I love the offer for Yelpers. A free pre-flight. To be fair, when you say free "pre-flight" I thought they were going to give me beer samples, turns out that's what they call their appetizers. Fine by me. I've been here a few times to socialize with my SSC teammates. Beer is cold, servers are usually attentive even if you're at a table, and there are plenty of TVs. The food is meh, to the nth degree. First time I got a philly cheesesteak, it was basically sodium rich meat substitute with melted government cheese. At least the bread was somewhat fresh. They serve breakfast all day/night so that always seems appealing but after the kiss of salty death I'm avoiding real food for now. Their mozzarella sticks aren't anything special, you can easily tell they're from a bag. The fried pickles were a little bit better, but sitll nothing to write home about. This was my go to bar. Great wings and good selection of beer. But tonight was the worst experience I've ever had there. Two bartenders, looked new , were focused on eating. I waited at the bar for 10 min while they both chatted to the same person, both making eye contact with me. Finally one came and I ordered a beer and some wings to go. Fast forward 50 min later , my order sat on the kitchen ledge, after the bell was rang from the cook , and they still were just eating and chatting with the same person. Went in for the first time on a Saturday afternoon after playing golf. Was looking for a cold beer and possibly something to eat. The atmosphere upon arriving was great; very relaxed and casual and the people were friendly. Sat at a table hoping to be able to put our order in with a waitress. No such luck. Realized after a few minutes that it was bar service only. Ordered a beer and some shrimp off of their menu. Bartender said that they didn't have the sauce I asked for, but was listed on the menu. Beer wasn't all that cold and the shrimp were nothing more than frozen breaded shrimp that you could get at any grocery store - nothing special. read more

Lousy service. Went for brunch and were seated right away. However, we had to wait 20 minutes to get menus. We were the only people in the entire place. After we got menus it was another 20 minutes until our server came back. At that point we decided to drink our mimosas and leave. Our server did bring us our mimosas we ordered in a timely manner but that was it. I mean it is a bar. Oh well. We went to Taco Garage instead for brunch. I highly recommend that place! First time at the hangar and really needed to come out for a drink after having a rather rough week. I had the best customer service here than from any bar I have went too. Cris and Robert were the best bartenders I have interacted with in a long time. They didn't just serve the best drinks but they made it a point to have a conversation with me, made me feel comfortable and welcome there, and before I knew it I forgot about my week. Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for an after work drink and had a hard time finding a parking spot. I had to park at the empty strip center nextdoor...kinda lame, especially when that strip center opens as something else and you will be forced to park down the road. I usually get draft at a bar but was surprised that they only have 3 products on tap, all of them Bud products, again, disappointing. Being that it was Sunday, they have some pretty good specials like $2.50/any bottled beer, so to get my money's worth, I chose guiness when the bartender was kind enough to look up from her phone and ask what I wanted. The bartender made me feel like I was wasting her time. If the place has anything going for it, its the A/C. It was nice to step in from the heat and get a cool blast, which was unexpected because the large garage style doors were open. I also like the fact that attached to the patio tables outside were a couple of dog leashes and a dog pillow, if you feel like bringing your pooch with you. Sports league and trivia make me frequent the Hanger more often than I'd like. It's a dive bar but manages to feel contrived. They host wet t-shirt contests and other spring break-esque events to attract customers. The food is not good, even the fried pickles manage to disappoint. Beer prices are good, but the beer selection small. Also, the soft drink menu is limited. The Hangar charges extra for debit/credit transactions so make sure to take cash and don't expect great service. The Hangar is decent if you have good company, but if you want to find a fun dive I'd suggest finding a place more authentic. read more

Went here for the firat time recently and found The Hanger to be just as good as our friends recommended it to us. It looks like a dive bar, or a frat house, with over-sized Connect 4, Jenga and Beer Pong (buckets). There's also normal beer pong and a couple of darts boards and a Sand Bag Toss game. Try the mini pitchers of Long Islands and Georgia Peach they're fantastic. The Hanger Cane wasn't as strong IMO. The Pilot Burger served with fries or tots is a good tied me over burger, too. read more

Went with my husband for a bite to eat, we were wearing our mask and as we opened the door we could feel every eye staring at us, normally, I don't particularly care about it, but as you hear more and more about people picking fights about others wearing masks, and as we waited and looked at the menu and no one came to ask us about what we wanted, I made the decision to get ourselves out of there. We have been to the one in Nacogdoches and it was totally fine, so we figured since we were in that area, it would be fine to dine there. A mistake we won't repeat any time soon. Frist of all the Hanger is a chill spot to hangout and have a few drinks with friends. We ended up doing the park and ride from the Hanger to Alamo Heights night on Friday. This was a great idea or so i thought. They have plenty of seating and two full bars. They did have two or three shuttles that were going to be dropping off and picking up people from this event. We waited about 20 to 30 mins to get out shuttle. They dropped us off and the last pick up time was at 11:30pm. Well, on the way back after the event we were in line once again but this time for like what seemed to be an hour. We just happened to be on the last shuttle back to the hanger. With all the construction on Broadway it took the driver longer to get to us. But once we arrived safe and sound we enjoyed a few more adult drinks, small talk with our new friends we made thanks to the packed shuttle. read more

The bar food is acceptable, but I don't come here for the food. Decent beer selection and drink specials. Countertop picnic table row seating, lots of screens to catch sports, and a nice patio they'll open up if the weather is cooperative. Funny thing about this place, the nudies above the urinal, I'd give you a 5* but you haven't changed them out this year I don't think. Come on get some new material! All right, it's hot in San Antonio, and the beer buckets are a blessing because if you don't hurry up and drink your beer here, it get warm fast. So, if your beer gets a little on the warm side, put it back in the bucket and grab another. A buddy of mine, that is from here, tells me I am crazy, but in Colorado your beer stays colder longer. I used to not come here because of the stigma of a douche crowd, but honestly, it's my favorite place for a day drink. The staff are consistently social and friendly, I've never felt neglected in any way. I've never felt that the staff is neglectful of patrons intentionally, and can't really elaborate on the night staff since I usually come during the day, but everyone is always very welcoming and attentive. The food options are bar fare but have always been on point and I've never had a bad food experience here, they have a kitchen so it is not bring your food, which is understandable. I recommend trying the burger and fried pickles, and the mini pitchers are a great deal, ask for the red head if she's there, she wrestled a bear once and had plenty of stories to tell. read more

We came here for a quick dinner and watch the game. It seems to be a popular spot but I'm not sure why. It's very dark and moody. The service wasn't attentive. The music is ridiculously loud for a bar that you could barely hear the person next to you. The food is just okay. The mixed drinks never make me want more. Andrew and I stopped in the other day just for a drink, and it served it's purpose. I was let down when we walked in though, because of how small the place is. Everyone talks about the Hangar, so I was expecting a lot more. The bar tender was very nice and the tvs were easy to see, which we enjoyed. There isn't a foot bar when you sit at the bar so your feet just dangle, which always bothers me. There were also a lot of screaming, drunk college kids in the parking lot, which made me nervous leaving my car. We will go back to redeem our Yelp offer, which is a free "pre-flight" which, alas, is an appetizer, not beer. But you know, I'm going back! I forsee this bar being somewhere we go cause the gang wants to or because someone is in a league and they are going. read more

Interesting bar, I'd recommend giving it a shot. The staff was super friendly. I ordered their brisket sandwich and some jalapeño bites. A friend and I attended their tequila and beer tasting on a Thursday and overall it was a great experience! Parking is a little bit of a challenge but of course anything is in the Broadway area. It was easy to maneuver through out the bar despite being busy and wait times for beer and food was fast. Ordered the fried mushrooms and sweet chili wings. The fried mushrooms were good and my wings were amazing! Not too sweet and still had a bite of spice. I would totally recommend this place for any of my friends who want a chill environment indoor and outdoor. read more

Was in town last week for work and wanted to get out of the hotel and watch the basketball game. Sad to say, I decided on another place and when I got there it seemed chaotic so I searched again and saw The Hangar was close by. I stopped in and immediately liked the open air feel of the front portion of the bar. I settled in at the bar and the bartenders were quite busy but efficient and friendly. I had some decent wings, a nice cold beer, and plenty of TV's to watch the game. The vibe was friendly, laid back, and unrushed. I'll definitely stop in again on my next trip to the area. read more

Order a burger Medium Rare... you get it charred to a crisp. I ate there with 4 other people. Everyone ordered Burgers medium or medium rare. We received Hockey Pucks. What a total dump. Been here before and loved it, great bar. i would give this bar five stars but when i walked in-sober from a meeting at my job- the bartender decided not to serve me and a friend because she heard a joke about us being drunk earlier that day. Without speaking to us, she told the door guy to kick us out. Completely disrespectful and uncalled for. when i spoke to the manager about it he did apologize, thanks for that. If I could leave zero stars I would. Went this past Saturday on the 2/11/17 and was being helped by a gentlemen... well we were there for awhile.. end of story we left a cash tip... they charged themselves a 4.00 extra tip on our card. Yeah big deal 4.00 dollars... that's 4 dollars I could've spent the next time I went. I also ordered a margarita pitcher... and they were making a sex on the beach for someone else.. well they ended up making my drink half sex on the beach and half margarita. When I mentioned it they said they know how to make a margarita. (It was pink/reddish when just before that it was a regular yellow/green. Moral of the story don't go to this bar because they tip themselves and don't know how to make a proper drink. read more

This could be the one savior of The Hangar, also maybe the BINGO games they hold on Wednesday nights. It's has a garage feel to it, will a small patio for the nicotine addicts. The tables inside are more like high-rise picnic tables, plenty of seating for groups. Last time I dropped in, two softball leagues were also here so they pretty much covered the whole inside. The bartenders are ok, you order, they serve you. I know they have a couple of servers on the busy nights. The prices are about average for the local bars around town. They have a kitchen, once again I drink my calories so I haven't had the food. It can get loud in here so if you're looking for a place to chat it up and actually hear, then the patio maybe more your style. Parking kinda sucks on a busy night so be prepared to circle the tank a couple of times before finding a spot. The negative..... Alamo Heights nearby=cops. read more

One of the many bars on the Broadway strip. I have only been here when it was bumpin', crowded full of people. When you first walk in, it looks pretty small, with a few booths along the wall and some tables. I'm sure it just looks smaller because of the number of people that are there. I have only been when there was live music, so I'm pretty sure they have it most nights. Great cover band with music that you want to hear when you've been getting your drink on. The bartenders are friendly and actually notice you standing at the bar. I do have to take a star away because of the horrible parking. They only have a small parking lot in front so you typically have to park kinda far away. This sucks when you are wearing your heels. Hangar is a decent dive bar, with good service, cheap drinks, is typically clean, and has generally cool people. Come on Sunday. I've actually only been on Sunday's so who knows it may be awesome all days of the week, but on Sunday the bar pulls out the big screen on the patio to show whatever sporting event is playing and they have a variety drinking games going on (a bean bag washers type game, life size jenga, darts, etc). I think this bar is pretty active with trying to have something for patrons to do while drinking which is what I like. Hardly ever do you see a bar put that much thought into people's enjoyment, so I can really appreciate that. This would be a great place for a group of friends to go out for some casual drinks and fun. I'll have to check it out on other nights of the week to see what other kinds of fun there is to be had. read more
