This is the perfect tiki/beach bar and grill! The outdoor area is massive and the bar is soo spacious. This was my 2nd time here. I would be here every weekend if I lived closer. The vibes are just so fun. They had a live band the night we came. We were able to take advantage of their happy hour which was nice. Our bartender was Soo sweet! I wish I remembered her name. We ordered fries and I swear they came out in 30 seconds, no exaggeration. And they were hot and crispy. They have a full food and drink menu and specials. The friendliest staff ever! I came here for lunch on a Monday. The weather was perfect so we sat upstairs on the deck. Thankfully, there were umbrellas because the sun was doing its job. The views of the beach were beautiful. There was a nice breeze. Our server was Andy. He was very nice. On Monday's, they have $4 margaritas so my friend ordered one. She said it was really good. For my meal, I ordered two appetizers the nachos and jerk wings. They both were okay. I don't like seafood and this is mainly a seafood restaurant. However, if I did eat seafood the fish and chips look like a MUST order. Huge portion. But everyone enjoyed talking, hanging out, and their food. Overall, this place was okay but we sat in the hottest part of the restaurant possible with no fans and just trapped on heat, so we were all sweating by dinners end. Our waitress was incredibly efficient when serving 14 people. The food was all just "okay" where we were especially let down with the raw bar offerings. But the more egregious thing is they have a young man walking around offering "free photos" only to try and charge you for them. It was a pretty obnoxious move on the restaurants part to allow that kind of stuff. read more

Because it's always busy and there's not a lot of competition, they probably don't worry about improving the quality of the food, It's too bad because as a tourist it's in a spot that I would like to stop, but it does not beckon me back. This is the third time to eat at this restaurant, which is located across the beach. It is almost full of customers with each visit but perhaps the current renovations are affecting capacity. We've never had parking issues are there are spaces available in front and to the side of the restaurant. Dining on the upstairs deck is available for panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Service is always friendly and quick. Love the live music!! Seafood is fresh and I've never experienced it overcooked. Seasoned well and portions are just right, except the fish and chips. We started with Sharon's nacho chips with cheese they enjoyed it , they also ordered the jerk seasoning jumbo chicken wings, my wife's tuna steak was amazing she loved it it was the catch of the day .I had to try their Peel and eat shrimp now they have 1/2 LB. Me and my husband just moved here a year ago and had a new born 2 months ago so we decided to get a baby sitter and finally explore flagler beach. Golden lion was our first bar. Erica our bartender was super nice and made our drinks really yummy. She recommended the hula hula frozen drink which was refreshing. The bucket drinks are super cheap. Loved it! Sat by the sidewalk for a late lunch on a great Friday. Both of us had the fish and chips 'lite' special. Still plenty of food! They were good, not great. So this was our first time at the Golden line Café in Flagler Beach although we have driven by it many many times and heard all good compliments so we finally got around to giving it a try and these are our opinions only As the king of the beach bars go for over 32 years We are greeted very quickly and seated just as fast. We then ordered a couple of drinks which I had a piña colada and to be honest with you for nine dollars. I think it was a little too frothy way too much whipped cream in it compared to the type I'm used to enjoying it had good taste, but when I was done drinking it the bottom third was still I guess whipped cream or something she had wine and that was fine When you started off with an appetizer of fried calamari, which again was served quickly and hot and tasted just fine I ordered the fish and chips which comes with fries and coleslaw Now for me, I'm the type of person who likes my fish and chips plain. I don't need tartar sauce. I don't need ketchup. I don't need anything with it. I prefer to taste the batter, and if the fish has taste that as well, I don't like it, spoiled by all the other add-ons like tartar, sauce,, malt vinegar, and salon, Well the fish came out very quickly and it was hot just like the fries so no complaints but I must say it didn't have a lot of taste so for the first time I actually had to add something to it to give it a little of taste that's me. I guess other people like to put all kinds of things on them, but I'm not one of them. The french fries were nice and hot as well and you get plenty of them so no complaints. The coleslaw was excellent and probably one of the best I had in the area. She ordered the pesto, grilled shrimp tacos they claimed pesto marinated, but she was unable to taste the pesto at all, which did say they tasted good, but for something that's supposed to have pesto in it she couldn't find that taste As for the ambience well it's a beach bar and it's been around a long time. Could it use a coat of fresh paint it sure could could it use a little cleaning in certain areas yes it could but again it's a beach bar being right off the beach and seeing that we live on the water I know that's a full-time job and with help the way it is This could explain but when you sit next to a window that looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years that may just attract from the experience if you just there to drink and get shitfaced as they say then, I'm sure it doesn't matter one bit as for my opinion, would I return well of course I would and obviously try something else oh and one more thing they do have live music daily even though on this occasion, it got rained out, but if I could change anything in my experience, I would say cleanliness and I think the part I'm talking about the health department doesn't really pay attention because it really doesn't affect the food but it does affect the ambience. If you're that close to it with that said I will see you in the future and hopefully a good experience. read more

We live about 15 minutes away but go at least once a month. (There are many great restaurants around Palm Coast!) Whenever we take 'out of town' guests, it seems on their next visit they want to go back to Golden Lion!! Large portions and good quality with the best ocean views from the top deck! They did a massive renovation of the kitchen and seating area downstairs and it truly was well done. Totally recommend them to both locals and tourists! read more
