We came for happy hour yesterday and it was not busy when we arrived. Our waiter Jake was awful... came by and mid order he just walks away? Never checked on us never gave us silverware. The other waitress took care of us because he was no where to be found. We love coming here but he really ruined the experience yesterday. It almost seemed like we were a burdon for him.

My dining partner and I visited on a whim. We were fortunate to get a table at lunchtime on a Saturday on the water! Very nice. We also had some delicious food. 1. Soam Masubi. This delicious roll is a very unique item here in Tampa. Sweet, savory, and well presented. If you like spam it's a must have 2. Philly roll. Very flavorful and d filling, and the cream cheese was served slightly warm. Absolutely perfect 3. A delicious salmon sandwich (minus the bacon). Sweet, creamy and fresh. 4. The longboard burger with fries. Definitely with it. Perfect combo of bbq sauce, pork, bacon, a burger and toppings. 5. A pineapple upside down cake. Everything was extremely fresh. Some of the best pineapple I've ever had. Fresh sweet cream and delicious cake. Service is good. We had a service issue that was quickly resolved. Also wait times can be long for food BUT worth it, the food is outstanding. The view is remarkable. This is a hidden gem! Highly recommended!

    $1 Oysters!!

Had a great time Friday at Hula/Dukes. Ordered $1 oysters and my friends orders sushi, tempura chicken bites, encantos and the Thai lettuce wraps. Everything was great!

My friend & I wanted to chill and relax and watch the sunset . Pain Killer was 4/5. Lobster fries 3/5. Barely was any lobster on the fries? Maybe they should change it to a different type of seafood. Or charge a little bit more and add more lobster. Lobster definitely had a good flavor. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. We also did not have a long time to wait to be seated. If you want to sit outside, please make reservations ahead of time.

I am not sure what happened with this place! Our last experience was terrible! The baked oysters came cold and the cheese was not melted at all. The seafood Cajun pasta was also cold and was super super oily. I have never had a bad experience in this restaurant before and I have ordered these dishes multiple times. Not sure if they changed their chef or management or if it something else but won't be going there anytime soon.

I went there with a few friends for dinner...they also had Hawaiian dancers for entertainment..we were sat at 7 p.m. Service was super slow, I know it was busy being a Saturday but we waited 20 minutes after we were seated until someone can over to us and then we were served ..Mai Tai and Hurricane did not disappoint. Ordered an appetizer Spicy Shrimp, they were very good and crunchy. It was 2 1/2 hours before we were served dinner...super slow service...food arrived hot and fresh...ordered Teriyaki Chicken and was quite disappointed since it was spicy and almost inedible, never had hot Teriyaki Chicken Bowl ....very strange..does not say anywhere that it is spicy..wanted to try his place and now I did..Valet parked the car which was a plus...way too long for dinner...we were not in a hurry but living farther away, we started our evenong at 5 pm and got home at 11:30 quite a long time for a dinner out..

Now the food and atmosphere were pretty good, no real complaints there. The lack of service was a killer to a Friday Happy Hour vibe... inattentive to most everyone around the bar area (with the apparent exception of the managers friends) the staff seemed unenthusiastic at best and were witnessed to use less than acceptable attitudes towards their jobs, kept chemical cleaning products mixed in on the taps in the bar area, etc... but the bottom line for providing a low star review was the absolute standoffish attitude and lack of service by the BAR STAFF when it wasn't even that busy...

    MAHI MAHI SLIDERS

Location is a work in progress due to the surrounding construction but the water views are nice. There is plenty of parking around the place if not directly in the parking lot. They have a large space, plenty of staff and a menu that is sure to have what you need. I had the mahi tuna sliders which are Very filling considering there are 3, but not too much flavor. I also ordered a side of the famous fries, which were ok but I wasn't overly impressed. Our waitress Christine was super kind, efficient and knowledgeable. The music playing over head was great and they even had live music "downstairs" which was a nice touch.

Overall **** Hula Bay/Dukes is a confusing combination of spaces and I sort of think when people talk about it they actually mean Duke's. This review is for Duke's although Hula looked very nice and might come back to try that next. Duke's itself was about the perfect combination of being outside but not getting burnt to a crisp in the sun while enjoying music and good food as one could ask for. I could happily spend many a weekend afternoon there. (10/19/25) Setting **** Technically Hula Bay (slightly more upscale) is the upstairs restaurant and Duke's (more dive bar) is the downstairs restaurant. There is very little parking and you may see when you pull in cars parked on the side of the road but don't worry they have complimentary valet parking. If you choose not to drive then apparently you can pull your boat up to their dock as well. If you are going to Hula Bay then yes you will need to walk up the long ramp and then if you are going to Duke's you then need to walk down a very steep ramp but there is a shortcut to Duke's. Forget the long ramp and go off to the right of it and you will walk right into Duke's. Duke's itself is a mostly well covered open-air bar dominated by a square bar (the best kind) and high-top tables. There are some regular height tables and booths beyond the bar. One minor note, the booths are vinyl and you will sweat sitting on them. Additionally there is outside seating on the deck but not a lot of it. There are plenty of TV's around for sports however I do not believe they have the NFL Ticket but I did see RedZone playing. Duke's is a very casual beach vibe bar where dogs are welcomed. On Sunday for lunch they had a live Reggie band playing and shockingly the volume was wasn't intrusive but just about right. The biggest issue, which I removed a Star over is there aren't any bathrooms downstairs. You have to go up and down the aforementioned ramp to Hula Bay. Service **** The hostess said it was her first day and she was a little lost. I had my 82 year old mother-in-law (MIL) with me who cannot sit at a high top. The hostess had no idea what I meant when I we needed a regular height table, not a high top. I shouldn't even mention this because she was new and very sweet but it suggests very little training goes on. There were some minor hiccups with our server Amanda P but overall she was pleasant, was able to answer questions with ease and seemed proud of the restaurant. Food **** Our two burgers ordered medium rare came out med well but that was the only real fault I could find. I took a chance with their "Loco Moco" which is sort of a crazy Salisbury steak thing. It is a burger over a fried coconut rice cake, topped with brown gravy, topped with a fried egg! They say is a Hawaiian comfort food staple, I say it was delicious and highly recommend it. My wife and MIL enjoyed their burger served with potato wedges instead of fries. I thought the wedges were a nice change and tasted like they make them in house instead of frozen. They also ordered the very large Chicken Chopped Salad which they didn't have room after the burger so I finished it off. Although a little light on chicken it had tons of other toppings on it and I nearly finished it, yes, I have a problem. One downside was I felt like the drink pour was light. Value **** Within reason and overall they offer some pretty good value but not all of the pricing structure makes much sense to me. Draft beer = $7, good Top shelf gin = $9, good Pina Colada = $12, eh Burger = $15, great Loco Moco = $15, great Chicken Salad = $21, yikes! Diet Coke = $3.50, yikes! The total for three before tip was $100.

    Shrimp scampi

Amazing experience here! I went out a few nights with a few friends and had a wonderful experience. I had the shrimp scampi and it was PHENOMENAL. The service was also impeccable. The waitress was nice and attentive. I also love the location. We decided to sit outside and the views of the water were great. We were even able to see a few fish with the deck lighting. Super cool.

Excited to try this place since we're usually regulars at Salt Shack. Place was pretty empty but it had gorgeous views and fun vibes. Drinks were good (frozen pina colada!!) but service was extremely slow. Food took at least 30-35 min even though there weren't many people there. Our waitress was super friendly but didn't seem to have much urgency in getting us our food. Wings as apps took a half hour and we were freezing cold sitting inside by the time our dinner showed up. Sushi was yummy except small portions for the price. Maybe a drink at their outside bar next time will be a lot better!

Shrimp breaded in coconut, macadamia nuts, and almonds. Garlic mashed potatoes and french fries.

The shrimp was yummy. Key lime pie more like a thick cheesecake than a pie. Lava cake wasn't special or warm. Asked for butter for garlic mash and the server brought a weird butter sauce rather than real butter.

Good food and friendly service. The boom boom shrimp appetizer is yummy and the presentation of the food is appreciated.

Didn't need all the micro greens for garnish on top but this could be overlooked because taste and flavor was amazing. The tuna tartare was super tasty as well and I would definitely order this again same comment for micro greens on this dish - didn't need this and found myself moving it off the dishes to actually enjoy the item. The two not so favorite dishes for me were the fried rice topped with fried chicken. While chicken was very tasty the rice was extremely basic. Could have used eggs or other ingredients to elevate this dish. Also the Volcano roll was extremely disappointing. Normally the volcano topping is cooked or (torched) and this topping was cold and very unappetizing. Would not recommend this roll. Overall this place is a hit or miss. Food is terrible - they even forgot the egg as a part of my ramen and brought me a frozen egg when I mentioned the missing item which was disgusting. Octopus is so tough and chewy. Terribly cooked from frozen. Mango sticky rice is absolutely horrendous. Nothing like what you expect. Temperature is terrible - they don't use A/C so it's incredibly hot and humid in restaurant. We also love Hyde Park and it's just so nice to walk around that area before or after your meal. We started off with cocktails -- I went with the pomelo (nikka coffey gin, aperol, grapefruit, szechuan peppercorn) and she got the shinshun (sparkling sake, yuzu extract, & honey). We both really enjoyed our drinks. For appetizers, we shared the wagyu gyoza and I also got a couple pieces of nigiri -- Hokkaido Hotate (scallop) and the otoro (fatty tuna belly). Yum! We both ordered sushi rolls (maki) for our mains. I got the Ro signature roll which has spicy tuna, avocado, and hamachi. My sis got the classic tempura shrimp roll topped with crispy potato chips which was a nice twist. We definitely got our sushi fix! The end of every meal comes with a complimentary sweet surprise and I'm so glad we saved just enough room for dessert. They make their own ice cream in-house and have fun rotating flavor combinations. I can't remember the exact flavor we had, but it had a passion fruit ganache on top with some crumble topping and it was phenomenal! Some of the best ice cream I've ever had. That alone is worth going back for.
