Really, seriously no one has reviewed this place yet? Maybe because it's tucked away in downtown Kirkland near Marina Park but the Grape Choice is not to be missed. It doesn't matter if you're looking for a glass of wine or a bottle to take home they'll take care of you. The patio is a nice place to enjoy a glass of wine (or a good beer...they have that too) on a sunny day. The selection is outstanding and if wine isn't your thing they have beer too. My friend and I had a living social deal and were very excited to check it out . When walking in we were even more excited to see all of the choices and cool vibe . However the service we received was terrible . When first ordering the waitress was very rushed . The table we sat at still needed to be busses and no one came to clean it off. It then took over an hour to get out appetizers that we ordered ( a cheese plate and a meat plate ) . When she finally brought it out she told us she had forgot. Grape Choice, located off the Kirkland waterfront and marina, is a great place for any wine enthusiast at any knowledge level. The great selection offers all varieties from most parts of the world. Spend some time wandering around the nooks and crannies of the small shop, where regions are often divided by the various rooms or enclaves. Many wines that I haven't been able to locate in other wine shops can often be located here, especially for great local selections. Love coming here, but don't do it as often as I would like. They always have different wines by the glass rotating, so it is fun to taste new wines and not get the same poured for you over and over again. The atmosphere is great during the summer since you can sit outside, but great during the fall season as well. Nothing fancy, but they are super good about having football on during Sundays. The wine selection is fabulous, and they have a good share of nice beers too. Always friendly. I haven't ordered food from next door, but you can and bring it over to the shop. That is a nice bonus! This is my second five star review today and that's uncommon, but this place deserves it. Cozy wine store in downtown with a view of Lake Washington, but what you get is a place to pick out your bottle, cork it right there and make some new friends. They don't serve food but you can bring your own from any of the restaurants around. The people who work there are awesome, they are dog friendly, and the hostess pretty much planned our my wife and I's entire wine trip to Woodinville for us. If we lived in Kirkland I would have a permanent chair here with a mold of my backside in it. read more

This is hands down the best wine shop inthe eastside. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the people that work there are very knowledgeable about their selections. They have everything you can imagine in there from all over the globe. They do a great job as well carrying wines which are in season. I would recommend the tastings they have on Wednesdays. We attempted to return a bad bottle of wine to the shop and they refused to take it. The shop attendant tasted the wine we were returning (after it had been opened for a few days) and declared there was nothing wrong with the wine. We have a 1000 bottle cellar, and although learning about wine is a never ending pleasure, we believe we can taste if a wine has a major flaw. It turns out their policy is they only will accept returned wine as if it has been corked. There are many other common wine flaws and it has been our experience that any reputable wine shop will provide a refund if a bottle has any of them. read more

BEWARE!!!!! I was at a event at grape choice were they sell bottles of wine$ I not only bought a bottle of warm chardonnay off shelf drank it there. When I went to pay $price I was told they Also CHARGED me an extra $5 for corkage fee "WHAT" for a bottle they also mark up then corkage fee and it even was SCREW TOP. How petty I will not ever probably go there again if so, take your own cork screw. Don't bother going don't wast your $ MONEY or TIME. read more

Went in to downtown Kirkland on a rainy Monday afternoon looking to purchase a few bottles of wine, The Grape Choice was recommended. I walked in the door and a man & a woman ( I presumed them to be the owners I was told about) were standing behind the bar at the entrance with a male patron seated at the bar, the rest of the store was empty. All 3 of them were engrossed in a cartoon program playing on the television above the bar wall. The man behind the bar made eye contact with me as I walked in, I smiled, he ignored me without saying a word and returned to watching cartoons. I walked over to view some wine selections adjacent to the bar when the women walked out from behind the bar, made eye contact with me, I smiled at her, she ignored me, did not say a word and she walked away and over to the bar seated herself and continued watching the cartoon on T.V. I was just stunned. I decided at that moment that customer service in this establishment was held in disdain while viewing cartoons on television was the most important of business. I walked out, went to QFC and purchased the 3 bottles of wine I was looking for. read more

Went in the other day to pick up a few bottles and was ignored for the first few minutes. Asked about a few wines that are cheap and tasty for daily drinking, was blown off. Then i asked about a wine in the case and all of a sudden inwas important. Kept being told it was good cause it got 98 points. Asked what made it worth the score. They said cause 98 points was good. Grape Choice sits near the Marina, beside Lake Washington in Kirkland. Nearby art galleries and restaurants, offer a sidewalk stroll with charm. You can have a wine tasting for 5 dollars on Wed nights. This tasting is the best around, since it offers a good sized bit of wine, plus tables to sit and experience it. Some tastings are more spectacular offering 8 wines for about 10 bucks. They allow dogs. You can order things from other nearby restaurants, like VoVino a couple doors down, they get delivered, or order a cheese/fruit plate on premises. The stocked wines are varied and run from about 12-up, with 5 dollar corking fee to drink it at the tables both in and outdoors. At the wine bar, glasses of good to great wines ranges from 5-12 dollars, both reds and whites are on the menu. Staff is attentive and conversational. It keeps a plain folks style while the wines there are tops. Plan on an hour at least to enjoy it. I sometimes like to get an Italian grinder at Jimmy John's next door to Sur La Table nearby, and eat it at Grape Choice with a glass of red. Doesn't get any better. Parking? Try under the Kirkland Library, only a couple blocks away, it's free. read more
