Popped in for a quick sugar grab while my husband wrangled the kids back to the car after lunch at Teller's. The space is super clean, cute, and calm--folks quietly chatting or working on laptops gave it a nice low-key vibe. There were so many gorgeous treats, I basically panic-pointed at a few and hoped for the best. Walked out with a fruit tart, lemon tart, chocolate cookie, and a chocolate pig (because how could I not?). The cookie didn't even survive the drive out of the garage--family approved all around. Surprise favorite: the lemon tart. I'm usually a fruit tart girly, but that tangy lemon curd and cloud of meringue stole the show. The chocolate pig was fun but a bit rich for me--dark shell, milk chocolate mousse filling--but my husband and toddler were big fans. (They're still mad I didn't get the bunny too.) Would I go out of my way to come back? Probably not. But if I'm nearby and need a little sugar fix? 100% stopping in again. Solid 4 stars for the quick, sweet detour.

Double chocolate cookie with pecans and a Latte

Took a break from my workday to meet with a colleague for coffee. The inside of the restaurant is so cute! There was plenty of seating and a nice selection of pastries. I had a latte and a double chocolate cookie with pecans. The cookie was so good - try it heated up! The two ladies working the counter were friendly and helpful.

So I decided to give the Gilded Acorn another shot. Because I was in the area trying Naijia Wife Kitchen and wanted a desert to take home. Well I didn't get that desert. There were 2 employees. 1 assisting another patron and 1 starting into space. No joke I stood looking at the deserts for about 5-10 minutes and then walked to the register by employee 2 to stand there for awhile to not be acknowledged. Is there a dress code here? I was dress casually but still. Are employees told to pretend patrons are not in the store? Am I actually a ghost? Do they not pay employees a fair wage? Is management toxic? I don't get it. I'm usually understanding to a fault. This is just baffling. I can only assume that something is going on internally either with pay or management or both that has led to complete lack of care from employees. This place could serve diamonds for the price of coal and I'd still not recommend it. Find the root cause of the issue and fix it.. The bare minimum requirements for a patron to spend money in a product based establishment is the ability to select products and pay for them. This is not possible if employees ignore patrons. Employees don't have to be kind or even nice. They could say "what you want", "you going to buy something?" Even just staring customers down until they order would be better that what is going on here which was a complete lack of acknowledgement. Seriously if they have a dress code or something they should tell people or post it on the door. Anyway I won't be back. Even if I'm paid to go.

The espresso was wonderful.. I got a criffin, lemon Sorbet and chocolate- hazelnut ice cream. All of the item were delicious!! Let's talk about the espresso (americano) , it was literally the best one I had in awhile. It was smooth and earthy. I added the lavender syrup it was so good. It's wasn't too sweet which I appreciated.

I'm doing this review purely on our high tea experience. Honestly I would have given it a 3.5 but that's not an option and I didn't feel like it deserved a 3. Price and service is what drops my score from a 5 to a 4. I have to say our tea was so good, definitely recommend getting the chai. It is a beautifully spiced chai. Giving each person steamed milk was a nice touch. Our tray of salmon, egg salad, and chicken salad bites were very good, as well as the desert tray. Everything was aesthetically appealing! From our tea set to the trays of food. Place was nice, clean, and bright. Now to the reason for my score. High tea is $45 per person plus tax and tip so we paid $60 person. Even though everything was good, I don't think what we received justified the price. There is only one special area with a cute green sofa and chandelier. Otherwise your having your high tea at the normal tables with the wicker type chair. Secondly, we were delivered our items and then no one ever came back to check up on us. It would have been nice if they came to see if we needed anything, refill on water or to reheat our milk that went cold fast. A little more attention from the staff for those that have reserved this experience would be nice. Even though I'm highly unlikely to do it again. I will come back for a tea and patisserie in the future.

This café is so chic. It's downtown Oklahoma City located inside the historic first national hotel. The inside is very clean and modern. You have to find street parking. All the pastries look gorgeous. Definitely a good spot to meet someone.

Brand new restaurant from our favorite chef, Chef Andrew Black. If you've been to Grey Sweater or Black Walnut, you may have experienced his finesse with food. Well, he's partnered with La Baguette to offer another patisserie and eatery that is just as good as all his other endeavors. It's beautiful outside and inside. Light, airy and elegant ambiance but I can see this easily getting crowded on a weekend. It's located inside the First National Center building. We had the following- Chocolate Cruffin Cheesecake Rum Cruffin Pain au chocolate Cinnamon Roll All of them were good. Surprisingly, we liked the Cheesecake Cruffin cold rather than warm. Cruffin is a cross between a croissant and muffin or maybe it's a croissant in the shape of a muffin? We also had the Egg Salad Sandwich. It came on a croissant with lettuce and tomato. Nice. Lastly, let's talk about their French dip sandwich. I'm not a big turkey person but since I was caught up in conversation, she ordered the Turkey sandwich. It came on a baguette with tomato, lettuce, chipotle, provolone an pickled onions. Served on the sauce was a bowl of au jus. Hands down the best turkey sandwich that I've eaten! (I've only eaten a few in my life but I REALLY enjoyed this one.) My wife preferred it without the au jus because she didn't think the beef flavor meshed well with the turkey. I personally thought it was great with the dip. Dip or no dip- I recommend ordering the turkey sandwich and all the other delectables here. Short menu but very well thought out. Finished it all off with a latte. We'll be back!

Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Restaurant is worth trying!! I recommend going at an off time because it was packed!! There's an option to do half a sandwich. The menu doesn't disclose that you can only do that on cold sandwiches. That's nice they do that but if you wait in line 25 mins with your menu item in mind but they won't do the halvsie thing it's frustrating. Especially since the sandwiches are mostly all over $14. So then you have to make a split second decision and order something else you sorta wanted but not really. I say that bc I originally wanted a hot sandwich but I can't eat a whole one. When they wouldn't let me do that with the half of a sandwich I decided to try to do that with the Bruce, which was the monthly special turns out I couldn't do that either. All in all it was a great experience and I liked my sandwich. My wife LOVED hers. We will definitely be back!! Wifey tip: order water to drink. They don't have soda on fountain so you pay $4 for bottled stuff you buy at On Cue. Not worth it.

They also wouldn't heat up the savory bun, which was disappointing. It would've been much better warm, but the cashier said no and clearly didn't care. Service was speedy, but our cashier was unfriendly. The coffee was overpriced and too sweet, and it needed stirring--but you can't stir it with the boba lid. There seems to be a lot of variety at first glance, but if you look closely, it's mostly the same bread--lots of red bean. On the plus side, there's lots of natural light and plenty of seating (at least when it's not busy). Overall, a bit disappointed. The prices lured us in, but this won't be a routine stop for us. I ordered the Cuban panini with a side of Parmesan-encrusted button mushrooms. It's so hard to find anything close to Cuban bread, but this wasn't bad, and the panini was toasted nicely. There's only one problem: This isn't a Cuban sandwich. It's ham and turkey with pickles. I'll point the finger at myself for not looking at the menu closer. A Cuban HAS to be roast pork and ham, and the meat shouldn't be cold. I know this isn't Miami, but stop trying to pass this off as something it's not. As for the Parmesan-encrusted mushrooms, you might expect some bit of crust or breading with Parmesan. Nope. These were sautéed mushrooms with a glop of Parmesan (not entirely sure it wasn't Swiss) in the middle. If you wanted both, you had to get a mushroom, then bite off a bit of the no longer melted cheese. I'm not going to tell anyone not to come here. As ham and turkey paninis go, it was OK. But I can't help but think if they're trying to pass things off as something they're not, what else might not be as it seems?
