In response to Owner's reply: Rule of thumb in customer service is to reach out to the customer and listen to their experience to see if there is a resolution and what can be improved. I came with an inspo pic; the style was basic - blow dry straight and a bend on each side. The first stylist absolutely needs more training and it was evident from the conversation she was having with the second stylist who came over to try to fix. Second stylist was showing her what size barrel and how to use it. The second stylist insisted that barrel curls on one side and flat iron straight on the other looked just like the inspo pic which clearly it did not. Both used so much product (when I asked only for heat protectant) that your assistant manager just made it worse and asked "are you going somewhere after this?" I asked if they could rinse it out (not even shampoo) and leave with my hair wet. She told me she would need to charge me full price for another blow out. Perhaps give your managers the flexibility to solve problems like this. Instead, all she could say was "this is the best it's going to get." My daughter was observing the entire time and watched the assistant manager's eyes and the receptionist's eyes go big when they saw what your team did. Don't make customers feel small by labeling their frustration as rude. Trust what your stylists are saying but verify by getting the customer's point of view. read more

This place can be great or very mediocre, it really depends on who you go to! I dropped in with my mother to get our hair done for Easter. There was literally nobody in there except for my mom and I when several other ladies walked in. They took me back but took forever to get to my moms hair. Our stylists barely spoke to us, and my hair was pretty fried after. I want to love this place from past experiences, but it's just so hit or miss I don't know if I will be retuning. This review does not reflect how I feel about her but more so issues with the establishment and an apparent lack of cultural awareness. that said, this is *not a safe space for textured hair*. I was upfront on the phone about my daughter having textured hair and was quoted $55 without any indication there would be a charge if we went over a certain amount of time. when we arrived, we were placed with a newer stylist who wasn't experienced with textured hair. after 2 hours of my daughter being in the bowl just conditioning and de-tangling, I asked the receptionist if everything was okay to which she replied "she has a lot of naps." I won't detail how problematic that is when referring to hair belonging to a woman/girl of color but perhaps an intro into DEI or some sort of cultural sensitivity training should be considered. when we were set to go, she quoted me $85 and when I asked for clarification, was condescending in her response and didn't offer a resolution. it felt like I was paying for a lack of experience on how to properly care for curly hair. *my issue was not with our stylist or any other stylist but with the front desk - on the phone and in person. She said "naps" - I heard it. You didn't. My daughter's hair was in a protective style prior to coming in (reference to your insinuating I don't know how to care for it). Our stylist did not indicate it was tangled and actually said the opposite when we first got there. She also volunteered she'd been there for 3 months which is how I understood her experience level. My daughter also said she was using the wrong brush for a majority of the 2 hours she was in the bowl. In this case, I would've preferred she let me know it was too much for her and we could've left. If you have full hair, then this is the place for you, just like any other blow out salon. But if you have thin, straight hair & want body, curls & movement, keep looking. My stylist looked like she had just rolled out of bed & didn't give a care in the world about her appearance even though she's selling a brand. I told my stylist what my hair type was & told her she needed to use products to make my curls hold and what I ended up with was just bends in my hair that fell straight by the time I got home. I had an appt the Sat before Mother's Day. I had had hand surgery so I couldn't do my own hair. I made the appt the Friday prior and it was scheduled with "Katrina." So I show up with my mom who was driving me and say I'm there for my appt. This woman (who turned out to be the owner) just sat there looking at the computer screen. I asked what the problem was and she just sat there and said "we don't have an appt for you," while she literally just shook her head back and forth. There were about 4 hairdressers standing around behind her. I told her I had made the appt on Friday and that it was with "Katrina" so it's not like I was at the wrong place or something. I get it - mistakes happen. But this woman never apologized, never offered to make up for it (free blowout next time or whatever), and just sat there dumbfoundedly staring at her screen and shaking her head "no." I did ask her if one of the women there could do my hair and she angrily said, "I won't have you talk to my employees like that." I hadn't even addressed her employees. So basically after being told I didn't have an appt and they couldn't fit me in, I stormed out and told her I would never be back. I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life. I ended up going to Bumble & Bumble at NorthPark and had excellent customer service and a great blowout. read more

I am completely dissatisfied with my "updo" and was forced to take it down and redo my hair for the wedding I attended because it was falling down after less than an hour. For $85 I was expecting a white glove service, a knowledgeable technician, and a hairstyle that would last for several hours. Instead my stylist spent less than 10 minutes on my hair which remained wet (I came in with washed hair), was covered in too much hair spray, and was described by a friend as looking "like you just left track practice." When I expressed my reservations over the amount of the service compared to the quality of the service at the front desk I was told that this timing was normal for an updo, but upon further reflection I cannot imagine that this is the quality I should expect when paying $85 (plus tip). If for some reason the stylist could not deliver on an "updo" I would have expected her to suggest an alternate service (e.g., blowout, the cheaper bun package), rather than charge me the full amount for a style that I cannot even wear that was falling out after less than an hour. I called the salon twice and sent two emails to try to figure out a solution but am disappointed to share that I never heard back. read more

This was my first time to Hair Bar because Dry bar was booked and Hair Bar had an opening. It also was closer to where I live, which was also a plus. What wasn't a plus, was that I was not seen for 25 minutes. I arrived 5 minutes early, as it was requested. I was on a time crunch, and had scheduled my hair appointment for 4pm, and needed to be out of there by 5pm for the event I was planning on going to. My stylist was running behind on a makeup appointment, but no one informed me of that until I asked the receptionist. Every time I asked he would tell me that she was finishing up her make up and it would be just a minute. A minute turned into 25 minutes. Finally, he heard me saying that I needed to leave because I couldn't waste anymore time. It was at this point he put me with a different stylist. Additionally, every woman who came in after me was served immediately and offered something to drink. I was not offered anything to drink until my frustrations to the receptionist became known. Customer service here was not on par with the amount of money I was about to pay for a blow out. I really liked the stylist I had, but I would be very reluctant on returning especially if I was crunched for time. 25 minutes is completely unacceptable. Had the receptionist not put me with a different stylist, I probably would have been waiting until 5pm. If you are crunched on time, don't count on coming here for a blow out. read more

Jeanedra was fantastic. I had originally planned to go to Pouf the day of engagment pictures, but they're closed Mondays, so I tried hair bar. I showed up super early expecting traffic, and was warmly welcomed and offered a mimosa while I waited. Right at my appointment time Jeanedra came out, I showed her a picture of what I wanted and explained that my hair tends to deflate quickly, she told me what she would do and we were off. Lovely scented shampoo and none of the awkward small talk. While working on my hair she would ask a couple of questions or explain what she was doing but never tried to have a conversation. I don't hear well to begin with, so this was appreciated. I left looking and feeling incredible. You can believe I will be back to see my new friend. I highly recommend this place. read more

After being at the salon for 1.5 hours, they turn her chair around where she can see herself and she was mortified. Even though she showed them pictures of what she wanted, she did not get anything similar. She called me afterwards in tears saying she looked like a Clown. She rushed home to redo her hair and makeup before her photo shoot. What a waste of money and time, not to mention, how upset it made her at 8 mos. pregnant. Absolutely awful!!!! the owner is rude and money hunger! She is out of most products and is unapologetic for it. she charged $84.00 for a blow out. I go to the Dry Bar at Legacy Park on a regular basis, they are still closed because of COVID19. I found the hair bar on the internet. ( big mistake) one stylist had to take over because the other stylist was inexperienced. It took 3hrs and I am in and out the dry bar in 1 1/2 or 1hr 45 minutes tops... They advertise $42 for a blowout and take their sweet time... save yourself and............ go somewhere else!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although both girls were nice the one that took over was great! They have discontinued using kerastase because "the distributor has such a high dollar order requirement". The new product leaves my hair looking dry and dull. The receptionist when making my appointment patiently answered all of my questions thoroughly and promptly made me an appointment. 2. My hair stylist was just the nicest person. Honestly I came in not feeling so well a little under the weather plus pregnant plus tired from work plus another child in toe and I left feeling refreshed and looking photoshoot ready. Had a horrid experience today! Went in for a blow dry and it took the girls2 hours to blow out my hair. I do have very thick hair but have been here several times before and it NEVER took so long. The girl who was friendly did step away at one point to ask a fellow staff member how to style my hair. At no point was I ever rude to the stylist but I could tell she was inexperienced . I even tipped her $10. And thanked her for taking the time with my hair. While I was checking out; letting her know I was finished because I buy her packages!; the owner said she could not have anyone take two hours and she was charging me for two blow outs! Mean while I was the only customer in the salon for an entire hour! This is not the first bad experience I have had here but came back because it is very close to my home. I would warn you to stay away! Friendly staff but a very rude business owner. No wonder her staff is on constant rotation! STAY AWAY!! In a city over flowing with blow out salons it will be no problem finding better service! read more
