Horrid from start to finish. We're traveling through on HWY 101, got hungry and searched for a place for some breakfast. We found this place with its 4 stars and 200+ reviews, so we headed on in. First of all, we noticed immediately that it was freezing cold inside and mind you, my husband, 5 year old daughter and I were each wearing warm layers, so it's not like we were underdressed. There were only two other tables of people there, both of which were wearing their coats as they ate as well (a couple of them even had their parka hoods on while eating). We sat ourselves in a booth, as the sign suggested and were soon brought a couple of menu's, that were plopped on the table with no words, by the most unfriendly woman. We attempted cheerful greetings and received stone faced silence in return. The entire interaction with this woman was rude, from beginning to end. We ordered a coffee, a hot cocoa, a couple of omelettes and a bacon waffle to share. The coffee was BITTER; really bitter. The omelettes arrived with unmelted cheese, swimming in a runny bed of condensation. The accompanying potatoes were cold and somehow an odd mix of both burnt and raw at the same time. The waffle was pale and cold and we literally shivered our way through the entire meal. I used the restroom and the toilet was filthy with deep yellow urine running down the front of the bowl. Just nasty. I do not understand how anyone gave this place a good review. If you want to be served an overpriced, terribly executed breakfast, served by an extremely rude, Pet Rock of a human being...this is surely your spot. Otherwise, find a McDonalds up the road. read more

Place is cute... the staff is very nice... but my food was a massive letdown. I had been craving huevos rancheros for days, and between finding a place that everyone was raving about on Yelp and one that had my coveted plate on the menu, I figured I'd hit pay dirt... until it arrived at the table. Corn tortillas were store-bought and sad, everything was just kinda dropped on top with minimal flavor, and the plate looked like it had plenty of room for more of something/anything on it. We ordered French Toast and a chef salad. The french toast didn't seem to be made there it looked like it was frozen and warmed up. The Cobb salad, it was descent but for $19 I was expecting for it to be amazing. The staff was attentive. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things. Would give them a try again. read more

This place really could have had 5 stars. We arrived just as they opened at 9am during the week. Very cool atmosphere and an amazingly friendly staff. The problem: Of the 4 "benny's" ordered, all had cold (very cold) potatoes and of the 8 poached eggs, 5 were hard poached, no runny yolk at all. See the pic. The "Backwoods Benny" with the bacon gravy was really, really good but I don't like cold food and expect a poached egg to be done right. If I can do it at home, an experienced line cook should have no problems. Oh, and if you are craving an avocado on your benny, beware: $2 additional will get less than an 1/8th of an avocado (two tiny thin mandolin slices). read more

Great food! The outdoor dining area is cute, as long as it's not too cold that day. We loved our breakfasts and the coffee. The sausage and potatoes were amazing. Mimosas and bloody Mary's as well for people who enjoy those beverages with brunch. read more

Menu selection has no pancakes. Huh? What brealfast place doesn't have pancakes? 14 tables its small. Came at 1 pm didn't have to wait but can imagine the wait during breakfast hours. Ordered 2 egg breakfast with sausage. Ordered the pork chop breakfast Pork chop was boneless and good. It was bland so add salt and pepper. The home potatoes look burned and yes they were burned. See pic. 2 egg breakfast with tater tots extra $1 for the tots and extra $2 to add sausage 3 links. 2 egg breakfast was typical. I always based my judgement if I would come back. Update review... I really have loved this place in the past, and it has been one of our staples..but today it was all off. I dont really know why. It wasnt as busy as its been before. We made a reservation just in case. Got here, on time, and ordered chicken fried steak for her, and a wedge salad app and omlette for me. First off everything looked great except the salad which was just lettuce wedge, some bacon crumbles, and blue cheese crumbles with a tomato garnish... it was dry with no dressing. And frankly bland and difficult to eat. My potatoes were over cooked with no bite. And not seasoned.. just bland. My omlette looked great but again was bland as if the eggs were not salted or seasoned. The veggies were lightly sauteed but not cooked through. But the cheese was melted. Her chicken fried steak was so chewy and tough that she simply did not eat her meal 2 bites max. We told the waitress and asked if it was tenderized at all , but she didnt know. She gave us a 10% discount on the steak but didnt offer to comp the plate. I found that almost offensive. Comp it or dont. And all the 5 star reviews above are a bit misleading. As there are absolutely no 5 strar restaurants in humboldt county, not one. We had held the green lilly high at a four star for some time, but with todays mess and no courtesy i had to rewrite. We came back here twice during our stay in Eureka. The staff were all so attentive and proactive. We didn't have to ask for boxes or refills because they were always ahead. The food was delicious and of value. We got the club sandwich, eggs breakfast (biscuits were yummy), and eggs Benedict. We also ordered some food to take on our road trip. read more

Went here for brunch- had the vegan french toast and avocado sandwich both were delicious so was the hot chocolate! My friends ordered a lot of stuff so almost everything was tried from their menu and everyone enjoyed their food. They ordered - The flight mimosas, the special french toast, the brie sandwich, the florentine, the French onion soup. Chicken Fried Pork Chop and it was heavenly--perfect portion size and the blend of texture and taste was as smooth as music and dancing. would recommend to anyone who appreciates modernistic Art Deco interior and high quality food. Wow! What a wonderful breakfast we just had at The Greene Lily! I really enjoyed my breakfast burger with the fries. I'm not a gravy eater but I found myself 'dunking' my fries in the gravy cup until it was empty....delish! My gf loved her Eggs Benedict (lemme tell ya, this gal is an Eggs Benedict snob). Said they were in her top 3 all time and that's saying something! Excellent coffee also. Our server was a pro, quick to refill our coffee and made sure we had everything we needed. Was visiting my sister and decided to have brunch before I leave. Once we sat down, the waitress took forever to get our orders. I was patient and understood they were busy. However food wise the quality wasn't great. Chicken fried pork chop was super thick, and soggy. Other places that have chicken fried steaks were thin and crispy even with the gravy on top. Tasty and filling food with decent options. I would order the Backwoods Benny again. I usually prefer the English muffin for eggs Benedict's, but with the bacon gravy and fried chicken, I couldn't say no. The biscuits were actually cooked really well anyway. The potatoes were pleasantly seasoned with thyme. My friend got the gluten free French toast which was a little expensive and didn't look entirely too appealing, but she said they were decent. Had to sit outside in the cold because they were so busy but it was worth it. Our waitress, Charity, was such a sweetheart. She went out of her way to make us comfortable. I stopped in for a late breakfast on a Friday morning. The server quickly checked in on me to see if I needed anything. She delivered a hot cup of coffee that was nicely brewed, perfect temp, and with a smile. I ordered the California eggs Benedict and enjoyed my coffee while I read the news. My food was ready quickly and the server pleasantly offered me hot sauce. I'm a huge cholula fan and when places just have Tabasco it drives me nuts. They had a great hot sauce selection including cholula! The eggs benedict were stellar. The biscuit was perfect, fluffy, fresh, and well seasoned. The eggs were perfectly cooked, warm and so tasty! The potatoes tasted fresh and well seasoned. My only small bit of critique is that I'm an avocado snob and the avocado needed one more day to be perfectly ripe but it was still a nice addition. We came to this place when it was fairly empty. They sat us down almost right away and we were just waiting for someone to ask us if we wanted water or order something to drink. As time went by more people started getting sat down and they were taking their orders already, while we weren't even asked if we wanted water. At this point, we had been waiting for a while and still nothing. It wasn't until I asked one of the ladies working there if she could bring us some water. As we waited for our water, more people came in and they got helped right away. A lot of the people that came after us got their drink order and their food order taken right away, while yet again, I had to flag down the lady to take our order. We had a great dinner at the Green Lily a couple of days ago. They have remodeled the restaurant. Much brighter. Painted the walls a loverly blue green color. Service was very responsive. Really nice selection of food at this chill restaurant. Very friendly staff and they have many different flavors of mimosas including a 6 flavor flight! Each item on the menu is a good combination of foods including things like the "backwood benny" (which is a biscuit and chicken variation of eggs benedict) or a chicken fried pork chop. Though it seems like this place could be a bit hit or miss.. One of my poached eggs was solid, the other barely runny and the potatoes were barely warm. On the other hand everything had good flavors and generally I could tell this was just a bit of a miss day and if it was the hit day the food would be delicious. Despite a couple flaws I enjoyed the food and especially the mimosa flight in a nice environment with friendly staff. I'll expect tasty food but won't be disappointed if they don't hit a home run. read more

We used to really like this place, but had a disappointing breakfast today. The gravy on the Biscuits and Gravy was oddly sweet. Same with the hollandaise sauce on the Benedict, plus the breakfast potatoes on the side were cold. Greene Lily seemed it would be good for a casual diner-like lunch....when we arrived, there were only a few customers outside and two tables taken inside so the place was not busy. We were all disappointed in the food. We had a BLT, a Philly sandwich of somekind, a chicken ceasar wrap and something else (sorry I can't remember).
