I went with the Marouli salad ($16) -- crisp romaine lettuce, dill, and scallions with a lemon-olive oil dressing -- and my companion chose the Greek Village salad ($19), a shepherd-style salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, Holland peppers, feta cheese, olives, and Greek dressing. Both were fresh, well-prepared, and hit the mark. The salmon was also delicious, which is a good thing, because it came with an $18 upcharge that was not listed on the printed menu. As for the service, our server and the food runners were competent but not overly friendly towards us or other diners. I also noticed that the staff tended to take care of tables out of order in which they were seated.. resulting in diners who arrived after us being served before us. Overall, it's a perfectly fine 3-star experience. I'd gladly go back if someone else was picking the spot, but if I'm the one in charge of dinner plans, I'll probably cast my net elsewhere in the area. PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home or stop at the Wine Shop liquor store located on the opposite corner of the intersection of Main Street and Millburn Avenue for some adult beverages to enjoy with your meal. EVOO & Lemon is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: EVOO & Lemon does not have a private parking lot, but there is plenty of on-street parking and municipal lots nearby. Use the mPay2Park app for the pay-by-plate meters ($0.50 per hour). Meters operate Monday through Saturday from 8am to 7pm; all street meters are free after 7 pm and all day Sunday. If the street is full, the Essex Street parking deck (24 Lackawanna Place) is a reliable backup.

My recent visit to Halal Guys in Union was overshadowed by the unpleasant demeanor of the staff, particularly the female employees. From the moment I entered, the atmosphere felt tense, with the staff exuding an unwelcoming vibe that made customers uncomfortable. The interaction with the employees was disheartening. Instead of a friendly exchange, every attempt to place an order was met with abruptness and impatience. It felt as though the staff were more interested in rushing through orders than catering to the needs of the customers. Simple requests for portion sizes or meat choices were met with curt responses, leaving me feeling disregarded and frustrated. Adding to the disappointment was the limited allocation of sauce packets. Despite spending a significant amount on my meal, I received only a few packets, a stark contrast to my experiences at other locations. It felt like a petty move to skimp on something as basic as sauce, further souring the dining experience. The tipping expectations were also perplexing. Despite the lackluster service, the staff seemed to expect a hefty tip, which felt undeserved given the overall experience. It left me questioning the value of tipping for service that fell far short of expectations. In conclusion, the unfriendly atmosphere, coupled with poor service and stinginess with condiments, detracted from what should have been an enjoyable dining experience at Halal Guys in Union. Unless there are significant improvements in both staff attitude and service quality, I fear this location may struggle to retain customers in the long run. read more

The delicious main course, caring staff, specially the general manger MR,Ahmed Visited the place for lunch with my friend. We were delighted by gyro and flafel the middle East style main course with species and lots of flavors, extremely impressive for a vegetarian restaurant. The service was above average When we arrived at 4:20, we'd to wait for 2 minutes while they prepared the table. We didn't make any reservation, but the restaurant was only half full. There was no good reason to make us wait.. When the manger visited our table and asked if something wrong, we said we didn't like the French fries. He was apologetic and said, "We're sorry for your experience with the French fries, hope you liked the main course". We nodded in yes. He was very thoughtful and so does, rest of the staff members. We left the tip and went out of the restaurant with a smile. I was greatly excited about visiting The Halal Guys in Union township . It turned out it wasn't bad at all. This place is horrible and here is why. The beef is disgusting, greasy, chop meat beef, trust me nothing is special about it. The chicken is even worse. The worst part however was the sweat I saw dripping off the working and he wiped his head with the glove on and picked up meat that had fallen out of the spoon and put it on a plate WITH THE SWEAT from his head. It is a dirty place, I threw my entire meal out after seeing that I am not even kidding. I sat down with my co worker who still had any appetite to sit down to a sticky, greasy, table that had old rice and white sauce leftovers on it. One red shirt actin like do-it-all sayin, 'I got you brother, i got you brother, belting out orders to yellow shirts and nobody's got a clue. The food there is so good. I worked there for like 6 months and I left because my bestfriend wanted me to work at her job. That's when I realized that Halal guys was the best. With all honesty, the food is great, everything is clean, and very organized. The managers, Ahmed, Mohammed are very nice and understanding. Even the employees there have nothing to worry about. it's nothing but love and respect. Whenever you enter the store you can feel the positivity and the fresh air. 99.9% of the time customers would leave the store very satisfied. I walked in to that store very hungry, ordered a combo platter with two pieces of falafel which is my favorite. Food was very fresh and hot and so delicious. I also had a problem with the new rewards app that they implemented and couldn't use my points but the guy was helping me as he was doing it for himself. When I asked him about his name he said Ahmed and I knew after that he's the general manager of the store . I hope I got treated the same way every place I go to eat . We're thrilled the combo platter and falafel on top is the best choice you can pick. The staff are so friendly to the point that you feel the great hospitality skills coming out of each one especially the store managers Ahmed and Moe who who were so attentive, entertaining and very knowledgeable. Even after the eggplant had been sitting in the yogurt for over an hour, the eggplant still maintained its crispiness. 5 stars! We also got the lamb merguez which was disappointing. Lots of pickled veggies and sauces, which was great, but there were literally two dry lamb sausages at the bottom of the pita which were the size of my ring finger. 2.5 stars. Get the fried eggplant!

The employees were so friendly when I arrived and the food is delicious!! I got the handheld gyro (chicken yeero) with tomatoes, red onion, fries and tzatziki and it was perfectly balanced. I also got a Greek salad and was so happily surprised with how refreshing it is! The tomatoes are so good. I only wish there was a smaller size to get as a side dish. Overall 10/10!

This restaurant looks great. There is a nice counter area to order, a really nice seating area inside and even outdoor seating. Some of the decor makes you feel like you're in a household's kitchen. By the cashier there is a table you can wait at complete with local newspapers. It's very charming. This was my first visit and I ordered my food to go. I had two key dishes. The first was hummus with falafel, which is very standard for me whenever I go to any Mediterranean place. When I opened the take out box at home I was really surprised. Most places give you a good amount of hummus, but here it was basically a thin layer. Kind of like a layer of mayo on a sandwich (maybe a tad thicker). Then on top of the hummus was a huge layer of pickled vegetables and tiny pickles. This was a surprise. I've had hummus orders from a lot of restaurants before and I've *never* seen this on an order before. Then the falafel balls were on top and well...they were really dry and didn't have much flavor. Now, sometimes you can cover that up by just coating the falafel in hummus, but there wasn't enough hummus to do that. The dish was just disappointing all around. The other dish I tried were the Lemon Potatoes. They were good! The lemon flavor was strong and they were cooked well. Not the best example in the area, but they would do in a pinch. At some point I'll give this place another try. Maybe this was a fluke (at least I hope so).

To our surprise we stopped in minutes before close and the staff advised that they would still take our order. We ordered a few things of wings and fries to go. The wings were decent, but they tasted kind of like the battered wings you would find at the hot bar of a local Walmart. There was really nothing special about them. The fries were good, hot and fresh to my liking. There was ample parking and the place was nicely cleaned. I was not super excited about the wings, but I would return to try something else in the future if I was hungry again late night.

It's like a pan de agua if I could compare it to anything. The staff is friendly and you can even order on the self order kiosk they have if you truly don't want to interact with anyone. The place has tons of seating but it's more of a grab and go location. I can't wait to go back. They have so many selections of burgers and chicken sandwiches. I simply can't get enough.
