I've been here twice. I love the customer service and that they're open early. The bagels are delicious especially the spinach. I recommend not getting it toasted to me it was burnt so the sandwich was not as tasty. I wish they had one one dairy free cream cheese spread. I will have jelly on my sandwich in mean time. They do offer impossible breakfast sausage. They have a cooler full of in house cream cheeses. The service time is quick. The chili was very hearty with reasonable pricing overall. The Jambalaya is awesome so rich is flavor and spicy kick at end of each bite...there were clams, chicken, shrimp, and andouille sausage inside! I usually get the vegetable cream cheese with the savory bagels and I get blueberry or apple maple sugar with the sweet bagels. This is a warning to be mindful of the differences between locations for any chain. The Turkey Club Panini sandwich I ordered from the Great American Bagel at 1154 West Madison was bland, slapped together trash. Previously I had ordered the same sandwich from a different location and it was delicious. Freshly toasted, buttered, individual slices of bacon. A really solid place to grab a bagel! They have tons of bagel options and they all look so fluffy and fresh. I had the egg and cheese breakfast bagel with bacon, on an Asiago bagel and it was delicious and filling! The scrambled egg omelette was a thick, fluffy, and even layer, sandwiched between two fluffy and cheesy bagel halves, along with a layer of bacon and melted cheese. Took the bagel sandwich to go and when I opened the wrapper about 30 minutes after picking it up, it was still warm! Great wrapping!! Will definitely come back soon. read more

Bagel was fine and really reasonably priced for the city. The place in general feels like something from the suburbs or a rural area. Not really the kind of place you'd want to hang out in though, unlike most coffee shops in the area that have really nice atmosphere and comfortable seating. HOWEVER, the staff is WONDERFUL. I had issues connecting to the wifi and I think literally every staff member working at the time helped me in some capacity to try and fix the problem. Idk if they ever figured it out but A+ for effort. Id much rather go to a "middle of the road suburban type" restaurant with nice friendly staff than a fancy pants city restaurant with rude staff. read more

I was in the neighborhood to check out an apartment complex that was across the street. I asked some tenants about this bagel shop and so I decided to stop in and give them a shot. I patiently waited my turn. Keep in mind I had never been to this establishment before so I did not know the protocol of where to stand as it wasn't marked off. When I saw the Ronan behind the glass counter I asked her if this is where I stand to order. The crabby rude woman snapped right back yelling at me about waiting a minute. She completely embarrassed me and disrespected me so when it was my turn and she asked me what I wanted I made a bee line for that door!! I refuse to allow myself to be shamed simply for asking questions. Wow! Could you imagine how this one treats her children. It's a solid no from me. If you're considering trying their bagels here's my advice. Run like your the last two monkeys boarding Noah's Ark and it's starting to rain!! No no and no!!! That's a hard no from me folks!!! Stopped in this past Saturday, my husband is a huge fan of GAB, has been since he was little & we decided to introduce our one year old daughter to them as well! This was our first time at the West Loop location & we were pretty impressed with all the safety measures that were taken! They have a glass partition that separates the employees from customers. All the employees wear masks & gloves. They have hand sanitizer available, which is nice too! The bathrooms were super clean & had paper towels available, little things like this make it easier to take young kids out during this pandemic. The food was very good! Bagel Dogs are always my favorite GAB item & this location makes a "Chicago Style" Bagel Hotdog, and it was fabulous. (They have amazing pickles too!) My husband got a bacon egg and cheese on a strawberry bagel & he loved it! The staff was awesome, they gave my daughter a chocolate chip bagel & it was a total hit. We ended up buying a few to take home for her! We will definitely stop here again when we venture into the city! read more

I came here for a classic bagel sandwich and got exactly what I wanted. I had the scrambled egg and cheese sandwich with bacon and cream cheese on an everything bagel. It was a good price for being in West Loop. The bagel wasn't toasted, which was probably a good thing since I ended up eating it an hour later after doing errands. Surprisingly it was still quite warm and soft. I can see it being good with hot sauce of your choice (I like Cholula). The tomazzo bagels caught my eye, I will have to try that next time I come. WIth that said, its always nice to have a nearby spot to get quick breakfast items from as well as soups, coffee/hot chocolate, and of course bagels. They have a nice bagel selection if you're into the diversity of bagels. They made some of the best hot chocolate I've ever drank. Unquestionably the worst bagels I have ever had. I unfortunately bought two. I went at 8:30 AM, and my bagels were ice cold, as if they had just been thawed, and stale. Their marketing says "baked fresh daily"... put simply....NO WAY! I have gotten better bagels at grocery stores. I threw my second one in the trash. They have a pretty extensive assortment of bagel flavors with some very interesting ones that I had never seen before. It was fairly empty in the afternoon, a few customers in and out, but the bagels still tasted pretty good. I had a sun-dried tomato bagel with veggie cream cheese. The veggie cream cheese was basically carrots and scallions, I was hoping for some red or green peppers. And something, I think it was the bagel, tasted really peppery. She insisted she packed 6 dozen and asked me to bring back so she can check. Went back home and Brought back the bagels as exactly as how she packed. She saw it was only 4 dozen. A few months ago my wife and I ordered some bagels here, a dozen, to bring to my brothers place. They asked if I wanted jelly with the order, they have grape and strawberry, and before I could answer, the manager said "We'll give you both." I was then charged for two jellys.
