This review is for the Islip location, which just opened in my neighborhood. I could not find the new location on Yelp! I ordered a Build Your Own Bowl with all my favorite things and it was yummy enough. I wanted a little more flavor and in retrospect, should have asked for a little more lemon juice. It tasted like it was left out but I didn't mention. Pro tip: If you like your salad chopped, I recommend you ask them to chop it smaller. My friend ordered hers chopped and it was barely chopped. So I was glad I was able to intercept mine before it was prepared. I don't like it finely chopped but I like the lettuce to be bite-sized, not big pieces. I mean, what's the point of asking for it chopped? Lots of options for add-ins. Most of my friends liked their salads too. Space was lovely, super clean, and the manager who helped us was great. I wish I got her name but she had impressive biceps. Looking at the photos of The Greenery in Sayville, you could say the Islip location is an annex. It's a much smaller space with seating for about 13. I wish the Greenery much success in my neighborhood. Solid eatery for fresh salads, bowls and smoothies. This is the kind of healthy and tasty lunch spot I wish every town had. Stopped in after my haircut next door and enjoyed a delicious My Blue Heaven salad (blue cheese, beets, quinoa, herb-roasted sweet potato, pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries, walnuts, arugula, honey mustard). I did sub blackened chicken for grilled chicken...but I believe I was still given grilled chicken. The Caesar dressing was very good! I also added cucumber and avocado for an additional cost. I was only given very little avocado, which I don't believe warranted the upcharge. The salad was very filling. We really enjoyed this little cafe. It's a new place for us and since hubby and his brother got their hair cut next door, we decided to go for lunch all of us. They had a great selection of bowls, salads and wraps, lots of healthy choices and a great mixture of ingredients. We were all really happy with our meals and enjoyed them a lot. This place is pretty new so I won't knock them on little things. The staff were still getting trained when me and my wife ordered our food which didn't matter to us. I created my own salad and my wife created her own rice bowl. The portions were pretty good for the price. It's tough to get full off of salad alone so I'd come back for lunch but not dinner. The service was rude to me, workers intentionally laughing chopping the board on counter with no food, where I couldn't try to hear myself think to enjoy the food. I couldn't hear music not calming environment.. my first time there and knowing the owners it upset me the workers were so disrespectful and not honoring the place or bosses.. beautiful setup and idea.. not polite or welcoming the staff , I got a burrito bowl and 3 items weren't even in it. love the the decor and idea ! bringing attention for the owners; hard working individuals.. As the girl behind the counter was preparing food , I noticed that there was a bug that landed on the food . I told the girl and she very nicely threw out what the bug had landed on and then restarted to make the salad. I think that the food containers which the meals are prepared from which are not covered should be kept covered to prevent insects and bacteria. The food staff that prepares the meals are very nice and very cordial. There are some tables inside and there is a few outdoor tables, but the tables outside are practically too small to even eat on. The food itself was very very good with lots of choices. I would definitely go back, but would make it a takeout meal. read more

Price is a bit higher than I would like to pay for a meal, but the bowl is so jam packed that it easily can feed two or cover two meals. Upon walking into The Greenery, I was impressed with the atmosphere. The whole thing looks beautiful like a magazine picture and the space is bright, open and welcoming. They have a variety of salads and bowls with options for everyone. We were a little disappointed that the smoothies were not yet available but we understand they will be available starting next week and will be back to try. I got the nourishing bowl and my husband got the burrito bowl but he subbed out the dressing for miso mayo. We both wound up adding hot sauce to our bowls (they have a nice little collection to choose from) not because the bowls were bland but because we like a little bit of heat. Our meals were good although I wish the portions were a little bigger. Adding greens to the bowl might also bolster the portion size. Everything was fresh and tasty. While the store itself is great, the location leaves a little to be desired as parking is either out front on the street or I would imagine you'd have to park across the street at the train station. I started going when first opened and it was great. Now several vegetables are raw that are listed as roasted. Too hard to eat. Especially the Brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes and cauliflower. 3 times now I requested Avacado to get home and find none in my salad. I have never gotten a salad that was complete without something missing. I attribute this to the young girls talking while making the orders. I don't know why things changed as far as the raw vegetables. But I am shopping around for a new place to go to even though they are within walking distance from my house. I truly wanted to love this place but I've tried 3 times now and each time was equally as disappointing. The friends I went with all agreed and said the same thing. There is great potential but close to everything I've tried had little to no flavor with the exception of the BBQ jackfruit. At the very least I wish they'd add salt. The blackened chicken was so bland, fire roasted corn tasted like defrosted frozen corn (not sweet, no flavor, no sign of fire roasting), the avocado lime dressing had practically no taste and no hint of lime, the sumac caramelized onions were barely cooked and again had zero flavor, the burrito bowl was dry and full of mostly plain brown rice. Portions seem to be a decent size but what does that matter if it doesn't taste good? Here's to hoping they improve. They had a great idea and a great spot but sadly it's just not worth it. read more

I ran across The Greenery on Doordash yesterday for dinner, and OMG I was not disappointed. I ordered the 'The Greenery' with pesto shrimp and sprouts, avocado, chick peas, etc. The shrimp was absolutely delicious and the star of the bowl, but it was all yummy. I went to the cafe itself today to try the 'Veghead' bowl with kale, caramelized onions, sweet potatoes and had to add the pesto shrimp...because delicious. This cafe is a gem and the employees are super nice. Definitely will be going back and definitely recommend. read more
