The best open mic in San Fernando Valley is here in Van Nuys. Free hot dogs on Sundays! They also have a great selection of hot sauces to choose from if you want to spice up your food or drinks. Highly recommend!

First time coming here with my good homeboy and we had a blast! Something about playing Jenga on the bar table and making new friends makes for a solid, good night of drinking. And Vero was a top notch bartender. I will be returning soon.

Ask the Community - Liquid Zoo

How does the Sunday open mic night work?

Just came in around 8:30, there's always a list there that they bring in. If you can't find it you can always ask the bartender that's working, it's usually Arayaa that works Sunday nights. After that Ryan, the host, will let you know when you're up…

Does this place have karaoke on Saturday nights?

    Yes

Are there 18+ nights? Or is it only 21+?

I reserved the XL room for a group of 20 of us. It was a $65 deposit over the phone. When we arrived the room was ready and waiting for us. It was a spacious room with booths and chairs for seating. Plus a center table to hold our drinks and snacks. They have a variety of drinks and snacks on their menu, they are reasonably priced. I enjoyed the blended cafe mocha drink, i think it tastes better than the mocha frap from Starbucks. The XL room was $65 per hour. There were many songs to choose from in different languages. We loved our 70's/80's rock songs plus the 90s pop. When we went in December 2025, the song book was last updated in 2024. However, there were so many songs to choose from. We definitely couldn't sing them all. Parking is a private lot that's free and plentiful. So this a huge plus compared to karaoke in k town. Overall, extremely fun to do karaoke here. The service was nice. It was great to be able to reserve for a large party. Can't wait to do it again!

This review is not going to be my greatest (I kept those, so this one is gonna look like shit). These days, I'm going out more. Meeting new people. Doing new things. And keeping my eye out on what has started to prove itself to be a horrible, horrible dating scene. Masochism is fun! One such adventure took me to The Oaks Tavern, a fun dive bar up in Sherman Oaks with the worst parking situation ever (but unfortunately for all you looking for a way out - still worth going). More specifically, it took me here for a trivia night - Charlie's Trivia Night, Wednesdays from 7:30p - 9:30p. They have a few of them, but I came here for this one. The drinks were dive worthy, and the pizza was, too. It's a fucking dive bar. ENJOY IT. If you want a fancy cocktail go to the arts district you asshole. Personally the combo pizza helped silence my growling stomach, because the brain power I have to use to get half the answers correct is cause for a bite or 20. It's all nostalgic. Nostalgia for a fun, easy, unpretentious evening where you don't feel like you have to wear makeup because doing a double wash with an oil based cleanser and then a cream based cleanser feels like a lot at the end of the night. All in all, I think I'd like to come back sometime. Oh yeah and the trivia was pretty cool. Charlie, is it? Is he single? Asking for a friend who is a bit of a masochist...

My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday for a quick drink before a movie, and the "vibe" was non-existent. They have four TVs at the bar, but the setup was bizarre, two were completely off and another was just frozen on a directory logo. The biggest issue, however, is the cleanliness--or lack thereof. The place is incredibly dirty. It feels like it hasn't had a deep clean in weeks, maybe longer. The bar top was disgusting, the floors were grimy, and even the woodwork looked like it hadn't seen a rag since opening day. They are charging $17 for "signature cocktails," which is bold for a spot that feels like a neglected dive bar. If you're going to charge premium prices, you have to at least wipe down the countertops. Service-wise, the bartender was friendly enough but low energy and minimal level of service. To make matters worse, a shift change happened while we were there, and the departing bartender made us close out our check and start a brand-new one with the next person. Why should the staff's administrative hand-off be the customer's issue? It's just unprofessional. The Valley has so many actual dive bars with character and plenty of high-end spots for a great cocktail; I'm not sure where this place is trying to fit in. It feels like someone bought it and just stopped caring. We won't be back.

Their long hours (early morning until 2am) mean there are a couple of shifts of staff per day, but I most often find Jodie behind the bar, and she's one of the nicest bartenders in town. Lighthearted and well-spoken, she can chat with anyone about almost anything, and she manages the crowd well. She's a good egg who's seen it all, but seems to treat every day like it's possible to get through without any problems. There's no food for sale here, but they're happy to have you bring or order in anything you like, and you'll often see people at the bar eating meals from the many local restaurants. There are 8 TV's mounted around the place (plenty for its size), so you can watch a game if you like, and the digital jukebox is easy to manage from an app on your phone. Plus, they've got solid, reliable WiFi, in case you're sick of sitting in Starbucks. Drinks are modestly priced and generously poured, and there's ample parking, both in the lot out back and on the un-metered street out front.
