It's time for lunch today with one of my friend. Unfortunately, the restaurant we were originally going to was closed already. We found this hidden spot with our friends and yelp. This was a hidden gem for sure. This restaurant is tucked away in a small strip mall definitely you can say a hole in the wall restaurant. We both got the lunch special before 3 PM and there's plenty to say about this place. The inside looks like a classic late 90s a 2000 Chinese restaurant nothing to write home about but clean and well maintain. The portions were huge each entrée came with either steam rice, fried rice or chow mein. The charming itself reminded me of the old School chow mein that I used to get as a kid really thick style noodles that is stirfry with great wok hey ( breath of wok ) the great smoky taste you get from stirfry that is cooked in a high intense heat. Both of us got different entrées. I got a tofu and garlic sauce with chow mein and my friend. She got Mongolian beef with fried rice. Both of the meals came with a soup your classic hot sour soup and a veggie eggroll. Both the dishes tasted delicious, but the most impressive thing it's about the portion of this place. The portion itself is good enough to fill yourself at lunch with an extra portion you're able to take home for dinner. Overall, this dining experience at this new lunch spot was great good service, good food and even better company. Definitely would come back to the spot for lunch again and dinner. Do you know what time we were there at this place was getting tons of business for food to go so definitely no food. It's old like some hole in the wall spot. And what is amazing is that your local hole in the wall Chinese food that serves a community and is constantly busy with tons of order to pick up to go while still having many customers stay and dine in. Definitely found a hidden gem today for lunch. Are you ready for some Chinese food come on? Let's go have lunch together. I got a spot.!

General Tso's Chicken, rice and chow mein, chicken wing and shrimp!

I ordered a lunch special and sampler appetizer! The food was delicious and the portions were large. I had the Tuos chicken, half fried rice and half chow mein. I enjoyed my late lunch. I went and picked my my order it was on time and the staff was friendly. The restaurant was inviting and very clean! I highly recommend this local business.

Combo A: BBQ pork chow mein with sweet and sour pork & Combo B: rice/chow mein with Mongolian beef and walnut prawns

I decided to take my partner to Yummy Restaurant today. It was his first time, and only my second. The last time I went was way before COVID, and I noticed the place looks much cleaner and more put-together now, which was a nice improvement. We ordered their combo dinner for one person, and the total came out to $56 for just the two of us before tip. For a lower-tier restaurant, that felt expensive. The portion size was big, which helps justify the price a little. It would honestly be upsetting if it wasn't a generous portion given how much they're charging. On the bright side, the food was tasty. The sweet and sour pork and the prawns both had a perfectly crispy outside, which was really satisfying and delicious. You can tell the food is prepared with care, and the overall quality is definitely a step up from places like Asia Delight or Panda Express. Still, I have to say that Good Neighbor offers a much better deal. There, you can get a $36 combo where you choose any three items--beef, pork, vegetables, seafood, rice, noodles--from a large list, and the price stays the same no matter what you pick. If you want more than three, it's just $12 per extra item. That setup is clear, flexible, and much more affordable. What really bothered me at Yummy was how unclear the pricing was for the combo dinner. If you're offering a special, the price should be consistent, especially when you're letting customers choose between beef, pork, or seafood. Instead, the price changes depending on what you pick, which made the ordering process confusing and frustrating. Also, like many restaurants nowadays, Yummy skimps on the walnut prawns, which is always a letdown when you're already paying a higher price. Overall, it was a decent experience. The food is flavorful, the ambiance has improved, and the portions are generous, but the confusing pricing and high cost compared to similar spots make it hard to justify returning often.

I'm on a mission to find some General Tso's chicken. Yelp came through on this pick. The sauce is hotter and not as sweet as I am used to but it works. A very balanced mix of savory and sweet. Lunch meal came with a veggie spring roll. I was surprised by the lock of pepper! So you've been alerted. :) I'm definitely putting Yummy on my list and visiting again!

Hole in the wall. Food is delicious. The owner is the cook and his wife is very courteous. Price is very reasonable.

    Yummy restaurant menu , updated!

All of the food was great! Egg rolls did taste a bit under seasoned, I would assume that's how they are supposed to be due to authentic Chinese cuisine! Very large portions for the food , I got the combo which was regular rice, orange chicken and 2 egg rolls! The food was absolutely fresh which I loved , the combo amounted to 25 dollars , a big buck for your bang! If you want to have a dine in experience that is also great! Customer service was excellent, quick and easy!

    Curry Chicken

It's Friday night in Hayward, and I have a craving for Chinese Curry Chicken w/ rice. Who around here makes that? I remember a small chinese restaurant on Tennyson called the Yummy Restaurant. They stay open until until 930pm, so I went there to checkout the menu. Listed under "Chicken," it says Curry Chicken. Everyone has a different variation of this dish, so I decided to try their version. It was ready in 10-mins. It's a big entree that can serve several people. The curry flavor isn't super strong. There's tender pieces of chicken, tender veggies like carrots, onions, and zucchini. Maybe some potatoes too. But there's lots of gravy, so it goes well with rice to create a hearty meal. ( See Photos) I took my food to go, but they have indoor dining too.

The staff told her we wouldn't be seated unless our entire party was present. About 4 people were late, but they still seated us. The restaurant kind of felt old and somewhat dirty. But hey, it was my dad's birthday. I wasn't paying for lunch. We occupied three tables and ordered from both the lunch and dim sum menus. I enjoyed dishes like shiu mai, pork buns, walnut shrimp, fried rice, fish, and fried noodles. The sesame balls were tasty, but the service was slow, and I had to follow up on our order. I didn't care for the bun with the hot dog or the other noodle dish. Later that day, my daughter mentioned she had found hair in a pork bun and that her cousin had eaten it. She also said every item he picked up had hair on it, which was disappointing. I didn't confirm this with my cousin, but it would have been helpful to have someone inform the staff. Fortunately, no one at our table found hair in their food, which was a relief. Overall, the food that I ate was fine, but I wouldn't make a special trip from San Jose to visit again...unless it's a fambam family treat.

We confirmed by the response to our tea experience. We ordered Jasmine tea for 2. When it arrived in a heavy pot, we let it steep for 2 minutes before we poured it into cups. It was luke warm, slightly warmer than tap water & it tasted like water. We requested that it be replaced. It was taken away by our server with a frown on her face, no apologies. Another server later walked by & explained it would be a couple of minutes. When the pot returned, we put a timer for 3 minutes. Now it was hot, but not tea hot, but still lacking Jasmine flavor. By this time, none of the servers checked in on us about the tea. We finally called our server. She explained that the manager's instructions were to put 1 tsp of tea leaves. If we want it darker, we should steep it longer. We did. That didn't work. Still no tea flavor. She then offered to take it off our tab & walked away. She also informed us other patrons had liked the Jasmine tea. She seemed really angry that we brought the problem of the tea to their attention. For the rest of our dining time, no one approached us. We enjoyed the delicious food but put the tea aside. It wasn't replaced or fixed. It took a while to even get the check. Food is good. Interior design is good. Service needs major improvement.
