go to the Gashouse. read more

My better half and his ski buddies have been coming to this place for years so we decided to try it all together when we had a mixed singles and couples ski trip. The place is charming, in that old Western/ski town sort of way. Our server was very purpose even though we told him most of us had already been there before. The prices are average to slightly high for being near a resort town, but not being right at the base of the mountain. There are several mixed grill platters for roughly $32 to $35 that include a 4 ounce filet of a game meat, a 4 to 5 ounce sausage, and then some braised short ribs along with a vegetable and a starch. Not a terrible price but not a value either. One of the folks in our group always orders the large size crab dip au gratin which is supposed to be a bubbly hot, cheesy lump crabmeat dip served with toasted bread. This time when it came out it was warm but not bubbly and not brown and it seemed like it was less rich than in the past. Also it was served with Ritz crackers as opposed to toasted French bread. They are definitely trying to save money there and our friend was not very happy that it had changed so much. It did have quite large chunks of crab, however for $30 and given the past positive history of the dish it was disappointing this time. The venison chili was very spicy and rich. A very small cup for six or seven dollars but was not too overpriced since game meat can be much more expensive than beef. The braised bison short ribs were very tasty, however they were certainly not warm enough and we were lucky no one got ill. The french fries were a little limp and light in color although they did have good flavor. The bison platter was good. The four ounce tenderloin was very well charred and had a nice outer crust, the short ribs were cool but very tasty with a delicious sauce that was savory and not too thick and went well with the wild rice. The Jackelope sausage was very spicy, just as described, and nicely crisped on the grill but not dry. The strange item on the plate was a ratatouille, which also was not hot enough and was very limp and mushy. Think the gas has started to run out at the Gas House. read more

Wanted to like the place for its history and rustic charm. But the food was terrible. Ordered a Buffalo rib eye and twice baked potatoe along with an iceberg wedge salad. Wife had the same salad and the trout. First sign of concern was that we were the only table seated on a summer season Saturday night around 8 pm. Second was when our salads arrived about 10 seconds after we ordered. The plate literally held a wedge of the iceberg surrounded by little piles of the other ingredients dumped on the plate. Sort of "make your own" salad kit. There was a small cup of dressing included, keeping in the "make your own" theme,but not enough to cover the leaves. The lettuce was fresh enough but the pile of tiny bacon bits felt like they were left over from breakfast somewhere. The rib eye was tough and arrived lukewarm. I could not tell if it had been grilled, seared or warmed upon a microwave. Simply not worth the $39 charged for it I'd "upgraded" to the twice baked potato. I'm pretty sure it was frozen and then heated in a microwave. Not worth the up charge at all. My wife loves trout but her dish was flavorless and the meat tough. Neither of us finished our portions. Our waiter was attentive and fun, really the only bright spot in the evening but part of our discussion was about other good places to eat nearby. Helpful information to be sure but not a ringing endorsement of the place. Cannot recommend. read more

5 stars for the best customer service in town. All the staff were very friendly and greeted us with smiles. A lot of restaurants in town should take their servers here to learn what real customer service is and take notes. The people that work here are so warm and welcoming and 100% genuine. As far as the food goes, I would come back here just for the "sausage sampler". Aesthetics wise- very cool/log cabin/western/deer hunter theme inside, worthy of photo ops inside and out. Outside they continued the rustic cabin theme with romantic lights, which is stunning at night. read more

I've been giving The Gashouse second chances for years now, thinking that it would get better. I ordered the ribs, they looked and tasted about two weeks old just sitting in the walk-in getting dry and hard. They Warmed them up on the grill which made them even drier and more like a beef jerky texture. They drenched them in BBQ sauce trying to hide what a disgraceful and disgusting rack of ribs they are. Save yourself the $30 and buy them at City market for $10, they are actually eatable. read more

A group of 5 of us came to Edwards for the week to snowboard. We've ate at several restaurants, and this is by far the best service and meal we've had. The food was fantastic and we all left overly satisfied and didn't spend near the money we have at others. The service was FANTASTIC. We thought "bad service" was a Colorado thing, but this proved that wrong. Tim took care of us and took the time to go over the menu and explain all the specials. Food came out quick and we never went without drinks in our cup. He was friendly and the entire staff worked fast- tables didn't sit with dirty plates from the other customers for longer than a minute. The service was top notch and what we had expected from the 5 star restaurants. Extremely clean facility great atmosphere and in our opinion the best restaurant in Edwards. read more

The buffalo ribeye med rare is amazing! It was very lean but with perfect marbling. We also tried the elk tenderloin it was really really good. This is the cleanest restaurant I've seen since we've been in vail. Really recommend all the staff are very friendly too! read more

One of the few times that Yelpers let me down... The Gashouse was Americana kitchy, with its log cabiny wild game decor. The restaurant was not at all busy when we visited yet the staff we interacted with seemed to be in a hurry. Lots of wild game menu items, and you'll pay a pretty penny for them. As a hunter myself I didn't feel like paying for an elk burger or elk steak. With that said, we were rather underwhelmed by the menu. Ended up ordering the calamari at the suggestion of the server. Quite possibly the most boring calamari I've ever had. The batter tasted like straight flower, no spice, and they had a dull cardboard like crunch. Once we finished our calamari, beer and cocktail we bailed and went to Lark Burger across the street. read more

My wife and I went for our anniversary. We enjoyed a great dinner. We had excellent service by Christian. I would say it is important to know what you're going for. It is a very casual western restaurant feel with great food. This is not an upscale steakhouse feel. There was indoor seating and an outdoor patio which was relaxing and delightful. We found the steaks and food to be very good. My wife had the bacon-wrapped fillet; I had a angus ribeye. Sides were good. Finished with a wonderful locally baked apple pie. We recommend the Gashouse. Great place to have a nice but relaxing dinner at a local favorite. read more

They burnt my crabcake into a piece of charcoal, the staff look like they should have been working in a garage changing oil more than handling your food. The food at Red Lobster is 1000X better. I told the waiter about how burnt my crabcake was but he said it was normal. I feel sorry for whoever for people in the future who order these. Eating black burn food causes cancer.
