We've been trying to get into this place for a few summers now. We booked rooms in town on a great deal that was only Monday through Thursday. We've always tried going to the Golden Lion on Friday or Saturday and it was always an hour or more to stand in line. No offense to any establishment, but I don't care if Bobby Flay is cooking my food table side, I'm not waiting an hour for any food, anywhere. So, we went on a Tuesday night, we wanted bar seats, so they sat us with Joy at the little round outdoor bar to the left. Man! She was all over it! We never waited for anything. The food was amazing. Been wanted to eat the fish and chips again , this is the best place to get them , we started with the shrimp ceviche it was really good , with all the mixed pineapple , red onions ,cucumbers ,cilantro and freshly squeezed lime juice the taste is unbelievable we both loved it could have had two . This is the perfect tiki/beach bar and grill! The outdoor area is massive and the bar is soo spacious. This was my 2nd time here. I would be here every weekend if I lived closer. The vibes are just so fun. They had a live band the night we came. We were able to take advantage of their happy hour which was nice. Our bartender was Soo sweet! I wish I remembered her name. We ordered fries and I swear they came out in 30 seconds, no exaggeration. And they were hot and crispy. They have a full food and drink menu and specials. The friendliest staff ever! I came here for lunch on a Monday. The weather was perfect so we sat upstairs on the deck. Thankfully, there were umbrellas because the sun was doing its job. The views of the beach were beautiful. There was a nice breeze. Our server was Andy. He was very nice. On Monday's, they have $4 margaritas so my friend ordered one. She said it was really good. For my meal, I ordered two appetizers the nachos and jerk wings. They both were okay. I don't like seafood and this is mainly a seafood restaurant. However, if I did eat seafood the fish and chips look like a MUST order. Huge portion. But everyone enjoyed talking, hanging out, and their food. Overall, this place was okay but we sat in the hottest part of the restaurant possible with no fans and just trapped on heat, so we were all sweating by dinners end. Our waitress was incredibly efficient when serving 14 people. The food was all just "okay" where we were especially let down with the raw bar offerings. But the more egregious thing is they have a young man walking around offering "free photos" only to try and charge you for them. It was a pretty obnoxious move on the restaurants part to allow that kind of stuff. read more

The drinks were dangerously tasty (the good kind of dangerous), the food was genuinely great, and the service was friendly and fast--no "beach time slowdown" here. This is the third time to eat at this restaurant, which is located across the beach. It is almost full of customers with each visit but perhaps the current renovations are affecting capacity. We've never had parking issues are there are spaces available in front and to the side of the restaurant. Dining on the upstairs deck is available for panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Service is always friendly and quick. Love the live music!! Seafood is fresh and I've never experienced it overcooked. Seasoned well and portions are just right, except the fish and chips. Me and my husband just moved here a year ago and had a new born 2 months ago so we decided to get a baby sitter and finally explore flagler beach. Golden lion was our first bar. Erica our bartender was super nice and made our drinks really yummy. She recommended the hula hula frozen drink which was refreshing. The bucket drinks are super cheap. Loved it! We loved the ambiance. Looks like everyone who works there loves their job which is refreshing to see. The carribean jerk wings were amazing. Hope to come back soon for date night. read more
