We checked out Git Out for dinner. They have indoor and outdoor seating with an interesting interior that will keep you finding new gems while you sip a drink. They also have parking available, so you don't have to worry about finding curbside parking or walking far. The staff were super nice and provided great suggestions for food and drinks. They checked on us constantly and were very attentive. We all enjoyed our cocktails and the bartenders gave great recommendations based on our preferences. The food was delicious. We had the Trash Frys and it was huge! It was definitely filling for us 2. The fries were still crispy even with all the goodies on top. The toppings were generously distributed and delicious! The highlight of the meal was definitely the Green Chili Mac & Cheese Bowl with smoked brisket. Mac and cheese is my favorite food so I was thrilled to find this gem. It was so cheesy and gooey and flavorful, even as leftovers! This in itself earned Git Out 5 stars! The drinks, food, and ambience all created a great environment to get dinner with friends!

5th time at one of my favorite spots in Austin. Casey, the bartender always takes care of me on Sundays with Espolón skinny margaritas. I tried to be a stupid skinny Bish and not order tator tots with my burger since I had a heavy breakfast. Casey asked me how my Brussel sprouts were and I told him I wasn't satisfied. He immediately took the plate away and assured me the Mac and cheese would satisfy me. The burgers are phenomenal and the Mac and cheese is decedent. I normally order the tots, although I was so excited I didn't tonight to enjoy the Mac and cheese. Whoa! What amazing flavor! Our main man Casey knows how to do espresso martinis as well. I'm in love with this place

Food: 3/5 The Git Out has a solid bar food menu, but doesn't deliver on what you'd hope to get after ordering. The brisket burger was over cooked and dry even though we requested medium when they asked us how we would like it. For a $25 meal this really wasn't worth it, but passable for bar food. Service: 3/5 Ordering everything from the bar is always a bit of a drag, but be ready to have your hands full by getting your own menu, silverware, table marker, condiment cart, and water on your way to finding your own table. There is no wait staff here even during dinner service. The bartenders are very friendly however! Environment: 5/5 Great patio, tons of parking, and cool bar design!

A dive bar that I did not expect to have a plethora of beer options and just amazing quality food made to order. We were not disappointed and willing to visit again when we are in the area. The bathroom is super clean too so I know they take care of their kitchen. A real treat and a must try if you have not. The staff was super friendly and accommodating especially when we had our 2 year old run around like he owned the place. I appreciate you guys!!!!

We stumbled upon this place while in south Austin. Interesting concept for decor and restaurant. Walk in, grab table # and menu, pick a seat, and order at the bar. We ordered cocktails and food and it arrived very quickly! The owner even came by the table to give us some recommendations and to check on our meal. The trash fries were everything. Get the brisket on top! SOoo good. The Brussels sprouts and Texas burger were also very good. I'd definitely recommend this place. They even have a small outdoor patio. One bartender seemed like she didn't want to be there, but the guy bartender was super nice and attentive.

Came here on a Wednesday evening and the place was relatively empty. We opted to sit outside and there were only maybe 2 other parties total that sat near us at any point so it made the experience pretty quaint and chill. The menu was pretty diverse, but the Dinner and a Movie salad seemed interesting and ultimately was a fantastic deal - huge and good portion size. The dressing interestingly didn't come automatically tossed with the salad so we had to go up and ask for some on the side, but the flavor of the dressing was pretty delicious so in the end it wasn't terrible. The wings had nice flavor, but the fact that they're described as jumbo on the menu was definitely misleading. They tasted good nonetheless, it's just they didn't live up to their description for sure. The fries were great - super flavorful and plentiful. Definitely would recommend! Overall, I enjoyed my dinner and would love to come back if I'm ever in the area. Thanks, Git Out!

Stopped in here on a Wednesday afternoon for an early dinner. First time visiting for us. All the service was done at the bar, since it was early on a week night, there were no other wait staff. We had a Solo Burger and the Smoked Carnitas Tacos. The Solo Burger came with an egg and pork belly bacon on it. Absolutely delicious! The side of tater tots were crispy with just the right amount of salt. Can't go wrong with good tots and a great burger. I also had a beer, but can't remember the name of it. Sunny something. Light, fruity and perfect for an early dinner drink. The Smoke Carnitas Tacos looked good, and I'm told they were good, but I didn't try them. Next time we're around there, we'll have to stop back in for another drink and some food.

We were in town for the day/night and decided to stop here because it was close by our hotel. BEST DECISION EVER. We had the pleasure of the chef, Joel, being our server at the bar. He was amazing and didn't steer us wrong for one choice. Helped us make our decisions too because everything sounded so damn good. The other bartenders/servers were very friendly as well. For starters we got the potato puffs. BOMB AF. Dinner I got the birria tacos and my fiancé got the phatty melt with waffles fries. Let me tell you - they DO NOT play with these portion sizes. Joel let me know the birria is a 3-day process and mannnnnnnnn it is worth it I'm drooling right now thinking about it. I saw the green Chile Mac and cheese bowl on the menu and knew I could not leave town without it. So we got it to go - I can speak on it yet because we haven't had it but I know it's going to be amazing. We will for sure be back next time we are in Austin. Very chill and welcoming atmosphere. Has basketball on which was a plus too.

I liked the mixed drink (started with a C) and the Phatty Melt. But I didn't like the Trash Fries - something about them was off - maybe the dairy products. I ended up throwing them away. I also got sick after eating here. You order at the bar and are supposed to clear your own table. Pretty loud. More of a bar scene than what I would consider a good restaurant.

If I could I would give this place 10 stars . You grab a number head to the counter place your order and seat yourself . I ordered the fried chicken with crispy Brussels sprouts and tots . I'm not joking when I say the food came out before I could take a sip of water . The service was excellent and fast! The chicken was hot crispy and juicy . The Brussels sprouts were amazing . I have to try this place again. I wish they were down near San Antonio. But it's worth the drive back up. I met the owners , and manager chef Joel. Both were very welcoming.

The SoSoCo area had a new great place. It's a family restaurant with a great bar. Dogs welcome too! A much needed addition to South SOCO. We have great bars in the area but they fail at certain things. The Git Out excels in every aspect. Ample parking, large comfy patio, bar & tables inside. The bar has vast options & the bartenders are always on the ball. Drinks are strong & made properly. The food here is the highlight. I've had mostly keto things (which is easy here!) I've tasted most menu items. The empanadas are crazy good. Tacos are excellent, fish & smoked carnitas are our favorites. Burgers above average but missing some seasoning to be great. Sliders are the size of most places burgers. The carnivore plate for two is my favorite. A hungry guy can eat it alone but for most normal humans it feeds 2-3. Well done bbq. All well priced! The decor is clean & much classier than the Rusty Trombone or Lil Darling's. Not fine dining but not a dive. Burt runs a good show. read more

This place is a terrific unknown secret that should be a common go to location. The food is excellent and priced very reasonably. The nachos could be a meal in itself. The burgers are huge and amazing. And the tacos will not disappoint. This is a local spot that deserves city-wide recognition. read more

First time here so we didn't know what to expect. All we knew is that my girlfriends and I wanted a big fat juicy burger and a cold beer and that's exactly what we got our server was a bit impatient with us at first but then he kinda warmed up to us when we told it was our first time. We ordered a cocktail and it was Tito's summertime fling.... Delicious. My friends ordered beer and it was nice and cold. Overall it was a great experience and would definitely go back whenever I'm visiting Austin. read more

We're from Galveston, escaped from Hurricane Laura, found this place. Absolute a gem of a place food was amazin as well as the staff, Ben the bartender. We got to meet Tony & Rena, owners they were fabulous. The real interesting thing was they have some fine spirits, I had the 25yr old Pappy Van Winkler Bourbon not to mention many other fine spirits. If you have the chance to stop by you should, again a hidden gem 4 sure! read more

For me, the reason I keep coming back is the food! Every item is fabulous. They actually have a chef that can make GOOD bar food! Those veggie empanadas are flaky and amazing. And the Trashy fries are legit. Burgers are delicious too. The cocktails are really good as well, not too syrupy and sweet. Really refreshing. read more

We really enjoyed our first and certainly not last visit here. The staff was friendly and the food was on point. We found ordering a bit awkward as we had to get noticed thru the bar crowd in order to place an order. A designated ordering counter would perhaps clarify this minor detail. Both of our burgers were tasty despite being cooked closer to medium well rather than the medium rare that was ordered. We will be back. read more

The food here is good but they seriously need to rework how you order. At the bar, wedged between seats, tables & the entrance, I always end up having to awkwardly hover for a minute or two, breathing down someone's neck trying to put my order in while the bartender is doing whatever else. Considering they don't have a dedicated cash register / counter area, some kind of QR menu tie-in letting patrons order from their table would go a long way. read more

Wow, what a fabulous new addition to S. Congress Ave. I kept hearing rumors this place was the bomb. Being a Southie myself I had to check it out. The 3 of us rolled in Friday evening about 7:30. The parking lot was packed. Luckily we found a place around the side. Thanks for the lights. Us girls hate walking in a dark parking lot. We settled in at a table to take a look at the menu. I had heard they had really great food and with so many great choices, it was hard to decide. We started with the potato puffs and Fish tacos. OMG they were sooooo awesome! Fried chicken and brussels sprouts followed. Now, my grandma can fry some chicken but this almost puts her's to shame. it was Crisp and juicy with tons of flavor. The brussels sprouts had just the right amount of Sriracha. Just a bit of heat but not painful. At the recommendation of one of the bartenders, my friend tried the BLT. Pork belly, lettuce & tomato sandwich. It tasted like we were sitting around a backyard barbecue, it was just that good. The bartender said they smoke the brisket and pork at night and bring it in fresh every day. I can't remember whether it had pickles and onions on it or not but I was so mesmerized at the flavor of the pork belly I can't remember what else was on the sandwich. The cocktails were yummy. The staff very attentive. The decor very nice. Such a great addition to South Austin. No $30 small plates (or frou frou food as we call it) here. There were people sitting outside on the deck with dogs. Lots of groups drinking beer. Quite a few taps on the wall. I'm not sure if they're kid friendly. It seems more of a bar that serves really good food and not the kind of place you want to bring a rambunctious three-year-old. We will most definitely make the Git Out a weekly spot to Git in!!!!!!!! read more

This is such a hidden gem I almost don't want to review it! Downtown was so busy in every nook and cranny in town with long wait times and crowds to fight. We found our way to The Git Out, which has been on our lists to visit for awhile - and this was the perfect night. There was no wait and we got sat right at the bar. Great beers, the dry rub wings were THE BEST & the bartenders were very friendly and welcoming. We found ourselves staying longer than we planned and planning our return visit back. Got great recommendations for other little spots we might like when we want to get away from the "popular spots" that draw in so many locals and tourists alike and couldn't be happier to grow our list of favorite spots in town... The Git Out is definitely my kind of hang out :) but again.... those wings.... read more

I guess it's just not my jam. All the cocktails I ordered were horrible. The margarita tasted like sugar water, and the Old Fashioned was too watered down. Maybe it's because they just opened. I'll have to return and give a second opinion. The only items they couldn't mess up were a glass of Malbec and a Sweet Vermouth shot. To be fair, the Texas Burger with brisket and waffle fries was really good! We ended up getting another one to split. read more

Yelp said open until midnight. We drove up 11:15 and door was locked. I was clearly taking a picture...when some nice (not nice) man walked out and said kitchen is closed but bar is open to midnight. But he lied because the door was locked. Totally uncool!!! read more

Great food, drinks, atmosphere, and service! They've got it all! We had a Tito's Mule in a copper Tito's cup (nice touch), a Texas burger with brisket on top of the patty, wings, and chips and queso. Everything we saw come out of the kitchen was another thing we wamted to try. Definitely will be returning! read more

Sooooo Glad I stopped in this neighborhood gem! Aside from their opening week incident with glass in my food in 2019, this place has been great. The food? Amazing. Drink selection? Not bad. The pork belly nachos make me feel something deep inside of me like that one time in college. Jk but this place really hits all the spots and has sports on the TVs. read more

We tried this place out and it was a awesome time! We walked in and it was packed, not many tables available. We didn't have to wait & were greeted immediately. Staff placed menus on a table for the 3 of us and advised how ordering works. Once we were ready head up to the bar or let anyone know and we could place our order. We ordered the green chili Mac and cheese with added pork belly: Amazing. I ordered the waffle O'Liscous sandwich that was brilliant corn bread waffle as the bread in between are two crunchy golden tenders w/ pico de gallo and tater tots. To drink I ordered Tho Solo margarita that was yummy! I also loved the Togo silverware was biodegradable. All in all had a great time and will definitely be back with more people! read more

The food was really good. My sweet tea wasnt the best but the food was good and that says a lot to me. The way you have to order the meals is a little stupid to have to go to the bar to order and risk losing your seat. I do not like that concept. read more

The set up was very different from your typical restaurant. You seat yourself, order at the bar once your ready, and the food is brought to your number. The food came out very quick and was super good. I highly recommend the fish tacos! read more

Not a big yelp reviewer but I'm writing this review to include the public in how good the food is at this bar and grill. Bar and grills in my experience are typically good at drinks and ok at food. However this new spot I've now visited 4 time is an amazing 100% on everything my wife and I have tried. This includes Carolina Gold wings, desert empanadas, chips salsa, queso, grilled cheese, black and blue burger, fried chicken, tater tots. Long story short the food here is killer so check it out. read more

I've been to two of the four Slider locations on 6th Street and the South Lamar one, and I've returned to the South Lamar location the most, so this is where the review is going. Their menu is pretty simple. You have an option between two, four, or twelve sliders, or one or two sliders with a side. I always opt for their "Weekend Getaway" with two sliders and fries. There are four sliders to choose from now. There used to be just two, but they've moved on up like Curtis Mayfield. The first is The Gringo with American cheese, smoky mayo, and pickles, and it's your basic slider. It's very sweet and goes down real easy. You eat one and could find yourself eating twelve. They're just a perfect traditional slider. I always gotta get a Gringo. The next of the two originals is the Vato, which is their original spicy slider. It has pepper jack cheese, hatch green chile ranch, and grilled jalapeños. It's moderately spicy, but it's not going to stop you in your tracks. I find it a good complement to the OG Gringo. The first of the two newer flavors is the Redneck, which is like a BBQ burger with American cheese, BBQ sauce, bacon, and fried onions. It's a strong flavor and it's definitely doing what it set out to do, but doesn't have that same immediate impact you get from the Gringo or the Vato. The final new addition is the Red Ass, a two-pepper-emoji threat not for the faint of heart. It has pepper jack cheese, fried jalapeño strings, and their evil spicy asshole sauce. It does not mess around. That sucker has a kick and will punch you in the face for looking at it funny. I love it though. Mix it with the Gringo and it's a combo of love and hate. It's endearing to have a slider that's sweet and lovely and one that feels evil at heart. I always get the fries as my side of choice, and they load me up with so many I always share some. They also slide me a smoky mayo sauce on the side for the fries. It's just excellence in a cup. If you're ever at St. Elmo, The Domain, 6th Street, or South Lamar, you gotta give JewBoy Sliders a chance and be amazed by how much flavor can be packed in their potato rolls. We hadn't been here in a little while (longer than I thought, really) mostly cause we do a lot of lunches. So many unique flavor combinations and uncommon ingredients have come together to make a truly unexpected "Sports-Bar Gourmet" experience. I visited this restaurant for dinner after arriving in town. Upon entering, there was a sign instructing guests to pick up a menu, take a table number, and have a seat anywhere before ordering at the bar when ready. It took me some time to decide on my order, but I eventually settled on the "Dinner and a Movie" with brisket. To my surprise, the food arrived very quickly. I had briefly stepped away to use the restroom after placing my order, and by the time I returned, my meal was already on the table. The salad looked appetizing, and I enjoyed it. However, my only disappointment was the brisket, which had an excessive amount of fatty pieces. Some portions were practically just blobs of fat, which was not enjoyable. I've been here a few times the food is always delicious! the service is great when the place is empty, once it gets crowded the service goes the drain! they need to make a specific area to order, it's not proper to squeeze yourself between the people who are enjoying their drink on the bar so you can order. all in all the people is good!
