I have had halal guys before a couple of years ago and I thought it lacked flavor and overall wasn't that good, but my dad really wanted to try them out so we went to a different location and I have to say, I was really happy we went. We got a bunch of different things, a gyro, a falafel, and three platters, and everything was so good. Me personally, I love gyros so I would recommend getting a gyro "sandwich", but of course everything else is good. For "fast food" it is a bit pricey, our total was $50, but considering that the portions are pretty big, I'd say it's worth it. My instructor ordered the whole class gyro platters. My first time trying Halal Guys and not disappointed. Meat and rice were great and went nicely with the lettuce and tomato. I went yesterday to this place to pick up my order n there was an option for tip in the credit card n then I selected 15percent tip for the person n then later I asked the Person is the tip for u guys bcoz I have heard that the owner takes the tip n he says it's team work. But I doubt they don't get the tips. Not fair. Which I know the owner takes there tips. And when they started opening up store fronts I was apprehensive at first but quickly appreciated them. I don't know what it is about this place but I just really enjoy the food. My favorite is the burrtio gyro or the salad with gyro meat. I honestly didn't know that they had a cheese sauce and a white sauce until my last visit. They are both yummy, but I think the white sauce is still my favorite. I was craving halal platters for a 3rd straight day (I know, I know...), so I opted for Halal Guys. Clean interior with a few tables. FOOD: Regular Combo Platter ($8.79): Gyro and chicken. Their gyro is well-seasoned and probably the best out of all the other platter places I've tried; the same can be said about the rice--fluffy and the most flavorful to date. The chicken is good, too, but I found it a little dry. I thought the portions for a regular-sized platter are perfect for lunch, but you can certainly find other places that give you more. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. What the staff doesn't tell you is that toppings cost extra, which isn't stated on the menu either; onions and one other topping I can't remember is free, though. The white sauce is good, as is the hot sauce--which certainly packs some heat; 2 lines of hot sauce should be enough for most people. Comparing it to ghost peppers, however, is an exaggeration. SERVICE: Service was indifferent, but quick and efficient. The guy working the toppings drizzles a good amount of white sauce, but I've seen other take-out orders with flooded platters. He was stingy with the hot sauce, even after I asked for a little more. Extra packets of either sauce cost extra. If you eat in, ask for the bottles of white sauce and red sauce; they're kept behind the counter. My newest obsession. My man is not as adventurous as I so I had to drag him here. He loved it too! Food is hella flavorful, hella bountiful, and, my favorite, hella affordable! When we went, it was midweek and not at all busy but the Manager was working alongside the employees and I always LOVE seeing that. Lead by example! He was nice, as was the rest of the staff! My long drives into the city just to pick up platters are over but I'm not going to lie, I still get Halal Guys from the city when I'm there. It's comforting to know that Halal Guys has kept up the same NYC standard!! Great job guys!!! I went early grand opening day in Union and waited ceremoniously as I had been accustomed to at the NYC lines. When the doors opened the lines went surprisingly fast and the staff was super friendly. There was also someone going around the tables asking if I wanted extra white sauce!!! Yes pleeeeeeease! The crew did an awesome job keeping the place clean too! Granted it was Opening day and there were thousands go through the store and they were wiping off tables and chairs as soon as they were vacated to make room for the next guest. But what really got my attention was a girl that just finished wiping the tables and as she was walking away bent down to pick up some garbage by hand! Now that is a great work ethic. I'm regret not getting her name to let her manager know. The bathrooms were also clean given the amount of traffic that came through that day.
