for a place that's very hard to get a reservation for, this place was completely empty when i went. but the food was great! unfortunately they were all out of there sourdough bread which was super sad. but the rest of the food and drinks were good. i would say the yellowtail tuna and the crab noodles were my favorites, so much flavor. i also got the peach pit cocktail and it tasted like a cabin in the woods, you'll understand if you try it. our server was great !

We went for happy hour and got their tomato martini and their happy hour pastas and everything was very good! Service was great and the atmosphere was relaxed and sitting at the side bar so we could see into the kitchen provided a cool vibe.

Awesome space inside. Unique drinks and food. Everything was delicious! I enjoyed the ratatouille I ordered and the drinks were top notch.

One of my go to happy hour spots! They even validate your parking! Everything here is delicious and well prepared. The vegetable dishes are all unique and flavorful. The grouper was so tender and good

I liked the intimate, old school nature of the restaurant and the service was great. Perfect for a date night or special occasion. The food was all delicious, but portions were quite small to be honest. The tastes were great, we just wish we had more (especially for the prices)! Would've earned 4 stars from me, but the value / portions unfortunately knock it down to a 3.

We came to groceries several times in the past and have not been to this restaurant for a while so we decided to check out this place and made a reservation last week. We had a wonderful dinner at the grocery and pretty surprise that we didn't do it sooner. Our server was friendly and quite knowledgeable with the menu and drink The restaurant was roomy and has a good lay out. We had the storey farm half chicken dish and the potato crusted tile fish. They were so good. The yellowfin tuna crudo and broccoli salad tasted amazing as well. We will be back!

In a city where good restaurants come and go, I am really glad The Grocery has had staying power. I went there recently for an early dinner after work with some colleagues. We had a reservation but probably didn't need one. We wanted to share and our server Bryan did a great job helping us with our choices. The three of us shared two appetizers (tomato salad, roasted peaches with ham), two entrees (pasta with chanterelle mushrooms, and grouper), and one dessert (churro). The food was amazing. We also shared a bottle of Cava which paired perfectly, was delicious, and very reasonably priced.

Went to The Grocery with a group of friends and had a great time. Our waitress was amazing and very friendly. I ordered the beef tartare, spaghetti and crab, and potato crusted tilefish. Beef tartare was so fresh and had potato chips add for the perfect crunch. The tilefish was amazing. Light, flaky, with a yummy sauce. Spaghetti and crab wasn't my favorite. Wouldn't order it again. Perhaps a different noodle would have been better? Can't pinpoint what I didn't like. Overall though would 100% go back!

The tl;dr is four stars for food/quality of food, but three stars overall due to experience and pacing: Service: Full disclosure that we came on a Saturday after the snowstorm on Tuesday night. I don't know if folks called out, but in general while everyone was lovely, it felt like they were overwhelmed. This is not a small restaurant and I counted at least 3 large parties (6+). It felt like we had two people helping us at times with long gaps in between. There was no wiping down of the table or freshening up of plates, and to be honest, I think it's just because there was too much going on and not enough staff. Pacing: We ordered the sourdough bread, oyster mushrooms, roasted carrots, loaded sweet potatoes, and Spaghetti & Crab with all plates being shared. The meal started as expected with drinks and bread coming out fairly soon after our initial order. Then, the mushrooms came out, and before we really were able to finish that dish, the carrots and spaghetti arrived at the same time. We finished those dishes and then some time later our server checked in to see if we'd gotten everything (we hadn't gotten the sweet potatoes). He apologized and comped those for us which was very nice, but the wait to get them ended up being oddly long (hence the comment about them being understaffed). There was a similar situation with our drinks - a refill was noted, but then it felt slipped through the cracks, and then it looked like it came twofold but the meal was basically over. Food: Everything we had was good, but I've learned that the bar in Charleston is high, and would say the meal was good but not great. These dishes weren't as creative as Sorghum & Salt's, and the flavors weren't as delicate as some of what we experienced at The Ordinary. The Grocery delivers a high quality dinner with fresh ingredients but, for me, there was nothing that signaled to me I needed to come back to try something else. The Grocery has the potential to be really great, and while my experience may have been a blip, as an out of towner I doubt I'd make it a priority to go back if I return to Charleston in the future.

Kinda a sleeper hit! This was our first dinner in town and upon entering, it was pretty quiet. I wasn't sure if that was an indication of the food or the looming storm. Luckily, I think the storm was what held people back as the food really shined! The tomato water martini was the most amazing riff on a dirty martini - probably my fav drink in the city. The cornmeal fried oysters with the pickling element was wow! So good and brought the briny salty to the cornmeal clad oyster. Green tomato carpaccio - wow wasn't expecting to love this one so much. I loved my lemon and crab pasta. Delicate, bright, and just that perfect dish to round out a nice final "summer" moment before we dive into Fall flavors. Excellent meal and would highly recommend, plus, also venture back.

Dinner at The Grocery. Aftering trying their sister restaurant Lola Rose-we were told they make Gluten Free pasta on site. Had to try! Unfortunately, they were all out of it when we got there. I opted for the Whole Fish (tilefish) and they even filleted it for me. It was very good. Justin and Emma (haha i know - she graced us with her presence) had the Paella, filled with rice, shrimp, clams and crispy fish. Needed more rice but they did like it. All paired with an excellent Cab-if you've never tried this one-put it on your list.

A comfortable yet refined rustic atmosphere, excellent service for dinner at the bar, and outstanding food created by a talented chef. My pork agnolotti was tasty, and the peanut butter bar with pretzel crumble was a large decadent serving. There's a nice selection of wine by the glass, Amaro, and Bourbon among other choices including mocktails made to order.

I really enjoyed the Easter brunch for my birthday! The food was great! I loved their fried green tomatoes which I didn't get a pic of! I ordered the eggs Benny that they put on top of biscuits, instead of an English muffin! I wasn't the biggest fan of my drink, strawberry limoncello spritz, but the food was great. The crudo kind of reminded me of a poke bowl, but it tasted great! They even gave us complimentary churros with a birthday candle! Great place! I'd love to try their proper menu one day!

It felt cozy without being stuffy and was a great spot for people-watching. The cocktails were well made and balanced, and we got lucky enough to snag a table. From the moment I walked in, the vibe was intimate, beautiful, and the perfect setting for a relaxed Saturday night cap. What made the experience truly special was the bartender. There's no traditional menu, instead, he takes the time to learn what you like and crafts drinks based on your taste. I've never experienced anything like that before. The level of knowledge and creativity behind the bar was incredible. Every drink he made was stunning and tasted even better than it looked. I was honestly so impressed that I couldn't even remember all the ingredients he mentioned because I was too busy being amazed at how good everything was. It was one of those moments where you realize there are real levels to this craft. I walked in thinking I knew a thing or two about mixing drinks at home, and left with a whole new respect for the art of it. The atmosphere, the personal attention, and the quality of the cocktails made this place feel truly top tier. Huge shoutout to the bartender, easily a 15 out of 10. Cool, knowledgeable, and passionate about what he does. If you're looking for an intimate spot for date night or just want to experience thoughtfully crafted cocktails in a beautiful setting, the Annex is the place. I will absolutely be back as soon as possible.

I don't know why but that was such a great little extra touch.. However, the place is narrow and crowded. Ironically the bathrooms were super large and spacious though.
