    Panettone French Toast
    Eliza R.

Laurel is a beautiful restaurant with some good (but not incredible) food. The patio dining area is beautiful with an amazing view. We got brunch there and the lavender iced latte was amazing - the lavender flavor wasn't too overpowering. I got the panettone French toast which was okay - I like that it came with bacon and the sauce on top was delicious, but the French toast itself didn't taste great because I think the flavors of panettone just don't go well in a French toast recipe.

The drive into this place makes you feel like you're in Tuscany just stunning. The Laurel is beside the Hotel Viata. The decor is modern with Italian artwork and textiles. Service was outstanding we had the pleasure of Luis taking care of us. Food hit the spot for a lunch date great taste and portion size. We will be back for dinner and a spa day . Will update with more photos of keep your eyes peeled guys.

I attended a beautiful yelp event here. And I will absolutely be back to enjoy a cocktail, take pictures and share some delicious bites with my friends. Definitely a hidden gem that you will not regret visiting. Lovely, courteous staff and immaculate attention from the bar staff and servers.

    Brunch Burger

This review is regarding brunch. The lemon ricotta pancakes were outstanding, fluffy pillows of delight topped with berries and the delectable bourbon maple syrup. The "Vista Brunch Burger" was also very good, the burger is on a buttered brioche bun and is topped with crisp maple pepper bacon, an egg-your-way (I opted for over-medium), cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions and sliced pickles. The fried have a nice crispy, seasoned coating. The drip coffee is really good and refills were at the ready. We were a larger group and service was good. They had a nice long table set up for us in front of a window. The grounds are beautiful; going in mid-December the trees surrounding the property were in all their Fall glory.

Our dinner experience at Laurel was exceptional. Simo, our server was amazing. He made wonderful recommendations. Steering us towards the Burrata appetizer. I ordered a pasta dish, the ragu with braised beef and veal. It was very good. I would definitely order it again. All the pasta is made in house. My husband ordered the steak with Verde salsa. It was cooked nicely. They also brought out the pistachio ricotta cake with coconut, it was delicious. After dinner, we had time to kill. We wanted to soak in the views and incredible ambience, so we took a drink, and walked to the outdoor couches. We just sat and enjoyed the evening. Both of us forgot we were in Austin. If you're looking for a mini vacation, even if it's just for the dinner hour, take the gorgeous drive, enjoy really good service, live music, amazing views, and ambience, your partner. This dinner was not lost on me. One I will re-create time and time again...

    One lonely pancake
    Celena S.

Looking for a spot that combines cute Instagram aesthetics with a side of culinary disaster? Look no further! My cappuccino was the shining star - hot, frothy, and actually tasty. Now, onto the lemon ricotta pancakes saga - the first attempt tasted like a regrettable encounter with lemon-scented cleaning supplies. I summoned the bravery to have my husband try it, and it was a unanimous "nope." As I awaited my pancake rescue mission, I engaged in a full-on fruit fly battle. Those little buggers were on a mission to conquer every crumb in the joint. After an agonizing 25 minutes, a lone pancake emerged. At this point, my patience was thinner than the pancakes, especially since there were only 3 other souls in the entire restaurant. I questioned the space-time continuum that allowed a half-hour pancake reconstruction for a grand total of one pancake when it was meant to be two! Summoning the manager involved a time warp of its own - 5 minutes to emerge from the abyss of the kitchen. Frustration peaked, especially considering the customer-to-table ratio was astoundingly low. We decided to make a swift exit, and the waitress, sensing the impending disaster, offered not to charge for the pancakes. My retort? "I wouldn't pay for them anyway." The manager, fashionably late, apologized and acknowledged the pancake mishap. He insisted on boxing up the lonely pancake, but at that point, I was more interested in escaping than embracing a to-go tragedy. I would never ever go back here, nor would I recommend it. For a completely empty brunch place on a Sunday morning, the service sucked, the food was DISGUSTING, and the flies were plentiful.

    Atmosphere

Atmosphere is very posh and nature-y. It feels like you could be in the Italian wine country. Service - waitress was very friendly and kind. - Sizeable appetizers - burrata needs olive oil, more salt, and black pepper. - Calamari and shrimp could be crispier. also needs a lemon and more salt - Beef tenderloin was medium rare but kind of dry - Chilean Salmon was tasty - The pistachio cake was delicious and not too sweet - The donuts were good as well The pistachio cake was my favorite dish.

    Signature Laurel Bloody Mary
    Candice N.

We went to Laurel (inside Hotel Viata) to change things up a bit! It was around 11am on Sunday and we were expecting a hustle and bustle post-church crowd and were pleasantly surprised at how many people WEREN'T here. It was pretty quiet and felt like we were on vacation far away from home. We cozied up to the bar which was super comfortable. There was one bartender who gave us waters and took our drink order. I ordered one of the juices (carrot) and my guy ordered their signature award-winning Bloody Mary. We put in our food order and sat there with our waters for a good 10 minutes... had no idea where the bartender went, but finally he came around the corner with both of our drinks. We almost left. We just assumed there must've been another bar around the corner of the restaurant where he made our drinks. He told us our food would be out promptly and it was, so that eased our mind a little. Food was great!! I had the Barbacoa hash and was in heaven. Boyfriend ordered the bagel with lox which is the entire reason we went here. We also got 10% off our bill for checking in on Yelp. We'd come back for sure!

    Impossible Meatballs
    Stephanie M.

Had a little staycation at Hotel Viata and dined once for Happy Hour and twice for lunch. We are not vegan, but heard the Impossible Meatballs were delicious...annnd they were! A little on the salty side, but with the bread and sauce flavor they were amazing. I will say though we had them during Happy Hour for $12, then had to have them again for lunch for $19 and were served 4 meatballs for HH and 3 for lunch. Not sure what happened there. The Meats by Linz Steakhouse Burger was pretty good and included bacon. Fries were nice and crispy. The Pepperoni and Sopressata Pizza $21 was alright. We added ricotta. Nothing special. The sauce has a good flavor. The Crispy Brussel Sprouts $15 were absolutely delicious!!! The Tuscan Salad $16 was absolutely amazing!!! So fresh and just plain delicious. Although I was a little annoyed with myself that I didn't read the menu correctly on pricing and adding the salmon was an extra $19....sooo that was a $35 salad!!!! A little steep for my liking, but it was totally worth it in the moment. I ate every last bite of that salad! Next time though the salad is sufficient enough with flavor and filling without the salmon. I would give the restaurant 5 stars, but have 4 stars because although the decor of the restaurant was absolutely gorgeous and staff very friendly the wait time for our food and a few ordering mistakes were made. It was really slow when we went to eat during the week. I'm not sure if perhaps they were understaffed, but the wait time for our food made no sense with there not being many guests. Once that improves I would be glad to give 5 stars!

Talk about date night ambiance! We ate here during a getaway honeymoon without a reservation. Simo provided perhaps the best service we received while in Austin. He was so attentive and even brought roses to our table. The food was so delicious! The portion sizes and flavors were brilliant. The kitchen even gifted a slice of cake and macaroons to celebrate us!

Eggs "over medium", breakfast sausages and potatoes.

They're especially known for their Roman-style pizza so I highly recommend giving it a try. As for flavors, you really can't go wrong but the standouts for me were the Potato, Chicken Parm and Lasagna slices. They also serve calzones, New York-style pizza, gelato and wine, so there's truly something for everyone. The pizza is priced by the slice, which makes it easy to mix and match like I did, though you can also order a full pie. I will say this definitely isn't cheap pizza, but you're absolutely paying for quality ingredients and incredible flavor. For a person who does not eat a lot of pizza, this pizza was delicious. The Baldinucci vibe was uniquely European...families sitting outside enjoy pizza and all the trimmings along with friends, colleagues and family members also dining inside. There was a constant stream of customers picking up "to-go" orders as well. While in route, we got a bit lost circling the Randall parking lot twice. Once we reached staff, they were so helpful to point out a major landmark, which helped navigate us to the building. Excellent dining experience...

After giving our keys away we walked into what is a beautiful outside area at Juliet's. It's a nice mix of feeling like you're in downtown Austin but also not. We went inside to request two seats outside and this is unfortunately where everything fell apart. After being seated all the way at the very corner of the restaurant near the entrance, we didn't receive water for 15 minutes. In fact, we had to ask for water, as well as silverware, from a person who was cleaning a table- not a waiter. We didn't order until about 30 minutes after being seated. We noticed that others around us who were dressed nicer for the occasion were receiving service but we were not (jeans and a nice top as opposed to a dressy outfit). This is less of an accusation and more of an observation. It took another waiter noticing that we had not been served to come over and take our order, and that was 5 minutes after we had to flag down a busser to ask for water. The flip side of that whole first part is that the food was pretty good. We got complimentary table bread (after we asked for it since it never came before our main meal) that was soft and went well with the olive oil it came with. For our entrees we got the shrimp scampi and chicken parm. The shrimp scampi was fantastic and light with creamy and bold flavors in-between. The chicken parm was maybe the largest chicken cutlet we've seen given out at a restaurant. Not only was the cutlet massive but it was delicious as well with a nice, light breading and cheese on top. The spaghetti alongside it was a nice touch but this was a true chicken parm entree as it should be. We were offered a complimentary dessert as an apology for the miscues before we ate but turned it down (still good of them to offer). Leaving was easy as the valet was very attentive and quick to get our car. We wish we could say our time at Juliet's was perfect because the setting and food are very nice and a fun change of pace from the surrounding blocks. However, it's difficult to overlook the mistakes made from the jump. We noticed that another table next to us was also experiencing bad service and looked unhappy enough to leave in the middle of their meal/ We're always open to having good food again so hopefully the next time we're here things are different. Just an unfortunate bittersweet taste to what otherwise would have been a fantastic meal.

For dinner, I ordered my go-to rice bowl with coconut-scented rice, seasonal pickles, thai herbs and steak as the protein. They normally served this with Bavette, but the steak was a bit tough and chewy this time. Finished everything off with cheesecake with five spice crumble, yuzu marmalade for dessert. The vibe at the bar was relaxed and lively without feeling overwhelming, and the collab menu felt creative without trying too hard. The ingredients are very thoughtful for a fully developed flavor profile. Just what I would expect from the culinary minds of Tyson Cole and Aaron Franklin. Definitely one of the regulars in my list when craving good cocktails with a casual but elevated food menu.

We came here for a small late lunch during a hot day and this place checked all the boxes. Plenty of seating options and we loved the AC. Both high chairs and booster seats available for kids. The char siew pork belly was very good. Nothing like barbecue pork belly or asian char siew, but somehow they made it work. Chicken karaage was what you would expect, similar to what you get at Japanese places. Portions are big. The sesame rice noodles were highly reviewed but kinda underwhelming. Sauce was surprisingly spicy and the sesame flavor wasn't super obvious. We also tried the rendang beans and rice, which was a creative spin. I enjoyed the curried beans with the fragrant coconut rice. Nice spot to rest, relax, enjoy a meal and drinks. Enjoyed our experience.

How dare they tarnish the name Nicky? My namesake? Nasty, and gross looking. I wish I would've…read moregotten pictures of the gray meatballs I received. They could have put you off your dinner. First, we ordered the lasagna... All cheese no noodle. Uncle Mike(microwave) for sure helped with this dish. And the rigatoni... Which was decent. Noodles were overcooked and probably precooked. Can't say anything bad about the flavor, but there were no noodles! More artichoke than pasta, which was odd. And the spaghetti and meatballs... Bland and flavorless. Newmans Own pasta sauce would've tasted better. The meatballs were scary looking. Gray and frozen(I'm assuming). Not a fan. Then the Porchetta sandwich... If you are forced to go here, get this. Only thing that was okay about this meal. Then the meatballs... HORRID. If you grew up loving the taste of weird looking and tasting food then you'll love this. Swimming in a salty watery sauce(that honestly wasn't that bad), but was off putting and shouldn't ever look that way ever. All the people hyping this place up are lying liars. The service was nice and pleasant, so that's the one star.

A $20 SALAD MADE WRONG!!! Apparently their kitchen staff can't read…read more So I decided tried this place because it's always busy and within walking distance to my house. I was really craving a great salad, so I decided to go in. At first you walk up and order, and then the clerk at the front, like all other places turns the screen around and says "One last question", and then stares at you, while you read their 3 tipping options. So you're standing there, guilted into tipping, by an individual that only pressed a couple of buttons, only to have the kitchen get your order wrong. At an establishment like this, it would be nice if you could tip at the end, after the whole experience, instead of out of obligation at the beginning, because you have an individual begging for it. Anyways. So after I ordered I waited, only to get a $20 salad that had 4 small pieces of chicken and with the Miso dressing which I didn't order. I ordered the Lemon Avocado Vinaigrette which came with no snap peas, when I ordered extra. Then when I finally was able to flag someone down and tell them what had happened, she said "Ok" and went back and got a bowl of snap peas. No "I'm sorry" or "Let us remake it" I wouldn't have had them remake it because I hate wasting food.....but what I hate more is feeling like crap, undervalued and unappreciated. Where was the customer service? If you want a great salad, go here......but don't expect to get what you ordered, after you've been strong armed into tipping, and when you bring it up, expect an eye roll like you're inconveniencing them. I think I'll be taking all my Rollingwood women's group friends, to the new spot for a try......Sweet Green in the HEB parking lot.....or I'll go into HEB and buy a whole rotisserie chicken for $6 and a bag of salad for another $4 and go enjoy two salads at home. For such a casual place, y'all sure act uppity, entitled and as if, you're serving Grey Poupn on top of a Grade A slab of Prime Rib.
