Nothing is redeemable about this place. I wanted to order mozzarella sticks, but they were out of those (somehow), so I ordered Mac and cheese with bacon (for $16). My family ordered some fries, a special rip sandwich, and garlic knots. With tip, it ended up being $53! That's flagrant to begin with for how little we got, but the food was painfully mediocre. The Mac and cheese were terribly bland, the fries were hard and under-seasoned, and the knots were nothing special. The rib sandwich was alright, but not good enough for the $20 price tag. The main server was awful at her job too. She was an older lady who seemed to have no clue how to do her job. She was frazzled every time she was required to do anything; no knowledge of the register, didn't know the menu, brought our food out so spread out that we were asking for boxes by the time the garlic knots came out. The ambience is the only thing keeping this from being 1 star, but that still wasn't great. It's an average pub playing okay music. Still not nearly good enough to justify the horrendous prices. read more

Such a surprise this restaurant was! Really loved how it was set up. You go up to the counter and order what you want and the meals were reasonably priced. They primarily serve pizza, sandwhiches and some salads as well. The cubano really hit the spot and the meat in there were tender and juicy. I had the hot chicken sand which initially and didn't really like it too much because it was doused in a lot of honey, so I switched to the Cubano which the waitress was happy to do, which I appreciate a lot. It's a great restaurant and bar if you're ever in town and want some American comfort food. read more

We came for lunch on a Sunday in early October, beautiful fall day. The side of the restaurant was open to a park with live music. The ambiance was casual, with exposed brick and metalwork-- kind of an industrial/historic feel. Friendly staff, good service, and a good menu-- hard to make a selection, so many good options. No wonder it was so popular. The smash burger was juicy and tasty. The. Asian chicken salad also - good flavors, generous portion. We got there in the late morning; by noon, all the tables were full, people at the bar. But no impatient waiting tension; more of a feel like a cocktail party, with friends standing around chatting. We were passing through, and it gave us a good feel for the community in Grants Pass. read more

I love where this restaurant is located. I like the outdoor seating....This review is sounding a lot like the one I wrote for a fine restaurant and bar we called "Climate City." Just as much as I loved that place, I love the Haul. But, the food at the Haul is seriously on a decline. It left me wanting something else, somewhere else. Haul Owners: Try those tacos. They're awful. If you don't want to go out of business, get a chief who loves to cook. Update your menu to include veg, gluten free (which you have) that are also delicious. And, you use to have trout and/or salmon. What happened? In 2017, I gave you a 5 star review, touting how great the food was.....It's not good. The only thing that is ok, was the pizza. And, again, it was ok. There are better pizza restaurants in GP. I'm officially not going back until I hear things have changed for the better. The only reason I didn't give you a one star is because honestly, out of respect for the family owned business. If the food does not improve, I don't know...I just don't see the Haul surviving. read more

We visited The Haul on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and although the business was busy, they were also very efficient. We ordered a cheeseburger and fries and a Cuban and fries. They were both delicious. The fresh fries were cooked to perfection and the sandwiches well constructed. I would absolutely visit again and try some of their other entrees, as well. We were in from out of town and I was looking for delicious vegan sandwiches. I wish I left this review at the time, but I believe I spoke with the owner, and he gave me some great suggestions, . The service there is fantastic. The ambience is fun like a bar, which it is, as well. I believe they made me a vegetarian Reuben, with tofu (Tempe?), and I went ahead and had the cheese. It was SO delicious, and I wish I took a picture. The garlic fries were out of this world yummy. I usually do not eat fries, but these were my exception, and I was not disappointed at all. Unfortunately this was the worst dining experience of our entire 2 1/2 week RV trip. I chose this place because it was among the most highly reviewed restaurants on yelp. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich my wife ordered a small pepperoni pizza and we got a large salad to split along with two sodas. $48 ?......... Really??? The food arrived and I was pretty excited about the appearance of the sandwich as it looked like it was going to be delicious....it was NOT! Call the big eater and I almost never leave anything behind on the plate but this sandwich was the exception. I finished half of it and wish I hadn't eaten in the first half and I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth. The pizza was OK but nothing special in a bit on the Soggy side. The large salad was not large especially for the $12 price. Ambience of the place was OK but the service was lacking and pretty much a self-serve ordering system but they expected a tip. I was pretty excited at first to find a place that looks so interesting with food photos it looks so great but so disappointed when we left that the food quality was extremely subpar, the prices over the top and the service, although friendly was not very attentive. The food was fair - pastrami in the sandwich was way too thick and it was tough. The house citrus dressing was made poorly apparently that day because it tasted very bitter. French fries were just fair but their special sauce for french fries was very yummy. We added the vegetarian mushroom gravy to both as well as an over medium egg. This was enough food for at least four people! The value was amazing. The taste was amazing. Was not impressed. Hamburgers was dry with no sauce of any kind. They were NOT understaffed plenty of servers, but service was really bad. We had to ask for silverware/napkins/salt n pepper. And had to ask for mayo for the dry burgers. The server brought our meal, then went on a break. So had to finally ask another server. That shouldn't be. But...they have a great dining ambiance. I called The Haul earlier in the afternoon and spoke with Gabe about keeping the last two pieces of fruity pebble cheesecake for me, as I was coming up from Medford. He said, "ya know what? Yeah, come on up." We showed up around 6, and it looked like there was a total of three people working including Gabe. We were patient because duh. Pandemic. And he had my cheesecakes. When we got to him and I said, "do you have my cheesecakes?" he hesitated and then excitedly hollered "Seanaaaaaa! You came!" It took a long time to get our food, but again... pandemic. And three people working. Gabe was amazing and communicated with everyone to make sure they knew what was going on. So the food. We got the Tri-Tip Philly sandwich. So much meat, a ton of ooey gooey cheese and onions. It was delish. The Cuban. Oh man. This one knocked it straight out of the park. They were all out of pork by the end of the night, so I'm glad I got this. It was so stinking good. THE MAC N CHEESE BRO. Our kid got it, sans parsley or bread crumbs. Just plain Jane. And OH EM. GEE. Hands down one of the best macs I've had. EVER. We were there for the better part of three hours. It was honestly one of the best dining experiences we've had. Because I'm gluten free I have limited reviews to share regarding the other food but my husband says the regular pizzas are great. I have tried to order gf pizza but it's never been available when we have been there. Very limited ciders too which kind of stinks but the beer menu is good. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich on a gluten free bun is really great. It's counter service but they do circulate to offer more drinks or check up on you which is cool. I did not get a photo this time. I had the margarita cocktail and it was good. My friends had been here once before and said the food was really good and wanted to return to try the pizza from the wood fire pizza oven so we went. I can't comment on the things they had prior to this visit but the pizza was ok. It wasn't anything to write home to mom about. The crust got the wood fire crisp I would expect but the rest of the dough was a little limp. Like I said, there was nothing extraordinary about the pizza. I also felt it was inappropriate to charge a dollar for ranch when we paid 80.00 for the 3 medium pizzas we purchased as well as 50.00 for 4 cocktails. Seems like a few 2oz cups of ranch could be complimentary. We shared a garden salad and it was delicious. It came dressed with some kind of oil vinaigrette. Fresh and tasty. My husband and I stopped here on our way home and decided to try out a new restaurant. Menu looked good, photos looked great but the food was absolutely awful and I wish I said something while I was there but we were so hungry that we ate most of it, so to say something would be contradictory. However... We were greeted by either a host or server (not sure what he was). I only know the servers name because it was listed on the receipt (Kayleigh). No introduction, no suggestions, very short and had seemed as though he had no interest in being there. The double fried wings for the appetizer was 4 full chicken wings tossed in some buffalo sauce (was barely covered in sauce). No dipping sauce like ranch/bleu cheese was offered. Just the wings. The Haul Burger that my husband had was a soggy mess and flavorless. He was not impressed at all. The Tri-Tip Philly was very bland, didn't even taste like it had any "homemade" cheese sauce on it. It's more like just steak and bread. Gross. The alcohol was average and nothing to get excited over. The only DECENT part of this meal were the fries and their ranch (which tasted homemade). Also, the misters outside were a little annoying with the wind outside. FYI they only offer outside seating. I should also add that our server did not wear gloves and there was a server who I saw use hand sanitizer on gloves, instead of changing her gloves. Overall would not recommend this place at all. Love this place. Always a great menu to choose from with new specials to choose from. The kitchen is dialed on all meals. Pizzas are wood fired and best in town. Price was 18.00 which I thought was a little high for that size pizza, but the pizza beat the heck out of the cookie cutter pizza places like Caesars, dominos, Pizza Hut and papa John's which I consider ordered through Doir Dash. After driving 250 miles, I really didn't want to have to wait in line to order my dinner. But, since this place has good reviews, I decided to give it a try. Now, I hadn't planned on having pizza, since I've already had 4 pizzas in the past 10 days. But, when I read they were the wood-fired pizza, and the oven was from Italy, I knew I just had to try it. So, I ordered their Margarita Pizza, along with a local light Brew. Both, were really good, as is evident by the empty glass and nearly clean pie plate. Now, as someone who has had pizza in Naples, Italy, the pizza was pretty darn close to what I had there. Though, I think the ingredients used here, vs there, made a bit of a difference to the taste. There are a limited number of restaurants open on Sunday, but thankfully The Haul is one of them. We had a great margarita pizza, served hot out of their pizza oven, and a melt -in-your mouth double stack smashburger that was SO good! The servers were friendly and we enjoyed our lunch very much. Highly recommend if you're spending an evening in Grant's Pass! Cool restaurant with a beer hall vibe and ample seating. The service was great! Didn't have to wait long at all for food and beer was ready a moment after ordering. Water is self serve. Solid selection of beers. Only tried the available porter, but it was tasty, rich, and chocolatey. I ordered the Cuban sandwich for dinner and it was great. The pork was delicious and a nice, interesting touch with cucumber on the sandwich. The fries were delicious - well seasoned, fresh, and cooked to perfection. Portions were large for both the sandwich and fries. Only critique I have was that the ketchup container was very small and I ran out quickly. read more

I liked the pizza crust, it was thin but delish, not like MOD. The edge of crust had a little crisp and a little chew at the same time. Now the tomato sauce was out of a can as it had no spice. It wasn't bad but I love a flavorful marinara much better. The cheese consisted of mozzarella, fontina, and parmesan and it was somewhat lacking in flavor. I liked the pizza but I like other pizzas so much more. I enjoyed the 2 beers that I tried. I also tried the Ruben which was sorely lacking in meat, lots of cabbage though. The fries were good.
