The service was among the best, most personable, I have experienced. Bobby was our server and even though the restaurant was packed, he made our dinner the best. We are a group of five and we all agreed the food was great, the service was excellent, and we couldn't have made a better choice while visiting. Also, Bobby packed our leftovers with utensils (which the motel doesn't have, I just realized) and extra bread, which I had mentioned was good. Very thoughtful and looking forward to coming back. An excellent small place to eat in this small town. A lot of choices to choose from. I had a fantastic beef sandwich called the Santa Fe sandwich. I recommend to get the tuna melt, I tried it from my friend and it was great. Service here is amazing and very responsive to what you want. The reason why this place isn't ranked a 5 star, is because I feel like some of the portions for some meals are a bit small. The fries are fresh and the onion rings are great. I do recommend coming here if you are driving in town and needs a place to eat good food with excellent service. read more

Clean! Awesome service! Super fresh food for a little diner in Lone Pine...all of the meats are roasted in-house, so you know you can count on it to be tasty and not mystery-meat. French fries were all uniformly perfect. Salad had mixed green greens and so many toppings. I couldn't have been more pleased by this place! 2.75 stars. Stopped here for lunch on the way to Mammoth. Service was friendly, and the place was clean. The patio was nice, and they had their bathrooms open!! The waiter quickly got out order as well as getting the water for us all. Our table ordered a turkey pita, a salad, a California burger, and normal burger, a Philly cheesesteak, and onion rings to share. Here are our thoughts based on what we ordered- 1. The classic burger was nice and fairly juicy. The vegetables were fresh. I enjoyed the french fries as they were fresh out of the fryer and crunchy. The food, though, was a little bland. It would be nice to have a little more flavor, especially for the price we're paying. I was filled and the wait staff was friendly. 2. The California burgers was fine. Flavorful, and was not bad. The mushrooms and onions were a bit cold, and the fries needed some salt. 3. The phillcheesesteak was really good i liked the cheese pressed on the meat, but the onion rings were pretty thin and the fries was bland two and a half stars from JOSH NG 4. The Grill. First of all, couldn't they of been more creative with the name? Just "The Grill"? Anyways, I got the turkey pita which I DO NOT RECOMMEND. It was literally the saddest pita of my life. Turkey was dry, it was not even a full slice! It was like all cut up into these tiny pieces and barely edible. The cheese was equally as terrible as so was the hummus and the pita bread itself. It was some weird whole grain crap that tasted like cardboard. The one positive about the pita was the avocado. Thank goodness. Service was good and the waiter brought everything out promptly and was also very polite. Gordon Ramsey u might wanna check this place out. Overall, not a bad place if you're road tripping. After going on a weekend backpacking trip in the Inyo National Forest, my friends and I decided we wanted burgers as our victory meal and we stumbled upon this restaurant. It was around 4pm and there was only a couple people in the restaurant. The waitress was really nice and she gave me the whole small town vibe where everyone knew each other and was friendly. The restaurant was a good size that seated a good amount of people. Not too small or big. Food: The Grill serves salads, burgers, sandwiches, pastas, seafood, and desserts. I ordered the The California (bacon, sauteed mushrooms, onion and jack) burger and a side of potato salad. All burgers and sandwiches are served with a side of fries, potato salad, cole slaw or beans. The burger was served with the meat, bacon and mushrooms within the buns and the vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes and pickles) on the side. It was pretty good and juicy.You can't really go wrong with a burger like that with all those good stuff in it. I was disappointed by the potato salad though. It was quite bland and I had to add a lot of salt and pepper to it. It wasn't really potato salad-y with that creamy, flavorful texture I wanted. I felt like I was just eating potatoes, not a potato salad. I wished I got fries instead! I would give this place 3.5 stars for its friendly and fast service. However, the food didn't really WOW me. I was working in the area and got "The Grills Salmon" to go so I could eat at the motel. The salmon was delicious, I got veggies and mashed potatoes with it and they were very good and my side salad with blue cheese was just what I was looking for. The lady at the restaurant was super sweet and nice. If eating out of styrofoam in a motel was excellent, I'm sure it's even better in the restaurant. Highly recommend! read more

So it could just be I have been living right. This summer has been filled with good choices. I credit much of it to my fellow Yelpers. After reading reviews and running short on time, I decided to call ahead and place a burger order to go. We were a bit too early for lunch so they gave us hash-browns instead of fries. The hash-browns made us decide to try their breakfast the next time we go through Lone Pine. Lunch was ready to go and all the to go items were included. The dinning room looked clean and the server at the cash register was very helpful. The food was a little expensive for 3 burgers, but we just didn't want MackyDees or Carl's. They made sure all our drinks were full and made casual chit chat about our travels up Whitney Food was cafe/dinner fare. I had a burger with pineapple in it. It was nice and juicy. The fries were crispy and not oily. The food was not elaborate, but well presented. Good food and good service makes this place stand out from the other places around Lone Pine. Great for before and after hikes up the mountain. Staff wasnt pushy to for those who wanted to relax and linger for a bit. read more

After a full day of driving we had dinner here. This is our second time in. We were greeted upon entry, and the wait staff brought us menus. Our drink order was taken promptly. There were about 6 other tables of guests. Its not a big place, there is a nice size patio, where we sat on our last fisit. We had been here a year previous. I ordered the burger that had onions bacon and mushrooms and jack cheese. I think it was called the California Burger, I ordered it with french fries, because there was an option of also potato salad or cole slaw. It wasn't long of a wait at all and when it came out it was delicious and I really enjoyed it. Our waitress returned to see if we wanted dessert but we just couldn't. She came by with our check and said whenever your ready she would cash us out up at the register. I enjoyed this and thought Id post a review since I didn't on our first visit. read more

My wife and I stopped here for dinner on our way up to Mammoth for the weekend. In almost every way, it was exactly what you'd expect from a quick dinner in a small, mountain town. Except for our waiter, Bobby. He was unquestionably the highlight of our day - genuinely friendly, exceptionally personable and truly likable in a way that's rather uncommon these days. He caught wind that we were on our way to Mammoth to celebrate our anniversary, and returned to the table a few minutes later with a complimentary dessert to go with his own personal serenade in Italian. ... And, most importantly, a piece of bacon for our dog, Roxy. If you're stopping through and can't decide where to eat, the food here is pretty decent compared to the other options around town. And if you're lucky enough to land Bobby as your server, you'll unquestionably have a memorable experience. read more

Perfect little place to grab a bite while we charged the Tesla (supercharger was only less than a 10 minute walk away). I ordered the jalapeño burger with fries and a side of ranch. Hubby ordered their bbq pulled pork sandwich and a side of onion rings. Everything was delicious! Especially the onion rings! And food came out fairly quick. In and out in about half an hour. And Gerri Lyn was the sweetest! And the lady at the front (didn't catch her name) was very helpful in giving us tips on what the local tourist spots were. All in all, a pleasant experience. We stopped here on a whim on our way from mammoth to LA and were incredibly impressed by the food and the service. Our waitress was such a breath of fresh air after sitting in the car for so long and the food was sooo good! I got the grilled veggie sandwich and boyfriend got the BLT and it was phenomenal. They also have really good home made ranch. I will be coming back and will be saving room for pie next time which looked spectacular. read more

My husband ordered the Santa Fe Sandwich which was described as having grilled beef with cheese and an Ortega chili. All fine and well. The price of this sandwich was $18.00. He also ordered a substitute salad for an additional $1.50. When the meal arrived, the sandwich looked like it should have been priced at about half to less of the cost. There was hardly any meat on the sandwich and it was dry. Additionally, there was a paltry amount of salad. We were asked if everything was okay and he apologetically let them know that he must have ordered the "wrong thing", that it wasn't what he thought it was going to be. So he ordered something else instead. While we were waiting we were verbally accosted by someone else who worked there, not the lovely lady who greeted us or the lady who had taken our order. This person came out and in a sarcastic tone said something to the effect of what did we think it was going to be, didn't it say what it was on the menu... The tone was unnecessary, abhorrent and demonstrated horrible customer service. I work in retail and would never have addressed a customer, patron, in such a manner. Even though there is at present, a limited selection here in Lone Pine, we will never return to this place again. At the Alabama Hills Cafe, the food, the value and service, is always exceptional and now after this experience, we appreciate it even more. read more

The new owners do the cooking and baking. Everything is fresh. They have only been open for 6 weeks. Staff very friendly, efficient and fun. Had the fish & chips with fresh cooked veggies for a side. Yummy! Fish was lightly battered and flash deep fried so there wasn't any grease hanging on. Fries were good and not salted so one could add or not which is good for us as we like pepper on ours. We were a party of 3 and two of us ordered identity items from the menu. Corned beef hash. I remembered coming here 2 years but unsure what I ordered. Once the corned beef hash come out, I knew that's what I ordered last time. The consistency with this place is off, since we had two orders are the corned beef hash, they both looked different. Once was crispier than the other. Mine came our crispier so I was a happy customer. However, my friends wasn't and he was comparing how different they were. Kind of strange since we ordered the same thing. Strike.. On the more logistical side, I would have thought the jam would be already on the table for customers to use for their toast. There was none. Even if that is the case, I would have thought that once the toast came, the server would bring out the jam. That wasn't the case, so I had to request it and then it finally came. Not sure why they make it on the customer to get some jam. Maybe it was too early in the morning (10AM) and they haven't finished setting up? Giving this place a 3 because of the inconsistency of cooking the same item and the jam not being readily available. read more

I was visiting Lone Pine for the purpose of hiking Mt. Whitney with friends/family. We decided to stop to eat here based on the restaurant's good reviews but we were not impressed. In fact, we were pretty bummed out we ate here. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was ok at best. The French fries that came with the plate were burnt and unsalted. Also,the table were we sat was uneven and supper annoying to sit at. It felt like we were eating on a teeter totter. It's also worth mentioning that there were several flies inside of the restaurant and the air conditioning was pretty much off. Lastly, my cup of water had something nasty floating inside attached to the straw. I didn't bother asking for a fresh refill because I noticed it pretty late in the meal and I didn't want to anger "Bobby" the waiter who already appeared to be upset. He was rude to one the members in our party because he asked for a refill while he was walking past our table. Anyways, take my advice and eat somewhere else, don't take a chance on this mediocre restaurant. read more

Mountain pricing! Location, location and location... I guess restaurants are going to be pricier since they have to truck in all their supplies. The price of pasta is ridiculous, but then they are called The Grill so maybe they are pushing people to get their grilled items to give the cook an easier job. :p The grilled chicken seem like a good deal for the protein and not as expensive as the ribs. When ordered the chicken was very dry like it's been on the grill for a while. Maybe the ribs would have been a better options since there would BBQ sauce to drench it hiding any dryness. The California Burger had chopped grilled onions, mushrooms and swiss cheese. Bun could have used some toasting on the grill as it was a bit solid like when you take bread out of a refrigerator. Eh, just a burger nothing to write home too, probably could be improved by properly caramelizing the onions and couple of the mushrooms were raw. There were a few flies in the restaurant that were annoying as heck and made the place seem dirty even though it wasn't. :( The restroom was large and clean but with only restroom and a full restaurant, the wait time for it was long. With few options in Lone Pine, this restaurant was full up during the rush for lunch. Options such as Subway will make restaurants more appetizing and after a long trip on the road or trip coming back from "roughing-it" a tall glass of ice water and warm meal is amazing. read more

If you visit Lone Pine, The Grill is a MUST !!! Really good food, quiet and relaxing restaurant. The owners are the nicest people and stayed open late for us, to pick up our Dust Devil pasta. They went through hell during the pandemic and had the restaurant closed for many months. They said it was only because of their customers that they were able to survive. They are the type of owners who would bend over backwards for their customers. You don't see that kind of loyalty and dedication from restaurants owners too often. I can't say enough about the restaurant and HIGHLY recommend it !!! read more
