We stopped here for lunch on the way back from the Provo Airport. It is quaint and reminds me of mom and pop places from my youth. We ordered the special of the day (bacon ranch burger) and their specialty steak sandwich. The burger was juicy, had good flavors, and fresh condiments. The steak sandwich was good, but not earth shattering. They provided generous portions of fries that were well seasoned and yummy. Service was friendly and quick. I have really been interested in coming to this place as I pass it almost every day. I finally made the decision but I was a little disappointed. I ordered the Steak Everything and there was a pretty small amount and of meat. I would comfortably say there was less than 1/4 cup of meat in my sandwich. The fries were really good, customer service was good, and the prices are fair but I hope I'm not alone on this when I say when I order a steak sandwich I'm expecting a good portion of meat. Especially for a philly style sandwich. I honestly will have a hard time justifying going back, or at the very least ordering another Philly. read more

We like to call it "The OK Steak". It's not great, it's OK. It's a good place to go if you're in the area and need a cheese steak fix, but other than that I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. The cheese steaks are decent, but the flavor is lacking at times. Sometimes it just needs some salt, other times I can't put my finger on what's missing. The fries are actually really good. It's my favorite part of the meal here. The fry sauce is also very good but you have to pay extra if you want more than one little cup. The restaurant itself is a little stuffy, and sometimes I get the perception it's a little dirty. The nice this is they have a drive through if you don't have time to go in and sit down. read more

I have eaten alot here over the years. Today the sandwich had some kind of filler in it. I ordered a Steak and Everything. I am pretty sure the filler was tuna. I have been dining at The Great Steak Grill since I was a small child. Their fries and shakes are amazing and have been for as long as I can remember. The employees are great and remember their regulars. Although I dine in often, I don't have a "usual" because I love everything on their menu. As far as their menu options go, they aren't too diverse. The Great Steak mainly offers sandwich and fry combos, along with shakes and a daily special. That shouldn't bother you at all if you know what you're getting into before you go. Everything is always made fresh and you never have to wonder if the employees care about their patrons - they will show you that they do! They are very attentive and are happy to be there. I don't think I have ever received less than excellent service while here. I would definitely classify The Great Steak as a mom and pop restaurant. The drive through window is rudimentary at best, with a bell that dings when you drive over it and a small-ish window in a hallway that they pass food through. But it definitely has it's charm. Friendly staff and nice low prices. Nice small-town atmosphere. There are several great fish options in addition to the land-bound meat, and rad clam chowder too. Really good fries and onion rings, and the bread tops things off beautifully. There are a ton of desserts too (shakes, malts, slushes, ice cream, floats) but we were so full that we couldn't try them. Definitely coming back soon. read more

The food literally made my intestines bleed with extreme pain. I have diverticulitis & onions are a trigger that causes great pain & inflammation + bleeding. I ordered a steak & everything minus onions, ate 1/2 sandwich & noticed onions in the 2nd half. I addressed the waitress & asked for 1/2 off my meal price, since I had eaten 1/2 of the sandwich. The waitress came back & took my plate to "show the owner", then brought it back & stated that the owner said there were no onions. Everyone at the table pointed at the obvious onions in the sandwich that was brought back to me. Not worth arguing with the owner about it. Solid cheesesteak with quick friendly service...what more can you ask for. Maybe extra fry sauce if it's to go. We had a few everything's, hot veg and big daddy. Big daddy had ham mush cheese and onions, with a great beefy flavor that filled me up. All of the rolls were fresh tasting with great texture. I've been going to the Great Streak Grill since childhood and it's always been good. As an adult though, I appreciate it more. I had my first Philly Cheese steak sandwich there and have loved that sandwich pretty much everywhere now, but the Great Streak has the best. The bread is fresh and soft, the onions, mushrooms and peppers are sauteed perfectly with just the right amount if cream cheese with yummy steak. They also have a lot of other delicious options. The turkey sandwich with avocado is good too. The onion rings and fries are golden brown and crispy, perfectly fried and the yummy fry sauce just make them better. At first I was really excited to see this place as there are not a lot of Mom and Pop kind of restaurants around any more. Only one person who told me she was the assistant manager was working at the time and she welcomed me and I asked her if I could see a menu. She handed me one and offered some recommendations to which I ordered a patty melt and fries which tasted really yummy. I asked if they had milkshakes and she said they did but she did not have any dessert menus. She then walked off and when she came back she saw there were a few other customers that walked in without any further word about the milk shakes. When she walked back where I was sitting I asked her what kind of milk shakes they had because I wanted to get one. To this she rolled her eyes and said that she was busy and could not help me because she had to take care of other customers. I walked out for a minute then walked back deciding to talk to a manager. Another employee came which may or may not have been a manager to talk to me and I told her my concerns to which she smirked and asked if that was all. My wife and I had family from out of town over this weekend and had heard good things about this place. Seeing as it was just a few minutes away we brought everyone over. Food was incredible out of the 7 people we got 6 different meals and everyone loved it. I personally got the special that day which was the jalapeño popper steak sandwich. It was so freaking delicious and the price was excellent for the quality. I would highly recommend people give this place a try! We live not far from this place, and we've passed by dozens of times, saying "we should try that place!" Tonight we were originally intending to go to Subway for a quick dinner, but the line was out the door. We decided to try Great Steak, and we're really glad we did. We ordered the Steak & everything, the chicken Malibu, and the BBQ pulled pork sandwiches. Also clam chowder. It totaled $23. We took it home and realized we had A LOT of food. We fed 3 adults. Service was very quick for not-fast-food on Saturday night. We liked everything we ordered. Which is unusual when we try a new place. There was a little too much onion/green pepper on the steak sandwich, but that is just my taste. We also found some bone in the pulled pork. But the fries are my favorite kind. I finally tried this place. Had the steak and everything and it was good. But I also tried the papa burger or something like that and it was fantastic. Staff was awesome. Stayed on Provo last night and happened to eat here. My partner had the philly delux (I think that was the name) and we both had the clam chowder. He enjoyed the sandwich and we both give two thumbs up on the chowder. After a pleasant visit with Becky, we went to pay ou bills and I noticed some rather large slices of banana bread staring at me. The Great Steak & Grill is home to some of my favorite food in the Valley for some of the best prices in the Valley. Heck, I even love the people there! They start feeling like old friends! Their daily lunch specials will have even the hungriest of starving college kids feeling great, without breaking the bank. Plus its not some hipster hangout or pretentious pit. And it is SOOOO GOOOOOOD. I'm having a hard time not going there and getting myself a Steak & Everything with fries and a drink right this very minute! Oh man, and their clam chowder when its cold outside could warm your soul. Oh and fish and chips! So good! Don't even look at the desert menu or you'll be there all night ordering everything on it. Well I just got done eating lunch there, and I am extremely happy, full, and satisfied. My wife and I had the signature sandwich as well as the Philly Cheese steak, and they were amazing! The steak, peppers, mushrooms, cheese, and bread were all very flavorful and very complimentary of one another. The fries were really good too. If you want a really great ride, go for the ribs on Friday evenings. They are smoked all day, and the meat literally falls off the bones!
