They serve food here now! Woot Woot! Drinks at the Grapevine after work always end up as a really good time. The place is so chill, their drinks are pretty cheap and where else can you have a decent conversation on a rooftop patio while watching people shoot hoops? If it's hot outside which it usually is in Texas, I go for the Suicide. It's a blend of all their slushes and they are only $3 for a large during Happy Hour. The bartenders are pretty nice too! My only complaint is parking; there is a small lot in the back but pull up super slow because it's all jacked up and filled with gravel in some places to make it more even. Available street parking in the area is not very close and the area can become a bit sketchy at night. read more

After a year and a half of driving by Grapevine and muttering under my breath that I need to check this place out, I found myself in need of a drink on a Thursday night and looking for some place local to celebrate Chicago's win over Boston. Grapevine is a dive bar indeed, but looks are deceiving. From the outside, I envisioned a small two room joint, but the place does open up to a huge outdoor patio where you can shoot hoops and a decent size rooftop seating area. Inside it is close quarters and getting from the front of the bar to the back can be a challenge when a pool table blocks the only way in and out. But, drinks are very reasonably priced - $2.50 pom pom for the lady and $5 snakebite for me. Grapevine doesn't scream weekend hang out spot to me, but this place fits the bill for a casual weeknight watering hole to chill over a cold glass of beer. read more

The Grapevine is the perfect kind of dive bar. Comfy seating (mostly old couches and grandfather chairs) I have to say I love this place. The music is always great, the crowd is so diverse and friendly and the drinks are pretty good. The staff is very nice and engaging I can't say I've ever been here and had a bad experience. I will say though, the photo booth inside is a death trap I've seen so many people fall into it thinking the plastic fabric was a hard wall lol. read more

This bar is by far the most prejudice, discriminatory space I entered while visiting Dallas. Of all the bars, restaurants, and clubs I ventured to during my stent in Dallas, this was the worst. Upon entering the establishment with two other friends, I took it upon myself to take a seat and catch up with family on my phone as I did not have a hard copy of my ID handy. My friends, however, did and proceeded to approach the bar and purchase a drink. After being asked for their ID and purchasing their drinks, they begin to drink them while one of my friends approached me and tells me we would be leaving soon as the service was poor. Moments later I was approached again and told the bartender would not allow my friends to finish there drinks until he saw my ID. (Mind you, I had already been sitting for about 15 minutes, long enough for my friends to go to the bar and complete a purchase for their drinks) I got up to inform the bartender I did not have my ID, but was just going to sit until they finished what they payed for. I go sit back down. Upon attempting to finish there drinks, the bartender comments on the fact that they decided not to include a tip. My friend insist that the service was poor resulting in no tip being given. The bartender immediately begins to act aggressively toward my friends, the customers, at this point snatching the drinks that had been purchased (while in the middle of drinking them, straws in mouth). I then hear glass begin to break and come to see what is occurring. I get up to see not one, but several males with their hands on my female friends pulling their arms and hair. I immediately go to separate these individuals and ask what is going on. Upon being told countless times to leave the establishment, I ask that I at least be allowed to gather the belongings I entered with. While trying to gather belongings we entered the establishment with, we are essentially attacked and jumped on by the collective of the establishment, including the bartender, manager, and what I presumed to be locals who come often. Overall, DO NOT give this establishment any of your hard earned money or time for that matter. They are extremely rude, prejudice, bias, and lie when authorities were called. I go here often as it is very convenient location. The happy hour deals are great, cheap wine and alcoholic slushies which are delicious! The patio is great and offers you the chance to play some basketball and sip wine at the same time---especially amazing with the new good fall weather. There is no food though which is a bummer, but you can order anything you like an get it delivered here ! The after happy hour prices are a touch pricey though, so I definitely think it's more worth it if you go early. read more

An eclectic mix of crazy strangers, even more random than their drinking glasses with a basketball court, lazily lit by naked bulbs, christmas lights and the best Bellini I've ever tasted. Surprising little gem that my friend and I stumbled across while yelping a nice patio/bar. Bartender was very friendly and welcoming and I already want to come back. They have my two favorite local beers on tap and a delicious looking cocktail called a Tangerita, which I might have to try. I had bookmarked bar this due to the great review. I checked it out one Sunday evening with a friend. Came in and started hearing Madonna's Holiday playing on the jukebox. Good vibe so far!! This song makes me want to break out and do a little dance....make a little love..get...oh sorry....back to my review. Anyways, we ordered a couple of Crown and coke and the drinks were stiff and cheap!! Nice combo. After the second drink, I was properly faded. The outside bar has a basketball court and a bunch of round tables. There is also a "patio" spot upstairs as well with about 3-4 small tables set up. On that day, it appears to be predominately gay crowd. But the crowd may be more diverse on other days. It's a good time either way. I will definitely be back for the cheap drinks and soak in the fun and laid-back atmosphere. read more

The grapevine is within walking distance of my work space making it a favorite spot for my co-workers and I to celebrate a great day at work, or drink off a horrible one. I'm always telling my co-workers how much I hate grapevine but now that I'm forced to list the reasons I hate it, I can only honestly say I hate walking through the creepy front to get to the back! And now that there's bathrooms out back I don't even have to go in there any more!!! I agree with Dan S. review, its pretty much right on! My favorite things are of course the low low prices, and how there isn't one piece of glassware that seems to match another, they are all completely unique. The atmosphere is completely relaxed, but I do choose a seat carefully to be able to watch for flying basketballs. I've been going to the grapevine for years and just today felt compelled to write a review because: I accidentally left without closing my tab the other day. When I returned to pick up my card I expected the usual situation when leaving a card at a bar, lots of miscellaneous false charges for drinks I never ordered and a big tip on top. A very quiet spot with good drinks and service. The prices aren't bad and they always have some sort of special going. The patio and basketball court in the back are a very different feel for a bar so close to the uptown area of Dallas, but it doesn't take away from the place being a nice spot to go when you want to just chill with friends in a laid back atmosphere and have a couple of drinks. If you are looking for a place to go when you want to dress up and step out on the scene.... It probably wouldn't be this spot. Hands down Grapevine is my favorite bar in Dallas. I feel like it's always a huge patio party. There is ample outdoor seating and they have a basketball court. And this is why I love this place. You can't beat watching drunk folks trying to play Bball. The crowd is very friendly. I always end up meeting new people during every visit. Grapevine is a bar you can visit looking any way you want. The bloody bloody marys!! I was a bloody mary virgin but no longer. And let me say, my first time was gooooood. Spicy and full of flavor, my heart was won over the second it hit my mouth. Two thumbs up for the patio. Unfortunately it was raining while I was there, but we lucked up with a table halfway under some shelter. I would love to return sometime when the weather is more agreeable. I think it would be excellent place to just chill after a long day. Having just moved to Dallas from Ocean City, MD which has hundreds of watering holes in a 9 mile island, I was looking for a dive bar that made me feel at home. My girlfriend and I decided to checkout the Grapevine bar and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere walking in was that of a humbling feel and nostalgic. The chairs are super comfortable. We were greeted by our bartender John who introduced us to the bar and the drinks and got to know us. We felt immediately at home. The drinks are generously poured, low priced and made with love. No two glasses are the same. We had a red lobster glass which we chuckled about. We were initially there for one drink but ended up having 3-4 a piece. The Bellini's are pretty much the potent bomb diggity. The crowd there varies from all facets of humanity. It really is a melting pot. We look forward to going again! PS- They basically have every liquor you can think of so can make any drink your heart desires. Fair warning, this bar caters primarily (but not exclusively) to gay folks, so if that is a problem, you might want to avoid it. Saturday afternoon. Looking for somewhere to hang out and drink. She says, "How about the Grapevine? It's nearby...oh, but it's a gay bar. Is that OK?" I shrug and say "Sure." I have exactly one other data point of going to a gay bar in Ohio because co-workers were desperate to see a drag show. I think women have some fascination with seeing how a straight guy reacts in a gay bar. Well, fellow straight men, you can relax. It was very chill and relaxed. The other customers there were very polite, nice, and friendly, but that is all. Sorry to anyone expecting some bizarre tale. Basically, yes it caters to the gay community, but they are not exclusive, nor do they create an environment hostile to straight folks, at least that was my experience. Our group grew from two to four to six, to an even dozen as the day wore on. A very friendly, chummy environment. It's a crowded, divey place, but it has a good vibe to it. There is a small patio up on the roof, where we pretty much spent a good five hours or so. The drinks I bought were affordable and reasonably potent, i.e., not unusually weak or strong. That said, I was getting Gin & Tonic, and if you screw that up, you should be bludgeoned into unconsciousness with a bottle of Tanqueray. On that particular day, they were serving up free burgers, hot dogs, and crawfish, so it was probably more crowded than usual, but the bartenders were kicking ass. The longest it took me to get service was probably 2 minutes. NOTE: they were only taking cash that day (I guess because of the crowds summoned by free food), which was not a problem for me, but I know some of my fellow Yelpers may live by plastic. They do have ATMs, though. The bathrooms are sort of divey in their own way and a line can form since there are exactly two bathrooms, each with a single toilet. But, I can't in good conscience ding a dive bar on its bathrooms. That said, they were reasonably clean and intact, given the crowds and venue. Clearly, if you are hetero, and you're goal is a date, then you probably want to bring your date, as you will likely have slim pickings here*. Great dive bar. Good drink prices and awesome atmosphere. First thing I noticed when I walked in were the mishmash of different comfy armchairs and that it was actually cold in there. I'm a big guy on a small frame, and when I drink I get hot so thank God for the thermostat master. Also, the jukebox was jamming. Outside there's a covered patio and a backyard with a bunch of picnic tables and a basketball hoop; watch out for the balls. Since this was my first time at the Grapevine, it's only expected that I got hooked to the basketball hoop, but I'm sure there's an awesome little niche somewhere in this place for you to kick back and relax. Crowd were all pretty friendly, maybe mid 20's with a few older people. All in all, I'd recommend them as a last stop place to decompress after a night of heavy drinking and uptown crowds. read more

This dive bar is the absolute real thing. Small, dark, old chairs, dirty and dusty walls, smells like alcohol and throw up. It's perfect, no one comes for any of this. We come to get drunk and that's exactly what happens. The frozen Peach Bellini is great and has the correct amount of alcohol to get you busy. Two will have you feeling great. This is a cute spot to meet new people, meet up with old friends, socialize, play pool, order pizza (yes you can get a pizza delivered here) whatever your heart desires.
