Hate to write this review because I really wanted to support a local business. Unfortunately, there were three separate issues with a very simple order: two toasted bagels, one with cream cheese and one with butter. First, the wait was pretty absurd. There was no line when we ordered, yet it took about 20 minutes to receive two bagels. Second, the order was wrong. When we got home, I realized I had received the wrong bagel, and neither bagel had actually been toasted as requested. Third, and most disappointing, both bagels were completely stale. Everyone has an off day, and I probably wouldn't have left a review if someone had followed up after we called. We reached out about the issue, but more than 24 hours later we still hadn't heard back. Just a really disappointing experience for what should have been a very straightforward order. read more

Ok I am so happy that I finally found a bagel spot that has perfectly textured bagels! I got a garlic and an onion bagel with scallion cream cheese and veggie cream cheese. The texture of the bagels was SPOT ON! The exterior was slightly crunch, the inside was slightly chewy but not too chewy that it would taste like rubber, and you could tell that the bagel was fresh! Swung by here on the way to work when my normal bagel shop was closed. This may now be my new normal bagel shop! I just got a cheese bagel with cream cheese, but their breakfast and lunch sandwiches look amazing. The bagel I got was super authentic with a nice crust and a beautiful chew. Very tasty and perfect. The shop is on the smaller side, but if you wanted to eat in, there is space. And the staff was super nice and the service was incredibly fast. Prices are reasonable, especially given the quality. My pick up order was ready when I got there. Everything was put into one huge paper bag stapled closed. No handles. If I picked it up from the top it would have torn through the bottom. I got bagels, unsliced, and containers of cream cheese. I tipped on the order. Got home and there were no plastic bags to store them in (I got 18 bagels), there were no knives to spread the cream cheese, there were 8 small cocktail napkins. This isn't your traditional New York style type bagel joint. I placed my order online and I arrived before the promised time so while I waited inside I got to see their entire operation. Definitely very unorthodox. The online pick up orders are inside. If you don't order online they have an ordering window outside. Essentially a takeout only place. The staff was great but they were all working in sweats. They cook the eggs in the back and they have two ladies assembling all the orders and one working the window all dress like they just got out of bed. I will admit I was having second thoughts about this place. And then I tried my bagel sandwich. The Atomic Bagel Sandwich. If you're from Chicago, you should automatically no what you'll be getting. Hot Doug's spicy atomic sausage, with pepperjack cheese and scrambled eggs. I ordered mine with an everything bagel it was way better than what I had expected. It had the perfect amount of heat and the pepper jack gave it some even more extra heat. My wife ordered their bacon egg and cheese but it came out a little burnt on one side. And wasn't too happy and they also don't have a big selection of cream cheese like other places do. Doubt she'll want to come back but I can definitely see myself returning. read more

It's been a few years since I had Brobagel and I'm glad I tried it again. Went with a classic bacon, scrambled egg, and cheddar sandwich on an everything bagel. It was tasty and filled me up thanks to hearty portions of egg and bacon. The bagel was not too chewy, which was fine by me and my sensitive teeth. Added on a Metropolis cold brew and it was a good meal. The service was kind and employees worked quick to take my order and make it. I was in and out in a reasonable time. I have been meaning to try brobagel for awhile now just because I love Piece Pizza so much! I went in to get an everything bagel with plain cream cheese and grape jelly but found out that they do not serve any jelly or jam. I got the everything bagel with plain cream cheese. I loved that the bagel was seasoned all around but there was a little too much salt in the everything bagel seasoning. The team was very attentive. This is definitely a grab and go place. as a new jersey native (state with best bagels and i stand strong on that), i thought the bagel from here was pretty good. The bagel sandwich options were definitely sparse compared to what you'd find at a typical bagel deli though, but maybe this is just a chicago thing idk. prices weren't terrible either in comparison to a nyc or nj bagel sandwich. overall i'd come back here but i just really wish they had more options like cold cuts and more dressings. read more

Time has not been kind to Brobagel. Prior to Covid, I was here most Saturdays to grab a coffee and an Atomic Bagel sandwich. Today I found myself returning to Brobagel after an extended hiatus and I was shocked. The hip and cool wicker park bagel joint is a pale shade of its former self. Upon walking into Brobagel you're now greeted by a couple of old, mismatched shelves blocking what was formerly the seating and ordering area. Cardboard boxes are strewn about the place giving a unwelcoming storeroom vibe. While I wouldn't call the place dirty, judging by the amount of grime on the floor it's been a while since they performed a deep clean. Service was lackluster at best. I asked multiple times where I could eat the bagel while looking at the seating on the other side of the shelf barrier. "They don't let nobody back there", was the response to my question. I ended up eating my $18 bagel sandwich at the bus stop down the street like a homeless person. If you own this restaurant, please put it out of its misery or invest a few bucks in sprucing up the place. Wow just wow. Been trying to find a good bagel shop since moving from nyc to Chicago and I finally found it. I can't start to describe how fresh, chewy and crunchy and just how delicious this was. Service was super friendly especially for us first timers that had so many questions. So I am giving 4 stars because the service makes up for what I feel the bagel lacks. I ordered the nova lox on a toasted everything bagel. The bagel is good but I felt this wasn't the best lox I've had and for the price was a little underwhelming. The bagel toasted on one half was a little hard and I thought getting the flavored cream cheese would spice up the experience but did not really. The sandwich did hold up and I appreciated that. I guess I kind of understand the mixed reviews on the actual product itself. Everyone has a different idea of what constitutes the perfect bagel. As for me, I think these bagels are just about the best I've had since I moved to this city in 1996. The bagels are plenty big, meaning they are a calorie bomb, but hey, you're not eating bagels if you're trying to lose weight, or even keep your weight in check. And I like a good well-done bagel that has crispy crust to bite through. Yum, and chances are you'll get a couple or three of those in every dozen you buy. I don't know from the cream cheese because I slather some from a Philly brand brick I buy at the store on it. What I am docking Brobagel a star for is the hubris of the tip options. The default percentages are 18%, 20%, and 22%. Now, understand: the only thing Brobagel employees are doing for you is putting bagels in a bag and handing it to you, which takes all of 10 seconds. They don't even process your payment--you do that yourself on the iPad, which is not atypical these days. But I mean, seriously: what is it about the ten-second action of putting bagels in a bag that's worth an 18% tip, let alone 22%? The bagels are already expensive at $36/dozen. Am I expected to penalize myself an extra seven or eight bucks because an iPad asks me to? Nearly fifty bucks out the door for a dozen bagels? Yeesh. You know who 18% to 22% tips are for? Restaurant servers making five dollars less than true minimum wage who serve you drinks and multiple courses and bring you extra bread and steer you toward the better menu options. People who spend time actually *serving* you. The people at Brobagel make the true minimum wage of $16,20, at least, and they don't serve you in any commonly-accepted sense of the term. They barely even look at you. They're just filling a bag and handing it to you. So why am I tipping them the same as someone who spent an hour or more making me comfortable? Honest question. Seriously, I am over the COVID-era idea of tipping people who work for retail or even take-out joints anymore. Heretofore, I am re-implementing my traditional maxim when it comes to deciding whether I tip: if you wait on me, I'll tip you. If I have to wait on you, I won't. read more

I had brobagel on a Friday around 11 am. It wasn't super busy, but there were a few people waiting in line outside to order, so I was glad that I ordered online in advance. The staff was super friendly, especially when I mentioned that it was my first time. I had an everything bagel with the tofu scramble. The everything bagel was good. I like it when the bagel has a ton of everything seasoning, and this definitely delivered. However, the tofu scramble was not it. It was very messy and difficult to eat the bagel sandwich without all the tofu falling out. The veggies in it also didn't seem particularly fresh or tasty. I think the option to add cream cheese would help it to stick together (I couldn't figure out how to add cream cheese through the online ordering, maybe they would let you do it if you were ordering in person). Another item I would add to the online menu is iced coffee! I ended up having to make two stops so that I could get an iced coffee somewhere else. read more

Was a little disappointed when they said there was a $0.50 up charge for the Asiago bagel but that quickly turned into satisfaction after taking my first bite. My experience here could best be described as a morning ruiner. We waited ~10 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us after we walked in, not because there was a line, but because the guy in front was standing there watching online order tickets come through. After we finally order, (30 dollars mind you) it takes a HALF HOUR to get our two bagel sandwiches. If you're swamped, pause the online ordering. Or maybe, warn the customers who are there in person! A "sorry, we're a little behind!" or "thanks for waiting!" would have gone a long way. 40+ minutes is absurd and your customer service is non-existent. read more

I ordered brobagel for the first time this weekend and I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews! To start with the everything bagel was amazing and COVERED in everything seasoning. We ordered two bagel sandwiches, a bacon egg and cheese and the hot Doug's atomic bagel. The bacon in the bacon egg and cheddar was cooked perfectly. I also ordered a side of chive cream cheese and added to my sandwich, the cream cheese was delicious and full of flavor. Ordered 1 bagel ahead of time online, showed up 15 minutes later when it was "supposed to be ready". Proceeded to then wait outside in the freezing cold snow & rain for over an hour. People that came after me received their much larger orders before me. There was no system in place for what orders they were making, none of it made sense. Aside from the spicy aspect of the sausage & the seasonings from the everything bagel this is tasteless. The egg & cheese have zero flavor. As much as food cost these days I don't have time for this.
