Soooo happy that you opened here in Union!!!I was 4th on line this morning at 9:30 am and it was well worth the wait...Got my free platter, soda, T shirts..etc but the best part was the foid of course. My combo platter was fabulous, the chicken has a smoky charbroiled taste and combined with the famous white sauce, bbq sauce and a little hot sauce was just perfect on top. I was actually excited and raved to my brother-in-law that "we've got to stop in and try this place" only to be disappointed. Judging from a lot of the reviews, it seems to be a common issue: dry rice, (and lots of it) with a very little portion of chicken and not-so-good sauce. Surely not as tasty as the one in NYC. And yes, I ordered the 'small' but that doesn't justify the proportions of protein to carb to veggie ratio. Lots of hype and no bang. Won't be back. I'll stick w the street meat vendors in Manhattan. I went to redeem my free fries reward from doing a survey on my past visit. The store in Union NJ refused to honor it. I showed them the confirmation email and they said they cannot proceed without my phone number. I come here once a week. The food is always tasty and the workers very friendly. The portion size is rather large and is a good value.

Let me give them some constructive criticism: Don't keep opening stores up and focus on quality control instead. I was excepting a hot sandwich and the gyro bread was cold it should be heated. The lettuce should be thinly shredded as well. Now on to the baklava: don't know why I got a fork I almost broke the fork trying to get a piece of it was so hard. I spit out it as soon I tasted it it was not good. Before trying the gyro I took a piece of the chicken and the beef they both were good and flavorful individually but something was off/ missing all together in the sandwich. First let me say that I am glad that they have a Halal option as opposed to the many non Halal restaurants in the area that being said your menu basically only consists of two items therefore you should make those two menu options phenomenal instead they're mediocre the choices are chicken and beef sandwiches or platters that's it both menu items lack that good Mediterranean flavor the sauce is pretty good and the toppings are good the pita bread is very fresh and soft but again for only having two options on your menu to make people come back again freshness is the key. As far as being halal if this is a muslim-owned company I know you cater to non-muslims but is the excessive loud music really necessary. In conclusion I have given your establishment three stars, there are areas of improvement I hope the next time I go back I'll be able to give you 4 if not five stars. read more
