The experience itself is cute but it's small. So you're really paying for the food and it's nothing memorable. Overall, I enjoyed it and had a great time but if you're price conscious and/or a food snob...you'll have plenty to complain about. I took the experience for what it was. A friend of mine invited me to this pop up restaurant. It's located in Wynwood! You have to make a reservation prior to - no walk-ins allowed. During your booking you also select your entree (comes with chocolate or strawberry cheesecake) and have to pay. You only pay for add on's when you get there like drinks and it's a service/experience fee. This spot was decorated so nicely, you feel like you're on scene of the show! Our customer service was good, the drinks were strong, and my Cuban sandwich with fries was tasty. It's a lot of photo opps here so come camera ready! We didn't have availability to attend the drag show, so, we dined in for dinner. We were seated indoor where there is a bar located (there are two onsite) the kitchen, bedroom and other photo opps. For the reservation, you select your time and food options and pay to make the reservation. Drinks and a $10 charge per person are billed at checkout. For food I chose soup and salad but changed my option to beef lasagna and garlic bread 5/5. For drinks I wanted a tequila option so the waitress recommended the lanai cooler--it wasn't strong on the alcohol. My second choice was the deveraux's cooler and I loved it. They are a bit on the high end $15-$16 bucks each. Before requesting our entrees, our waitress allowed us to enjoy our drinks, walk around and take pics which was nice. After having my entree, one of the bartenders and I enjoyed in a friendly all out brawl about the miami dolphins and Philadelphia eagles and he gifted me a drink he whipped up lol. I am not saying this isnt enjoybale for those who are dire hard Golden Girls fans. It just wasnt for me. I went to support the girlfriend who was excited about seeing what this was all about. When we first arrived, we were skeptical because we were in an ally with a bunch of locked gates. However, to our surprise, they opened up about 5 mins after the scheudled gates opening. The set up is a typical pop up establishment. We were on time but got seated in an area that was a little disappointing to the girlfriend as she wanted to sit in the kitchen area but was seated on a patio like area. So all of the scenes that reminded you of the Golden Girls was in an area away from us. She was bombed out but we made the best of it. We felt like since we checked in early, that maybe we should have been able to pick our seating and then fill in for those who were late. It like the later you were, the better your seats were as they tried to fill out the patio area first. Now on to the food. Subpar is being generous. The food was bland, cold and appeared to be prepared in a microvave. Paper utiensiles and an upcharge for everything even though you had to prepay for your meal selection prior to attending. I really dont have much else to say about it. I honestly cant recommend this other than if you are true fan and want to take pictures with the nice murals of the Golden Girls. I wont be back. So of course growing up this show was hilarious. Betty White had the last laugh too..bless her soul. So when a pop up came to Miami I had to go. My friend made reservations and we had to pay and pick our entrees before even attending. I can't remember all the options (not that the menu was big) but my.clique had either the regular lasagna or vegan and bestie had avocadontoast and I had the vegan avocado toast. Surprisingly I loved my choice. It was flavorful and tasty. For dessert we all had cheesecake but again there was either strawberry or chocolate. I went with the vegan and I have decided that vegan cheesecale is freaking delicious. And mind you I'm not vegan, I don't eat pork but I eat everything else. Anyhow walking in there are displays and quotes and pictures everywhere. The displays are all 80's and it is the best..Taking pics alone can take hours. Now quickly what I didn't care for were the drinks. I just didn't like them so I gave fit to my friend but noone was really.impressed with their drinks except for the 2 that had margaritas. So I'd say pre and post drink,lol. They do have items and cute trinkets for sale so I highly recommend it and walk around and enjoy. They do say you need reservations but we saw plenty of people that just walked in and were seated right away. I had THE BEST time!! Came all the way from NC to get this experience! It felt like home. The food was good. Like Sophia made it right in their kitchen. The cocktails were also good. Great photo opportunities and a gift shop too! If I had to give a recommendation, it would be to make sure that the gift shop was properly stocked. They had ran out of quite a bit and it was still pretty early in the evening. Other than that...kudos to the team who put this together. Don't go with super high expectations of 5-star cuisine, it is based off the show and what they made in their kitchen and it is presented as such. Okay about The Golden Girl's Kitchen. I'm giving them three stars because the props and aesthetics were wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed them. However, do not eat here. If you guys follow me, you know I rarely or ever leave a review like this because I know that restaurants hire staff and everyone has good or bad days. But I have to tell you that all of the food was cold. Not only was ours cold , but so were the middle of the meals if the table next to us. One order was lukewarm the other was room temperature. I have no idea if they're using warmers or chafing dishes but the food is not hot. On top of that they are charging 20% gratuity when you book online, which is fine, and then another 20% when you come in. This was explained to us however they are not actually charging you 20% when you come in they're charging you $10 per person whether you order additional items or stick to the actual purchase you made online. I felt so bad for the young lady at another table next to us. She came alone and she ended up paying $20 because her guest canceled. So she did not receive service for another person because they were not there but yet they charge her $10 for the imaginary person that they didn't serve. Honestly, I would not have minded if the food was good but it was not. Again everything seems to be out of a microwave or heating tray, so the food items weren't fully hot. It was either lukewarm or cold especially when you got to the center of the dish. I had the vegan lasagna and my cousin had the regular lasagna. I had the vegan cheesecake and my cousin had the strawberry cheesecake. We had sweet tea and ordered two drinks. The first drink came out incorrect as per their ingredient list on the menu. It listed that it would have Vanilla extract and it did not, it had anise. As you guys know, I love a good cocktail and you could smell anise before the drink made it to my lips. I sampled it to be doubly sure and also had my cousin sample it. It was definitely bot vanilla because I do not like anise unless it's in a piece of licorice candy and that is it. The drink tasted like licorice. They went ahead and made another one which was not that mixed well at all. I just went ahead and drank it, because clearly nothing on the menu was good. Save your money just go and check out the scenery. Total letdown as far as food and drinks. But as I said, the scene was great, the backdrop, the aesthetics they hit those on the nail. Horrible! Way overpriced! I paid $150 for 4 dinners that included salty lasagna, a day old roll and a slice of cheesecake that was just ok. We had to pay $6 for a soda and another $10/person for the "Golden Girls Experience" whatever that is, and a 20% tip which in total was almost $100! So $250 and the "pop up" scenery that's supposed to look like the show was junky looking. We had to eat off plastic plates with plastic utensils too! So cheap! The music they played was from the 80's and not the traditional music from the show that was represented when there were events like dances or just sweet moments. Not even the theme song! Its tuff for me to write a review which is not a favorable one, usually i just let these things be and not write about it. This time what i am struggling with is how much time has passed since our experience and i wonder how many more folks experienced same disappointment as we did. This is a buyer beware situation. I was treated to this as my birthday gift by my dear friend who has been struggling in many ways & her intentions were to give us a happy fun afternoon to get away for a bit from tuff life! It was very costly for what it is. It is nothing like the amazing pictures and promotions conducted on social media. Should of known when we arrived early & were told we have room to sit you now if you like and i asked ok but have we missed anything? And person looked at me in a very baffled way and said "miss anything? There is nothing to miss". We were sat outside in a round white iron type (yard furniture) set & our pre order reviewed. Asked if we wanted drinks to which we ordered 1 bottle water 1 sparkling water 1 wine 1 strawberry daiquiri. & told that because 1 of us wanted oreo cheesecake instead of strawberry there would be a $2.00 up charge. Well food.... 4 plastic plates each w a piece if lasagne accompanied with 1 hard as a rock garlic bread. I was not able to eat my portion due to it was very greasy. Cheesecake was ok. To our surprise at end waitress advised though meal & "experience" had been paid for in advance there now was a balance of $92! Our jaw dropped. "Experience" consisted of a front yard area with several "paper" decorations, a wall with their pictures, a block with more pictures, a "living room set up" then tables to eat at and an outside bar. In order to go to thr "inside" there was an area where on walls there were "quote" (more paper) where u can stand in front & take more pics. Inside there was another bar, more tables to eat, a "kitchen setup" and a "bedroom set up" which both were just awful. Overall disappointing. Overall experience was approximately $300 & it was truly not worthy. NOTE: i also reached out to the company in charge & expressed my concerns. I was told "sorry my expectations were not met". That was a very disappointing comment considering the product produced was of very poorly quality and far far from that promoted. No silverware for my lasagna-- had to find my own. Plastic!! Garlic knot was hard and stale. Service was mediocre at best. Server was bothered by us. Never came to check on us. Cheesecake was good. But, the kicker. They charged a mandatory $20 "experience gratuity" ... which was not disclosed on the reservation confirmation! Total scam! The concept of this idea is brilliant. The set up was fun and captured very specific elements of the show. The service was good along with the 80s music. However, The food left much to be desired. I ordered the vegan bacon lettuce and potato sandwich. The presentation was cute. The taste was way below average. It would be better to offer turkey bacon or no bacon because the vegan bacon was horrible. The waffle fry used for the potato was a bit soggy and there was also a slice of tomato. Specialty cocktails were $16 while wines and other beverages ranged from $5 to $10. The strawberry cheesecake was pretty good and there's plenty of settings for photo apps. There is a $10 per person gratuity charge which is a little much considering majority of people order in advance. Just about every group stopped to question their server about the bill. They charged an extra $10 per person for the "Experience" after pre paying $35 per person for a microwaved lasagna that was served on a plastic plate and silverware. Had an awesome time this weekend with my mother at the Golden girl's Kitchen event! We went on Sunday, December 10 at 2:15 PM. $35 per person and you pick your order when making the reservation online (can't buy at the event, only online purchase and reservations). We both picked "the lanai" a Miami style Cuban sandwich and strawberry cheesecake. We were seated right away in the lanai. The atmosphere was great. Felt like I was on the set of the show! The DJ was awesome. The music wasn't too loud. The staff and service were great. The food was amazing. The cheesecake is to die for, so good! We purchase our drinks $16 each. I had the Sophia's Italian coffee cocktail and my mother had the Miami Vice and they were pretty good. The drag queen show was very entertaining, so much fun! The bathrooms were clean, just no soap. Many areas for Photos! Keep in mind you can park on the street (I paid only $13 for three hour parking, pay by the hour) or you could park across the street from the event in a parking lot but will charge you a minimum of $68 to park there($50 parking plus fees & taxes). Also you will be charged $10 each per person for tip and $7 for a service charge when you get your bill at the Golden girls event. So for two drinks ($16 each) plus Tip and service charge we spent a total of $60. If you're a diehard Gold Girls fan and love to have fun, I definitely recommend this event for you and your friends. I think it is the first time ever I rate one star to a place......Golden girls has no redeeming value whatsoever, it is a TOTAL rip off. They decorated a large space with the GG kitchen, living room and such, placed some extra larga photos of the GG and they play the music of the tv series every 30 minutes while 2 or 3 of the waitresses claps to the rhythm without any enthusiasm. The food is ghastly, served in paper plates with plastic utensils. You pay 35 dollars per person and you pay a service charge of 10 dollars per person at the end of the "meal" while the waitress says that those 10 bucks per person are for the "experience". She did say it goes to the help but we should feel free to leave more ( we did not). Don't get sucked into experiencing this ridiculous venue......we could have gone to a very good restaurant and have a real treat for lunch for the same price or less. What a rip off!!!!! read more

Let me start my review by saying that tapping into 80s nostalgia is a hook and sink for many Gen Xers in Miami. The Golden Girls Kitchen promised to be a memorable experience but to my dismay the experience was subpar. For parties over 6 there is no tables inside, we had to sit outdoors in metal wobbly bistro tables for 2 joined together...very uncomfortable. We were party of 9 and we couldn't even sit together. The drinks were $16 and very "light"...hardly no alcohol in them. The service is TERRIBLE. The wait staff is rude and they don't add to the experience. Dishes are served on plastic plates with bagged plastic utensils. No table water available, you must purchase a $6 water bottle. The lasagna tasted like the "Costco frozen kind, the pan con lechón was far from tasty & cuban and the BLT had wilted lettuce. Thank goodness for the cheesecake...it was the only thing worthwhile. There is a certain window to sit and eat and we felt rushed the entire time. To add insult to injury, our waitress took 30 mins to bring us extra napkins and overcharged us on the final bill. You see they don't show you the bill prior to paying , its all electronic and they ask you to tip but they fail to mention that tip and service fees were already included in the ticket price for parties over 6. Luckily the manager, Jordan was able to reverse the charges but it eat up into our picture time of all the vignettes around the restaurant. I will say there are many "Instagramable" moments but honestly it wasn't worth the $$. Save yourself the time and money. My girlfriend decided to do a suprise treat for our ladies group with the very best intentions a BFF could have. We arrived at the Surprise Pop Up restaurant to be a part of the "Golden Girl" experience. However, the experience was lackluster at the very best. The food was horrendous. I ordered a tomato sandwich. You could see thru the unripened tomato, one slice of bacon, stale bread, no mayonaisse and a slice of lettuce that was spoiled thrown on top (not to mention the frozen french fried potato that was half cooked. The price of the so-called tomato sandwich was ridiculous as well. Another one of the gals ordered the butternut squash soup, which was served in a plastic disposable bowl and was iced cold. There was nothing about the "Golden Girl" pop up restaurant that came close the Class of the Golden Girls! It is a pity! They should be stopped from ripping people off. What a disappointment this Golden Girls dinner was. Checked in verified meals ordered and sat down at a table with only 3 good legs. Ordered 4 sodas. Waitress confirmed order and YET wrong food delivered. They came and took two of the meals.. the right ones. They then questioned why we sent them back. Finally correct meals delivered all at different times. My party of four very pissed. Food was warm. Leads me to believe that the food was prepared elsewhere and held in warmer trays. Dessert were decent but chocolate cake was frozen. Our waitress NEVER checked on us to give us a thawed out cake. I was so excited to share this experience with my close girlfriends but definitely not worth the money. As required, we prepaid the fee of $37.50. The menu is very limited and the food is mediocre. Of course you have to pay for water as they only offer bottled water for $6.00. When we paid our bill we were charged an additional $10.00 per person for sitting at dinner. We were told you had to pay for the experience. It was reasonable to assume that paying for your dinner included sitting down. There was nothing to experience that warranted an additional $10.00. After paying a total of $57.50 for a piece of lasagna, cheesecake and a bottle of water, I would definitely reconsider ever going to a pop up restaurant again. Lastly, one of our friends was sick so I took her meal to go. Of course, the dessert never made it to my bag. I didn't realize it until I was home.
