We decided to come here because it isn't far from the Growler Station and we were hungry. It's definitely loud and not a place to really talk. (Louder than most bars at least that night) There isn't a waitress and you have to order at the bar. There isn't much selection but you can order UberEats and there was one more delivery service I had never heard of. We ordered the Southwest egg rolls. They were decent and spicy. I would order them again. The corn dogs were also pretty good. They tasted like actual cornbread which is always a plus. A fun, chill place to hang out. Nothing fancy. Basically a typical sports bar. Lots of TVs so it's great for game watching. Good drink specials and quick bartenders. Went for Sunday Funday this time and it was a great spot for that. It was a pretty day outside so they popped open the garage door that opens to the outside "patio". First time here! I came for the $10 all you can eat crawfish and to my surprise, they only wanted $5.00! They started serving crawfish with potatoes, sausage and corn on the cob! This place was really cool! Let me start with the drinks- I got the Red Bull crown pitcher, I was impressed, it wasn't as strong as I thought it would be but it definitely hit the spot. This place used to be my jam after volleyball. Our team would go after our volleyball games every week to play scavenger hunt and drink some beers. Unfortunately, this place has gone down hill since it's gone through new management. There's nothing really special about this place anymore. Drinks are average and benefits of playing with SSC have diminished (used to be $75 if your team won, now it is only $50). The food is pretty good for bar food. Try the lemon pepper wings. The Hangar is a fun place to hang out, grab a cold one, and play some games. They offer a bunch of fun things to keep you entertained, like giant Jenga, video games, pool, trivia nights- there's always something going on there. They have great drink specials, and an okay beer list. My favorite thing about the place is that when you check in on Yelp, you get a free beer! Woot! That's pretty great in my book! A friend of mine used to work here a few years ago but I never got the chance to visit because I didn't live here (overseas military). So I finally got to check it out and it's actually one of those best bars I've been to in SA. The night I went there was a high school reunion going on, so the place was pretty packed. But not so packed that I was able to find my spot to relax at and enjoy football on TV. And thank goodness the bathroom didn't smell like piss like you'll see with a lot of bars, in general. The bartenders here were on point with taking orders and getting drinks out quickly, even with the crowd. And they all were friendly/polite the entire time I was there. Whoever runs this ship knows what they're doing with that crew. Drink prices are about average, so no issues there. And they have a decent enough selection a customer should be able to find something they'll enjoy drinking. If you're into games, go out on the patio. They have cornhole and 'Big Beer Pong' here, so definitely some activities here for visitors to enjoy. read more

Walked in here for the first time and immediately liked the feel of the place. Felt open and kind of beachy. I liked it! Sat down and the ambience was chill, very relaxed. Hey let's get a drink? Sure! Went up to the bar and we, unfortunately, had the most sour faced, rude bartender ever. If being tactful was a class at charm school she either missed that class or completely missed charm school all together. She looked at us like we were a bother. She was rude and her customer service was seriously lacking. I did not like it. Enough to really feel like I could never come back if that's what I have to deal with. They never were there! There was one time the cook was the only person working. This is one of my favorite places to go for trivia. It's fun and not very packed/loud. The chicken strips are also great and if you'd prefer a vegetarian friendly option, the quesadillas is good too. Number 1 highlight for me: this is place is SUPER pet friendly!!! They have a great patio, and will even allow them inside the bar area! Every time we bring our furbaby there, he gets totally spoiled by the staff. They bring him out his own bowl of water and sometimes he gets treats! This is by far one of the most accomodating places we have ever taken our dog so they would get my vote of approval on that alone. But there's more! Their staff is pretty amazing. We usually only can make it out here on Sundays due to our work schedules. Sundays at The Hangar are known as Ginger Sundays because they have two gorgeous redheads working the bar (as a redhead myself, I may be biased haha). The drinks are strong, the service is quick, and the girls are a ton of fun, and are always joking around with the customers. The food is typical bar fare and all that grease goes sooooo perfectly with your delicious drinks. We've only tried a couple different things but their breakfast sandwich is scrumptious (fried eggs, bacon, cheese on Texas toast), the chicken club is good (though in my opinion the breast is just too thick, and it makes eating it awkward... seriously, I make enough of a mess when I'm sober, don't try me when I'm drinking!), and their mozzerella sticks are amazeballs!!! On the note of foods.... they have bottomless brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11-3. Brunch is $10 and includes eggs, bacon, and hasbrowns. Mimosas are oly $1 during that time as well. The Hangar really prides itself on being a place where you go to do more than just sit at the bar. Along with multiple televisions throughout the bar, they have a ton of fun games to play: giant Connect Four, giant Jenga, giant billiards (with soccer balls!), and giant beer pong (are you sensing a theme?). Bathroom facilities are modern and clean (I had to mention cos I am super particicular about restrooms). On the note of cleanliness, some people may be concerned about dogs being inside, and the servers handling them. This was actually a concern of mine as well, but I have seen that they wash their hands after every encounter so fear no more!! Overall, this is my favourite spot for day drinking and would recommend to anyone! read more

What can I say about this place besides, "It's a bar." It has it's pros and cons like every establishment, but I'm not sure the pros outweigh the cons to this place for me. The first time I came here it was for a $5 craft beer tasting on a Thursday after watching Rivers Want live for the first time ever. I was definitely riding a "kick ass concert" high when I agreed to give it a shot, although, the craft beers weren't half bad. I'd even say they were worth the price. Interior is kind of small and their seating arrangement seems crowded. Like a typical sort of dive sports bar the tables and floors were sticky and you had to muscle your way up to the bar to order anything. Parking seemed a little limited at first, but later I found out they have a section of dirt across the street that everyone uses when the paved parking is taken. Seems like this place is the go to after-game spot for San Antonio Sports Club members, which is cool if you're into that sort of thing. I mention this observation only because of the last time I ended up there. It's St. Patrick's day and my friends and I are looking for the customary green beer. Since there have been countless posts on Facebook we give this place a try. Super crowded as usual, lots of SA Sports Club shirts. The air that blows down on us as we're entering the bar has the distinct smell of a high school boys locker room which gets stuck in our nostrils. Once we're inside it's no better. Maybe it's because we showed up around 12 instead of starting the party there, but the smell of vomit inside the bar is so strong I can barely stand it. We take our watered down, more yellow than green, Miller Lite beers outside and finally stop holding our breath. After several visits I'd have to say I'd only go there again if someone else really wanted to go and only after I've failed to talk them into going somewhere else. read more

The Hangar is pretty fun and not as dirty and dingy as some of the other bars on Broadway. We went last Tuesday for Bingo night, and it was really fun watching someone win $500! (Bingo within the first 7 numbers, including the free space.) I was pretty jealous when a guy won the Pajama Jeans, but I enjoyed seeing him wear them in exchange for a free shot! As you can tell, Bingo night was a party. The only reason we left is because a couple of guys were way too rowdy with the kazoos, and it was giving us all a headache. Hopefully The Hangar stops giving them out. :) The Hangar is also great for daytime game watching as there are plenty of TVs and snacks. I will say, beware of the bottomless mimosas. The brunch deal is pretty good--$15 for anything you can eat on the breakfast menu and bottomless mimosas. But me, my fiance and his roommate all felt pretty sick after drinking a handful of mimosas. Trust me, I can handle a champagne brunch, but I think the quality of the champagne is so low, it made my head hurt for two days. But that's just IMHO. I'd definitely say try The Hangar, at least for Bingo night, and you won't be disappointed! read more

I've only been here a couple of times and both times I was only there because a friend of a friend of a friend was playing. The sound quality with live music isn't all that great. The drink prices are normal, especially for the area. The bar itself isn't that large which is interesting because they have live music there on a regular basis. Be warned that on Friday and Saturday nights the parking situation is stressful. One star only because mandatory. Bartenders are literally the worst I've ever seen, acted annoyed and inconvenienced when you ask for a drink, pretended they didn't see you trying to get their attention, and often "forgot" about a drink order. Bartenders need better people skills if they are going to work in the service industry. I was the DD for my group of friends and not once did a bartender acknowledge me or offer me water or any non alcoholic beverage even after I tried to get ones attention for something to drink. I urge anyone and everyone reading this to never waste your time at this awful bar. If they had better, more kind bartenders this place would be amazing. I love a good dive and sports bar and this is the place! The staff is wonderful and always helpful. They are fast even when they are overcrowded. The bartenders deserve a lot of credit for the rush they get on Sundays during football season with brunch. The bottomless brunch food is just okay but I loved other options on the menu. I would definitely suggest that instead. I didn't feel like the "bottomless brunch" lived up to its name. Now the fried mushrooms, those were on point. The mimosas are also great and for $1 a great deal for Sunday brunch. I love the dive bar feel but the amount of options craft beer wise. I want to give it 5 stars, but that was only because I saw the coolest country band, Roadside Libby, there. Overall though, I would say that it is a great bar to have drinks with friends, however, the drinks, I was not too impressed with. It was a long night of drinking, and if it wasn't beer, it was usually nasty. We started with tequilla, which was served at shed out back temperature, ick! By the time I explored their other drinks, I was too far gone to remember their names, the only memorable impression was that they were always gross. Definitely the place to go if you're an aspiring bartender that wants artistic freedom. I noticed that one of the bartenders there used to own a bar that subsequently under.
