Ok. I really love this place!! I love music and they have it! I love a good burger and they have them! The fries are to die for!, They serve my rum and pour a great drink. So, I was there Sat. Had (another)first date and I like to introduce people to the places I love. They did not fail to deliver. ....But. We arrived early( 7:30), the band 57 Sauce whom I like were to play at 9. 9:00, no band-10:00 no band. Of course we kept asking when - but I guess they were just running late? Running late-for me is 10-15 mins; not over an hour. We had eaten-moved from inside to the patio and finally just gave up and left at 10:30. The family went to eat here so there were 4 of us. It was a Saturday night so I was worried about what the crowd might be like here because we had our young daughter with us but, that was not an issue at all. Lots of college kids and families too. Everyone was great. We had the Angry Burger, Chicken Fried Burger, Patty Melt and the Kids Meal Burger. The burgers average $7.95 plus adding fries for less than $3. The kids meal was $4.99 I think. Anyway, less than $40 with soft drinks and tea and we took food home. The do have sweet potato waffle fries too. They were really good. My son enjoyed the Angry Burger. He said it had enough heat to be good. My wife also liked the Patty Melt along with my daughter liking the Kids Burger. My daughter did not like the fries while all of the adults enjoyed them. They aren't the crispy McDonalds type fries though. I can say that they have a sweet bread for the bun. It was really good and the Chicken Fried Burger was great while it was hot. It was such a big burger that it was cool by the time I got to the end and I thought that it was way better hot. It was still ok cool. They have a burger bar with all the fixings which was awesome. A really nice touch. I think I'll try the 1/3 pound option next time. We really enjoyed the dinner and will be back for sure. read more

GET BETTER BARTENDERS!!!!!! The bartender (I believe her name was Hani if I recall correctly) was so unbelievably rude and unprofessional. Her behavior makes me believe management is the same way, especially if this is the kind of person you hire to SERVE people. Me and 4 of my friends were just trying to enjoy an evening out and her disgusting attitude towards us was enough to make us go to Mellow Mushroom right across the street and enjoy their happy hour instead. Ultimately I thought, "maybe she's just busy and overwhelmed" but after me and my friends witnessed her being super friendly with her coworkers but not the customers, I knew this establishment DID NOT deserve our business. If you want a place to drink/get good food I highly recommend Mellow Mushroom or J Gilligans down the road!!!! They have great prices, and AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE! I've been to this place many times and typically love it however, my experience yesterday was the worst experience I've ever had in food service. My family and I arrived around 6:15 pm and our order was put in at 6:21 pm. We waited for about 30 minutes and began to see other customers that were initially behind us in line receive their food. We didn't think much of it at first but we decided to check and see how much longer it was going to be. The first time we went up to the front the staff realized our order was lost, we proceeded to give them our receipt and they said they'd throw it in for us. We sat back down and waited another 30 minutes before going up for a second time. The guy behind the counter checks again then states that they have lost our order once again and told us they are rather short staffed and they'd try and get our order out to us asap. Almost 2 hours go by as we watch every person that was behind us get their food. We then go up a 3rd time, he checks the orders behind him then proceeds to tell me it has been lost AGAIN after 3 times checking in on it and assuring us it'd be made. Talk about a waste of time, not to mention having to cancel plans after the fact because we wasted so much time waiting for our food that wasn't even being made. As a person that works in the food industry I completely understand how busy it can get, but misplacing my order 3 times was outrageous. Moral of the story, don't go here on a Saturday night and unfortunately, I don't think we'll be coming back. read more

I ordered the Angry Burger and Fries..The burger was supposed to be the top of the line burger and I must say...the bar was set way low for this one... The taste was on the line of Jack in the Box. The atmosphere and beer specials are great here. They have awesome prices for beer normally and it also puts you close to both stadiums. The patio is great when the weather is great and the bar opens up to the outside as well. It is a bit dark in the interior but that seems to go with the grungy burger bar vibe. Service is normally pretty quick. We ordered our burgers and they came out in about 10 minutes and tasted fresh. I got the black n bleu burger. It is good but there is so much sauce on it. If you like that in a burger, I definitely suggest getting this one. It is a lot of flavor packed in. The french fries are way too salty for me. I wouldn't get them next time. Maybe try the onion rings instead. What really turned me off was how the staff was handling the dog situation outside. I understand people enjoy bringing their dogs with them and it doesn't bother me if the dogs are trained. But there was a lady, who had obviously had way too much to drink, allowing her puppy to run around outside the restaurant on the patio and into the parking lot. The puppy had no collar or leash and she let the dog do whatever it wanted. It peed under our table and no one apologized. When a bigger dog showed up, she allowed the dog to continue to run around and cause problems. The staff just laughed and kept petting the puppy. The staff should have said something when people reported the behavior. If you want to be dog friendly, that's great. But please have staff trained to deal with uncomfortable situations that could arise. read more

I'll start off by saying service went fast and the food came out quick, despite it being relatively busy. The atmosphere was comfortable and lots of people seemed to be enjoying themselves. You go through a line like a fast food place, then sit and wait for your number to be called. There's a serve-yourself condiments station, and a bar to order alcohol (separate from food). They seemed to be advertising cheap beers, so if you're into the $2-3 beer scene, this is your place. Lots of seating and TVs. We ordered two veggie burgers, a chicken burger, and a regular beef burger. The bun on the chicken burger was about half the size of all the other ones, which is unfortunate because that was mine and I'm writing the review. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their burgers so that's a plus for the restaurant. We got onion rings and French fries as sides. The onion rings were A) not hot, if barely warm, and B) tasted like they were made hours before, meaning they were soggy. I didn't eat many of them. As for the French fries, they had to be eaten with a fork because they were small, like the ones that end up at the bottom of a McDonald's fry cup. One last thing, and this was just an annoyance, the menu has fresh jalapeños for $0.75 extra, but are also offered on the condiments station. Could be oversight, or perhaps they just don't care. Maybe this is the standard, maybe just bad luck all at one table. I probably won't go back. If I were to recommend you see for yourself, I would say keep your expectations low. read more

This place is mediocre. The cocktails are terrible. All the juices are watered down. I ordered a Moscow Mule, it didn't even have ginger beer in it.Then I ordered a White Russian. It's so simple... vodka, Kalhua and a small amount of cream or milk. Mine was in a tumbler which meant it had almost a whole glass of milk. I do like the burgers and fries. I don't mind that you have to order and pick up your own food and drinks. It stays consistently crowded. The busboys are lacking. The service seems to be hit and miss here. I've had times where everyone was friendly and helpful and other times where the people working were really rude. We went there for dinner one night and got turned away because they had "reservations only" for some band. I don't really get that. It would have been one thing if the guy was nice about it, but he was really rude in telling us we had to leave. I would have been fine with going, but it was the way he communicated it. The burgers here are one of the best in Arlington. The half-pound patties are like bricks of meat. The buns are perfectly cooked. The meat is the hero. I'm looking forward to eating burgers if I'm in this area. I like the square shaped burgers. The burger topping bar is a little slim. The restaurant is a cool place to dine in. Real good place! Love eating here! If you are looking for an actually unique burger, this is the joint! They have all kinds of options for toppings and meat choices. And from all that I've tried, they are great tasting! My group ordered a appetizer sampler as well and the sweet potato fries were to die for alongside a delicious onion ring. While it might run a bit greasy from time to time, all the flavor they pack into their dishes is well worth it! In addition to the unique and great tasting food is the atmosphere which is super fun and just a nice dive bar kind of feel. The live music is going to be great more times than not, and the bar is stocked with some mighty fine beers. This is a great Friday night date place, as well as a nice little hangout too. And if you come early enough, I don't see a reason the kids can't come too. Service is nice and fast and to be honest, this is just one of those places that has that intangible quality that makes you want to keep coming back. Our party of four adults ate lunch here after the UTA graduation. My husband and I had never been there, but I had heard about it and seen it while driving by. Well...The burgers were huge and required many napkins because of the juiciness, but the ground beef tasted a bit off or old. Not the freshest. The table was a bit grimy and the laminated menu we borrowed from the bar was sticky. On the flip side, there is now a touchless condiment bar due to the virus and the iced tea was good. The burgers were okay. The buns are sweet but mushy. They stick to the paper on the basket and had to be gently peeled off. The meat was very good and the chicken fried bacon was yummy. Fries just okay. They have bands on Fridays and Saturdays. Outdoor seating is dog friendly. The sound was too loud. The table was vibrating and you have to really raise your voice. First, don't show a picture of an amazing burger like the Big Monkey Smoked Brisket Burger on the opening page of your website with a caption stating get it before it's gone. That statement tells me it is available. Second, when I ordered this amazing burger today, the cashier said that burger is for special occasions. Then put that in the caption of the photo. Third, I had to make a quick menu decision so I picked the chicken fried burger. I should have known that was a bad idea. It said it was served with country gravy. Would have been nice if there had been enough country gravy to actually cover the burger. I will give this place one more shot. If you want a really good burger and a nice cold beer this is the place for you. We come here about once a month and the burgers are some of the best I've had. This little burger joint / sports bar / dive bar is two separate business in one. One side of the place you order you food and the other side is the bar / eating area. I hear you can order food at the bar but I never have. I normally get the Roasted Red Pepper Burger or Fried Portobello Mushroom Burger. My other half normally has the Angry Burger (sometime spicy and other times it will set you on fire). Recently I had the Chicken Fried Burger which, to my surprise, was very very good. The homemade fries are good but nothing to write home about. The onion rings used to be extremely good but they have changed them and now they are below average. The burgers are big enough so split an order of fries they are plenty big enough for two. The bar is a full bar. I normally just get the beer. They have a wide assortment of Craft beers on tap and in bottles. Good food and good beer, what more could you ask for. read more

For starters this place is definitely more accommodating for the 35+ and up crowd. The noise level can get a little rowdy and everyone is more or less straight forward with answering questions you my have about your food. The staff is very nice though, don't be intimidated if they aren't overly chatty because more or less any given time the kitchen and bar will be slinging food and drinks pretty darn fast. The food was more than decent but alas did not blow me away. It is a very greasy piece of meat. Nothing was over cooked and they have a very good selection of toppings. I also recommend the fried platter appetizer that featured fried pickles, fried waffle fries, and fried onion rings. Their sides are solid and the bar was reasonable for a downtown spot. I wanted to like Grease Monkey...I really did. Fist, I think it is part of a burgeoning downtown Arlington development that has been needed for decades. Second, I went to school with the owner, and really hope he does well. Alas, my first experience here may be my last as well. I went to Grease Monkey for the first time about 7pm on a recent Saturday. Despite the lateness, the place was packed, mostly with people watching the Texas Tech v. Baylor game. We ordered at the counter (you order your food, find a seat, then are called when your order is ready). But after ordering, there was nary a seat to be found. We lucked out, though, as an old friend of my wife's spotted us and invited us to sit at her table. Unfortunately, her table was in the corner by the garage doors. I am sure there must be some perfectly reasonable explanation why these doors, comprising one whole wall of the establishment, were kept open with it being 52 degrees outside and misting. I for one cannot think of that reason. Needless to say I was not dressed accordingly. By and by we were called for our food. I got our meals, and sat to eat, but when I looked for condiments I found that the tables are all kept bare. If you want ANYTHING: ketchup, napkins, even lettuce for your burger, you must venture through the crowds to where these are all kept. And as to these condiments, be prepared to make several trips, as you must squirt what you want into smallish containers. In any event, condiments in hand, I sampled my Black and Blue Burger (Bleu Cheese, bacon on a blackened burger) and almost choked. There was so much salt in the blackening rub on the burger it could barely be tolerated. I had to slather it with ketchup to get it down. It is my hope that Grease Monkey works through these issues as it moves forward. Arlington needs more establishments like this willing to build up a downtown scene. Shocking experience! I bought a GrouponNOW today and went to use it tonight (this type of Groupon expires at the end of the purchase date) . Managerr approval is required to apply it, but there was NO MGR ON DUTY. Poor little cashier was kind but her hands were tied. I wasn't upset with her at all. Went here when my bf played with a big band on a Sunday night. A very unusual place for a big band, I'll say! For me, it seemed like a cross between a dive bar and a burger diner. I enjoyed the show very much, and apparently, so did the other patrons, because the place was PACKED. I don't have a lot to say about the food. The fries were limp and lackluster, and the burger was okay...nothing to call home about, really. I've heard mixed takes from friends, but I'm two-for-two on good experiences at Grease Monkey. 1st visit, evening: walking in to meet a group, the split layout confused me for a minute. Bartender was awesomely nice and recommended a beer I ended up really enjoying. The live music was pretty fun, and it wasn't so loud that it drowned out all conversation. Did not eat. 2nd visit, noon: I stopped by for the burger special and I was very satisfied - it's a sizable burger and you put your own toppings on. Fries were perfectly hot and fresh. I like that you can see how beautiful of a day it is outside from inside the restaurant (assuming it's a beautiful day.) tl;dr: Nice environment, fine burgers, fair prices.
