A hidden little gem in Lihue. It's set back behind a house, feels very private and secluded in a good way - meaning it doesn't have swarms of tourists. Food might be good. Don't know. Called to place an order. No answer. Called again got an answering machine. Left a message on the answering machine with the order. Email the restaurant with the order and asked them to confirm. No call back or email. Went to the restaurant to check on the order and the person at the counter looked at me as if I was crazy leaving a message or emailing them. Said very bluntly did not have the order and if I wanted to order it would take 1/2 hour. Person behind me said it was "typical" and you always takes a long time. Not how you run a business. On our fifth day on Kauai we were ready for some flavorful and healthy food that didn't break the bank. We usually eat really clean and also love gourmet food. Greenery Cafe is awesome! I had the special, ahi salad with vegan Caesar dressing on the side and my husband had the fried fish plate which was ahi so lightly fried with Cajun spices on it that it was clearly still super healthy. The side of cornbread was cake-like he said. I asked for a side of gluten free bread which tasted like dessert to me with jam on it...ahh. We came here (parents, brother + spouse, hubby + 2kids) after landing in Lihue. My mom has health issues so we wanted to eat something on the healthier side. Despite being healthy, I have to say, the food was very fresh and delicious. My mom, who is a picky eater, liked the food and they were very accommodating when we asked them to not add salt to my mom's order. Between all of us, we ordered the organic chicken wrap, BBQ organic chicken plate, Ahi plate, and Mahi plate. They were all good. For the sides, we tried the collard greens (flavorful), purple potato salad (yums), kale salad (fresh, light, wonderful dressing), and corn bread (delish). Highly recommend this place, however, be prepared for a long wait. There were 8 of us and it took about 45min - 1hr to get our food ready. We didn't mind though, as we watched the birds and admired the garden while relaxing/waiting. The staff/owners were very kind and attentive. Will definitely come back on our next trip. read more

I gave 1 star because the food was delicious. Other than that we were very disappointed. I was told I'd have to wait 45 minutes to an hour just for a chicken salad. I asked for an avocado wrap and was told the same thing, so we were unable to order what we really wanted. I can't understand why something that should already be prepped take 45 minutes to an hour. However the people in front of me were served very fast even though they ordered hot meals, (they were tourists) it seems if you're a local you must take a back seat. I also noticed a guy who came after me was told he'd only have to wait 15 minutes (another tourist). The woman taking my order seemed nice, but I just couldn't understand the reasoning behind it. She told us to try order ahead next time by calling. This was our first time and our last. It's not fun to sit outside in warm weather waiting 45 minutes to an hour for cold food while tourists are served in a timely manner. Although the food was good, the service was the worst ever. Delicious, fresh food at its best. I actually saw the chef walk out to the backyard to pick some fresh herbs for our meal. We used the yelp deal they had, but it would be a great value either way. My boyfriend got the BBQ chicken wrap, I got the turkey pasta with salad and we also had some really refreshing iced tea with basil and mint. Both meals were tasty and filling (we ate every last bite), but we didn't leave feeling grossly full. I think it's because everything we had was so fresh--just didn't have any sort of greasy component. I think I really liked our meal because it was healthy but not bland like some health foods can be. Added points for using all compostable utensils, plates, and cups. They're located very close to Lihue airport and easy to find. Relaxed vibe with seating outside in a lush area. The owner and chef are super nice and welcoming. We will definitely be stopping here again on our way to the airport going home for our last meal in Kauai! read more
