SUMMARY: Mediocre food. Despite the great reputation, well adorned facility, stellar location, and impressive menu, everything I ordered proved consistently disappointing. Calling this food ordinary is, at best, an overstatement. At each turn, my efforts invoked in salvaging the (food) entries was met with failure. Starting with a simple Caesar salad, the lettuce tasted several days old. Drenched in ordinary tasting salad dressing, the romaine lettuce became soggy from the presence of excessive dressing. The dressing was too strong in taste, akin to store bought lower priced varieties, and from this, proved difficult to eat. The portion was generous, however. WARNING: Do not order the minestrone soup. To explain: The minestrone soup proved ultra disappointing. With the amount that I paid, $12, for a bowl, I was expecting it to be of meal-like quality. Instead, it was also challenging to consume, being so vinegary, possessing a handful of some tomato slices and little else. It arrived lukewarm. Instead of ample carrots, beans, celery, onion, etc., with typically a delicious broth, all that I could detect was slimy tomato slices in a pool of vinegar. The "chef" needs to study quality minestrone soup recipes and completely start over, especially if customers are charged $12 for such. I was so looking forward to a quality and hearty minestrone soup. I haven't tasted anything so pathetic yet simultaneously overpriced, in years. Have they tasted this? It pains me to speak so passionately about something like this. But it was a disaster. The house bread? It was crunchy, also seeming to be dated, not stale, just not fresh. It wasn't warm. It was dry. The garlic butter was fine, but following the theme, ordinary, at best. I tried everything to make at least the bread come alive, heaping massive piles of garlic butter on it. Nothing could rescue the bread either. No olive oil was to be found anywhere on the table or tables in my vicinity. Very friendly staff was present, but their inexperience and lack of polish became annoying. Whatever virtue that the "soup" might have had was lost as it got even colder while she was talking ceaselessly to me. Yes, it arrived lukewarm before she was conversing. Friendly service, even if awfully informal, can't compensate for such a poor price - value relationship and mediocre food. I cannot recommend this restaurant. Perhaps they do a superior job on pasta dishes. Yet, upon perusing the menu, I couldn't find just a small or half portion of spaghetti. A jr. high aged boy near me somehow managed to order a small plate of spaghetti. While it looked ordinary, such would likely have proven sufficient tonight, even if such was likely only available on the children's menu. If this restaurant once served fresh and delicious food, something, at least of late, has woefully gone awry in the kitchen. read more

Read the reviews before visiting which were generally positive about the food. I disregarded the comments about noise thinking it was an exaggeration. They were NOT! The noise level ruined the whole experience. I measured the db on my watch and it was typically mid 80's. I even saw a reading of 90 db! This means wait staff should be wearing hearing protection! The owners need to invest in some sound dampening panels or other technology. Food was average. We had a Cesar salad which was quite flavorful and crisp. We also had the elk cannelloni which was bland. I would not recommend the restaurant until the noise issues are addressed and perhaps try a different menu selection. read more

Considering that NONE of Marchitelli's "gourmet noodles" are freshly house-made, it's an odd choice to make that phrase part of the eatery name. But putting that aside, we were assured that ALL the numerous pastas sauces were freshly house-made... so sauces we ordered & tried! We ordered the vodka sauce, and our helpful server kindly told us that the vodka sauce was NOT pink, it was white and based on the Alfredo sauce. She said it was good, so we gave it a try. She also said that the pesto was based on the Alfredo sauce. When our stuffed mushrooms came, they tasted like they were filled with a cheesy, gloppy Alfredo sauce. And yes, even our $32 Chicken Piccata tasted like it had an overly tart & lemony, super-thick Alfredo sauce on it. Believe me, I really do love a good Alfredo, but just not in my other kinds of dishes. Even their standard "Hearty Red Sauce" was underwhelming which tasted too cooked down and was slightly acrid. What a gem. Loved this place- the food and the people were great. I had the elk scallopini and it was amazing. The sauce was very unique and delicious and the meat was perfecto. Red pasta sauce is some of the best I've ever had. We got extra to dip our bread in and devoured it. We even bought a couple of jars to go. We sat at the bar and the Bartender Michael was great guy. Ordered takeout on a rec from my hotel staff. Was quoted 20 minutes on the phone, showed up in about 30, and had to wait 10 more on top of that, but seemed like they made it when I arrived so that was nice. No big deal. Place was quite busy on a Wednesday night. Chicken piccata comes with a side of penne pasta + red sauce and 3 slices of sourdough bread. Everything tasted top notch. Chicken was tender, saucy and lemon-y. Pasta was al dente with a delicious sauce. Even the bread was warm, fresh, and tasty. Makes for one big meal, or a decent sized dinner with a small lunch from the leftovers. Prices are a little steep, but worth it for me from the quality ingredients, and friendly staff. Located on the Main Street, parking can be hard to come by, but not impossible. Would definitely order/visit again! Good lively atmosphere inside but also a chill patio if the weather is nice. read more

It is a real challenge to get a reservation as they only seem to do it by phone and only during working hours which is not until 5:00 p.m. The food is just okay. Checked this out for the first time. Tables were booked on a Tuesday (note to self...make reservations for a booth), but we lucked out and got a 2 top. Burrata was delicious. Plenty to feed 4 if necessary. Caeser salad was plenty for 2 and tasty. Would have liked to try the stuffed mushrooms - next time. Robbie stopped by to chat. He is the new owner up from an administrative chef position in Denver. Like all of us, escaping the big city and willing to take a risk. Marchitelli's was pretty dang good! My mom and I sat at the bar and Tony was friendly and chatted with us quite a bit. I would recommend getting reservations, which we did, because it was pretty busy. Cute little place with kind of a house like atmosphere. A good date night spot I think! Really wished I was drinking because their wine selection looked amazing. Glad they had a good non-alcoholic beer for those that are taking time of the booze. ;) Food was good too! We called and were able to get a table for an early meal. The restaurant staff were fantastic, knowledgeable, kind, and efficient. The Italian Bread was served warm, crispy and tender with a good freshly made garlic herb butter. You can use the balsamic and oil on the table for the bread if you like. We got a very tasty Italian wedding soup as a started and got the 8 bones lamb chops with gnocchi, and a baby clams linguine for dinner. Both meal were cooked perfectly and deliciously seasoned. Servings were generous so I got some leftover pastas to enjoy later. Perfect meal just hit the spot after a skiing day. We will be back with our family next time. I will start with the good, this is a super cute place and the food is to die for. They also give you fresh bread with a very flavorful garlic butter. The negatives was that we only come here once a year to work horses in cooler weather. We went to the restaurant after work in cowboy attire and were definitely treated differently than everyone else. They never offered us fresh bread until we asked but both people next to us were offered bread. The servers would pass by and smile and talk to everyone else but us. They wouldn't even look our direction. It took forever to even have the chance to ask for bread. We loved this place but felt like we weren't wanted there. We spent over $100 for two so it wasn't like we were just there and ate cheap. Staff should be advised to treat everyone equal. read more

I called a week in advance to make a reservation for 7:15pm on a Saturday night, the hostess was nice, but seemed a little short/rude on the phone when I asked to see if they did anything special for birthdays, she confirmed they did do something and that she would make a note to the waitress. So I thought awesome this is great! I called again the day of to confirm the reservation and that there was a note to the waitress that it was my girlfriends birthday and AGAIN they confirmed they did provide a special dessert for birthdays. We arrived at the restaurant 15mins early to check in and when I walked up to the host she rudely told me to wait putting her hand up to my face and helped another party get seated, this other party walked by me laughed and mentioned to me that they must be short staffed. We also observed the host try to dismiss a couple who were willing to wait for a table and she reluctantly logged them in the book. We were seated right on the time of reservation which was awesome. As I sat down my small plate had some left over food on it. The waitress was really awesome, super attentive and knowledgeable of the specials. We ordered the Clam special appetizer, the chicken picatta, and pesto genovese. The clam special appetizer had quite a bit of closed shells and the wine wasn't cooked out of the sauce, but the chicken picatta and pesto had great flavor and was very filling! Total for the meal was $80 which is reasonable for an italian restaurant. When the meal ended they handed us the check and wished us a goodnight without any birthday surprise as promised TWICE! Hopefully this is just the experience occurring right now during COVID where it is hard to find staff. read more

In town for several days for a wedding and not many places we went were very good. Had dinner here our last night. My wife had angel hair with their light red sauce, and I had chicken piccata. Both were excellent, and my wife mentioned particularly that her pasta was fantastic. Only problem was that they were very busy, and it took 45 minutes to get our food, which is the only reason I'm giving a 4 instead of a 5. The staff were all very friendly, helpful, and doing the best they could. Bit loud because they were crowded with a few large groups. If we ever find ourselves in Crested Butte, we'd definitely go back here. read more

We were able to get in for a last minute reservation the first Thursday we were in town, and it was a lovely experience. It is clearly a family-owned establishment, and it has a great energy and relaxed feeling when you come in. We got the calamari, chicken parmesan, and seafood pasta - All were excellent! We also loved the extra touch of the herb garlic butter you get with the free table bread. Oh and quick tip since we did have some leftovers - They do offer half-orders of their menu items if you have a light appetite! We definitely will be returning before we leave CB this week! Absolutely awful quality food with long wait times despite not being very busy. $17 for 4 very small pieces of fried mozzarella. The breading lacked any flavor. This was their "special" last night, mozzarella sticks just in a square shape, but made with "fresh" mozzarella - 1/2 the quantity and quality of their regular appetizers. We had two orders of chicken parm that comes eith pasta. For $32 you get 2 very small pieces of chicken and a handful of pasta. The entire dish lacked any flavor, I've had better cheap jar sauce. The WORST part of the meal was the veal parm. It arrived looking like a decent portion. When you cut into it though it was - no exaggeration - 80% unseasoned breading. The piece of veal looked like a cold cut slapped with two inches of breading on either side. We are long time locals and will definitely not be going here again. The quality of the food has completely fallen off. Incredibly disappointing to go for a birthday dinner with 4 people and paid over $200 for awful food, we didn't even order any drinks. Hopefully Kylena buys it up and improves the quality of the only Italian restaurant in town. read more

The red sauce reminded me of many of the family-owned Italian restaurants I grew up eating at in northeast Ohio. We sat at the bar for dinner and the gentleman tending bar was exceptional and prompt. Nice place, semi-fancy! All the food here was excellent. I came in with a group of 10 and the one waitress did an excellent job with us. We spent about 90 minutes having drinks, appetizers, main courses, and desserts. I didn't hear a single complaint about any of the dishes or drinks that came out. Superb place in town and well worth trying. It's a little higher on the price side but again it was all very good and worth every penny. We placed a take out order tonight to take back to the hotel. I ordered the Chicken Piccata and was shocked they gave me undercooked chicken. When I called to tell them about it, they put me on hold for 35 minutes then disconnected me. I tried calling back a few times but phone kept getting disconnected. This is NOT cool! I am very hungry after driving from Littleton. Now I have no dinner and I'm too tired to go back to town. Edit to add: I contacted them through Facebook Messenger and they'll give me a refund. Service and atmosphere is great, feels like you're going to have a nice home cooked Italian meal for sure but did not equate to such. Started off with the bruschetta, it was decent lacked in a bit of flavor but overall the best part of the meal. I ordered the penne with vodka sauce. The vodka sauce is so far from actual homemade vodka sauce. It's almost as they took heavy whipping cream and seasoned it with garlic and threw chunks of diced tomatoes in. The flavor was okay but it' was the fact of it being so far from actual vodka sauce, also had a meatball as my protein and it was quite repulsive. Cold, firm and flavorless definitely needs some help. My Girlfriend had the Alfredo with angel hair noodles and same concept. It was seriously like they had taken heavy whipping cream and just threw it over noodles. Ended up having to use the garlic butter and all of the Parmesan cheese and salt to make it taste somewhat accurate. Understandably this is a ski town so prices will be higher but for the quality of food you can get here you're better off getting a jar of Raús pasta sauce at Walmart and making it yourself. read more

Absolutely the best meal we have had in awhile, and the BEST meal that we have ever had visiting Crested Butte. Our waitress Heidi was wonderful, funny, and kind. We started with the House Chardonnay and the Buckle Rose-delicious. My husband ordered another glass of wine during the meal-the House Montepulciano- which he enjoyed. (The house wines change nightly). I ordered the Traditional Wedding Soup-a nice light soup with veggies and small meatballs-yum! and my husband ordered the Special Salad with beets-he loved it! My Chicken Marsala was the best I have had anywhere. So often I can't taste the Marsala in the sauce at other restaurants, but the flavor came through-very delicious. The chicken was soooo tender as well. I can't eat tomatoes, but I was able to substitute the tomato based side pasta with a pesto sauce-very fresh! My husband really enjoyed the Chicken Florentine. We both had enough left over for another meal as they give generous portions--great value for the money. We were too full for dessert, but the selections looked tasty. The ambiance was fun and lively for a Wednesday night. We had made reservations, so we had no problem getting a table. In addition, I left my scarf in our booth, and they kindly mailed it back to me--amazing!! This restaurant exceeded our expectations by a long shot!! We highly recommend Marchitelli's!! read more
