Love love love this restaurant. I eat here whenever I'm in the Lakewood area. The Steak Frites and the deviled eggs are my personal go to. The Cesar salad and the Max & cheese where had by my companion. Mac & cheese was perfect. Not super runny but not to thick and the perfect amount of crumb. My Steak Frites was absolutely delish. Steak was cooked to perfection and the roasted potatoes were were well seasoned. The apple side salad was a great balance of sweet to the savory flavors. And the deviled eggs are a great starter. They have slight kick as a finish from the dollop of Sriracha. Overall a great menu. We had to take dessert to go because we were so full from dinner. Let me start by saying we have been regular customers for many years. We dine here 2-3 times a month. After reviewing our charges for our visit tonight, I realized that they added 3% to cover the credit card charges they incur. Nowhere on the menu does it say they add charges for credit cards. In my opinion, this is a cost of doing business that should be absorbed by the business, and credit card users shouldn't be penalized for using their credit cards to pay. Ate dinner here tonight and loved it!!! We discovered The Heights on Yelp and can't believe we haven't been here yet! It's really charming on the inside and offers patio seating outside in the front of the restaurant. The bar has an old world rustic/ Irish pub vibe and love the interior decor. Super cozy and inviting. No need to dress up which was our tone for the night. Our server Tom was great!! Super attentive, friendly and also humorous which we loved. To start, we enjoyed the deviled eggs which were cooked perfectly and had bit of sriracha on the top. I enjoyed the French cocktail and a delicious dirty martini for my second drink. For dinner, the Shrimp Louie Roll was great and Brian enjoyed their burger with bacon. He mentioned it was cooked perfectly. We both opted for the steak fries on the side. For dessert we really enjoyed the key lime pie which was homemade and one of the best I've had...even better than one I ate in Key West a couple years back. We had a great brunch here while visiting town recently. My friends who live in the area hadn't heard of this place before, so I was happy to introduce them to it as well. Being the small space that it is, it fills up pretty quickly. We had to wait about 45 minutes for our table of four on a Sunday morning. It definitely is not made for big groups, so do not even try! Despite the teenage host who was less than pleasant to interact with, we had excellent service from our server and once seated everything moved along quickly without feeling rushed. My potato hash was unique, and I loved the red eye gravy! The jalapeno cheddar biscuits were so fluffy and flavorful too. Another item that was unlike any other I've had before was the toasted oatmeal pancakes. Just wow! They are super rich so the short stack would be plenty. We got the full stack and had some left because we got so full! They were worth the wait and had top-notch food quality. It was a delightful experience, and I highly recommend The Heights! read more

Came here after trying to find a late brunch spot after mass and after seeing great reviews. Quaint place with both indoor and outdoor seating (dog-friendly). The interior is kind of squishy with jam packed tables. We got the Heights burger and the oatmeal pancakes. The burger was alright, but the pancakes were amazing! Nice crispy, toasted oats paired with fluffy pancakes and berries. We would definitely come back to get the pancakes or even to try dinner. Only problems were I got bacon instead of sausage that I asked for and service was slow- they do seem short staffed so I would cut them some slack. read more

The Heights is a nice casual brunch spot in Lakewood. They have a nice outdoor area set up, fenced with astroturf and spaced tables, with little propane heaters for cooler weather. We both tried The Heights burgers for brunch. The burger comes topped with a generous scoop of jalapeño pimento cheese and whiskey caramelized onions. Lettuce, pickle, tomato and onion are served on the side along with some of the tastiest potato wedges ever. Let's just talk about these wedges. They are beautifully golden and crisp on the edges and taste like creamy mashed potatoes on the inside. Pure glory. The burger itself was completely overcooked. We asked for medium rare but it was well done, just grey all the way through. We knew they were closing soon, so we didn't ask for them to be remade. The flavor was pretty good, but unfortunately we wish the burgers were cooked to the desired temp. I don't know if they'd be the best burgers ever even if the burgers were cooked as desired, but not sure if I'd go out of my way to try it again. Friendly staff though! read more

I had brunch at the Heights a few weeks ago when I was visiting family in Dallas. I had the Lakewood Migas (scrambled eggs with chorizo, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and crispy corn tortilla strips and served with black beans, warm tortillas, and fresh salsa), which were good! The drip coffee was good and refilled constantly! The service was great, and the restaurant had a cool understated vibe. I enjoyed myself, and I'd be happy to go back. Don't let the strip-shopping location dissuade you; this is a legit neighborhood pub. Because it is in Lakewood, it has the dressed-down elegance of other $$ eateries (Highland Park Cafeteria, Lovers Dunstons, etc.) where the plainly-dressed person at the next table may own a golf course. Seating is limited to a few tables, with a long (shared) bench down the entire right wall. The interior is so dimly lit, that it seems smoky. I almost needed a flahlight to see the menu - but it certainly breeds privacy. Old black & white photos show the local Dallas neighborhoods and shops from my childhood. Took me back! Oh yeah; they also have a full bar and good food! Very good food as it happens; with choices ranging from plebian burgers to $30 chef selections of the day. The Lakeshore Burger is worth mentioning; their entry into the 'hangover-cure' style burger with bacon and fried egg is outstanding. Steak cut fries were OK, but my deviled egg side dish was really good. My wife enjoyed a chicken dish. No energy-drink bar drinks; this is Lakewood baby. Way too old-school for that, but the bartender was skilled and my muced drinks were good. Deep Eddy is stocked; always a plus. If I had been born wealthy; I might eat here every week. I ordered Migas's and my friend ordered regular eggs and ham. I asked for substitutions, but I wasn't told that hashbrowns would cost me $5 and an order of toast would cost me $3.50. So my $11 breakfast turned into 18... Restaurant 101 -tell customers when there's going to be an up change.. The service was just OK. This place has all of those plus lots of parking! This restaurant is one of the better ones in the area. We went in for a late Sunday breakfast and were seated near the entry. I was facing the wall which had a picture from the late 1960's of the Gaston and La Vista intersection. Lots of changes since then! I really enjoyed studying the cars in that photo as they reminded me of my first car. This is a popular place to those that know of it. There were all ages from infants to octogenarians. Couples in their running gear, others in their church clothes. A few regulars calling out many by name. A newly re-elected politician. A fews others discussing board meeting agendas this week and of course, me who just wanted a great breakfast. breakfast of the hash and eggs. The eggs were perfectly fried over easy. The red eye gravy was perfect in flavor and consistency. The Ham slice was just the right amount of smoked flavoring and sweet. The rosemary potatoes and peppers were not over or undercooked. Just the right amount of rosemary so all of the other flavors could be tasted. The thick toast was absolutely toasted to perfection to sop up the last of the gravy, egg yolk and sauted pepper flavors. The service was appreciative, flawless, timely and quick. It was a great way to start the day! I noticed the full bar (Complete with Bushmills!) and the take out lane for the evening time customers. The happy hour is 5-7. Staffers were friendly. Obviously popular with the neighborhood folk and their kids. I got the hash and eggs ($9). It was pretty good and the gravy had a depth that reflected a homemade recipe. But the potatoes lacked flavor and badly needed salt or something. To their credit, the eggs were cooked as requested and not over easy as on the menu. The gravy was good but seemed rather overwhelming as the meal progressed. The wife got the Basic breakfast and it was good, nothing special or fancy ($9). She also got a pancake on the side and for $2 it was a great deal. I knock them down a notch for incredibly slow service and having a difficult time with the toast. People who were seated after us got their food first even though there was nothing remotely complicated about our order. The ability to poach an egg seemed to be a challenge. New cook on board? Prices are extremely reasonable. I would give them another try, maybe something other than breakfast, since the food seems to be homemade and of good quality. read more

This place is multiverse to me meaning that its breakfast/coffee vibe is just as impactful as its evening cocktail and dinner vibe. Small, intimate and excellent quality in the kitchen.
